1. Well, with the end of the year approaching, good old Eugene Matos will probably start advertising the perennial Air Force Boogie fiasco again. He likes to take out ads in Skydiving and Parachutist. Honestly, it is not clear from the history if he is a crook or just incompetant. Either way, he accepts money and doesn't return it. When you demand a refund, you'll get an earful of delays, lies, and threats. It's actually kind of funny in an expensive way. DO NOT FALL FOR IT. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. Do a search on dropzone.com for the past history of this remarkable dipshit First Class Citizen Twice Over
2. I've been thinking of drugging and kidnapping people then tatooing the american flag across their faces before releasing them. Then if I get caught and prosecuted I'll claim a first amendment right to patriotic expression. I'm sure I'll win. After all, it's only american! If the crime involves an american flag, how can it be a crime? Hmmm. How about wearing clothes with american flag designs while robbing bank? Murdering enemies by stuffing a flag down their throats? Spraypainting flags on random parked cars? I'm sure it's all defensible. I think I'll just change my name to "American Flag". Then I'll be immune to all laws. First Class Citizen Twice Over

Help! PDF/X??

I do this sort of thing for a living. Please do NOT try to fake your way through it. This sort of thing really does take a long time to get good at. Find a professional. You CAN'T do it yourself. First Class Citizen Twice Over
5. That means from 1 to 3 people from every commercial flight will be turned away or arrested? How dramatic! First Class Citizen Twice Over
6. Everyone's got moral and principles. The only difference is some peoples' belong in a cultural museum. "And if you'll come over here, children, you can see the display about the prudishness of the 1950s. The 50s were an amazing time in our recent past. It's when women were subjugated, gay people and ethnic minorities were lynched, jazz and rock & roll were considered satanic, and intellectuals were tormented for invented political accusations. Can any of you say the word, 'uptight'? I knew you could!" First Class Citizen Twice Over
7. I think this line killed what was otherwise a potentially lively thread. Everyone's thinking, "Hey! I know a GOOD one but I guess I shouldn't say anything until I put aside several hours to build an Excel spreadsheet with at least 20 or 30 others to compare... Oh well, maybe I'll get to it next weekend..." Speaking of, I know a good one but I can't say anything about it until... First Class Citizen Twice Over

Four Days of Fun

The Manager of the Chamber of Commerce said at the Labor Day bbq that's the weekend the state legislature is visiting and they want to put on a BASE demo. One more point on the side of the Good for Tourism argument! Go make us look good. First Class Citizen Twice Over
9. On a recent base trip to a 900' (to impact. 2000' to landing) cliff known to the community as Sputnik, I jumped once in the morning but didn't participate in the afternoon jump. By then some serious updrafts had formed and I got to watch jumpers spend what seemed like 5 minutes or more floating down. They seemed literally motionless, 500' above the landing area. It was like magic! First Class Citizen Twice Over

11. That's an odd comment. 100 jumps? Perhaps if you combine ALL base jumps from all objects you'd get some amazingly low number, although I suspect 100 would be going too far. Now consider sub-specialties in base. How about the relatively friendly 486-foot span? I've watched hundreds of jumps there in just 4 weekends and roughly estimate there have been well over 10,000 jumps over the years (10 jumps per day, 8 months per year, for 5 years -- completely discounting boogies where there are hundreds of jumps per day.) Texas Tom has 780 jumps off that bridge alone. As far as I know there has been only one death there. The ratio of jumps to deaths at this bridge is clearly much better than 1:100. More like 1:10,000 which isn't that far from skydiving's numbers. First Class Citizen Twice Over
12. I did 7 jumps this weekend from 486 feet. Probably pulled around 375 to 400 feet each time. First Class Citizen Twice Over

14. People who habitually reply immediately to every single thread. It's even worse because their contributions are often nothing more than, "I don't know anything about this." First Class Citizen Twice Over
15. Well, we're off to Eye Dee Ho. Just got reservations at the incomparable Shilo Inn which loves us: "Ok sir, that will be $108.95 plus tax per night for the king size bed." "Oh, that's quite a lot. But I forgot to mention that we're base jumpers." "I'm sorry, what did you say?" "B-A-S-E jumpers. It's a special for that Shilo Inn only. It has a discount for base jumpers." "Hold one second please while I check into that." ... 20 seconds pass ... "Thank you for holding. Yes sir, we do have a discount. I'm sorry I didn't know before. That will be $78.95 per night plus tax. Would you like your confirmation code?" "Thank you." Have fun. Be individuals. Don't screw it up. First Class Citizen Twice Over

BASE Tattoo

The sad news is we left a camera full of photos like that in Idaho. I don't have anything that fits the description. Mostly I've been taking shots from the side anyway, but I'll let you know if I come up with anything at the Labor Day boogie thing. First Class Citizen Twice Over

19. Yup! Congrats on those first jumps this weekend. It was nice meeting you there and it was great seeing your excitement. I stood in that exact same place for the first time just a couple of months ago and it freshens still-fresh memories to see other people do it too. First Class Citizen Twice Over

21. If anyone can identify the jumper in this pic, I'd sure appreciate getting in touch with him. I've blotted his face because he might not want his face plastered across the internet. I hope someone recognizes his exit style. I took this picture Memorial Day 2003 at the 486' span in Idaho. I'm fond of the picture and want to use it for a project, but not without the jumper's permission. Mystery Jumper First Class Citizen Twice Over
22. Damnit! I was only a couple of hours from auction close when I posted this. I shouldn't have jumped the gun, but I had to leave for a 9 hour drive to Twin Falls. I was outbid about 120 miles from my computer. But I'm still looking. First Class Citizen Twice Over
23. Oh my goid, is that right? My eyes are opened. I've reformed my ways. I've now chosen your worldview. I'm no longer sexually or romantically attracted to men. Heil JEEEEEEZUS -- I'm saved! First Class Citizen Twice Over
24. The jumper in question is a young man I hadn't previously met. To be clear, I'm not complaining that he stood on the rail once. Anyone can make an error if they don't know the local rules. The reason for this public lashing is that he took an aggressive anti-Don, anti-cooperation position afterwards. He made it clear he would continue to do it except when Don was watching. He mistakes self-policing for a personal challenge. He thinks this incredibly mild and understandable request is beneath him. I hope he either rethinks his position or stays away from this jewel of an object. The sport has exactly ONE of these and losing it would be a tragedy. First Class Citizen Twice Over
25. Not married, or not precisely. But my boyfriend and I will celebrate 5 years together soon so the difference is somewhat academic. I introduced him to skydiving. Later he introduced me to BASE. Now we skydive less and BASE jump together. No kids. Not from lack of trying, mind you. First Class Citizen Twice Over
