Yo, Anything going on there?? I'll be staying for a week Jan 10th-14th. Wondering if I should bring a rig and if any locals would like to share a jump with me. PM for phone or email me base700@comporium.net Thanks Blair
  3. Yo, No idea why the lineover happened, but my experience tells me that a larger PC for that delay would have helped the opening sequence....however given you could take it all the way down, I would say 5-7 seconds with a 38"ZP would be my 'ideal' setup from that altitude. And again, hopefully improve the opening sequence and reduce the chance of the L/O. But FWIW, I don't have but a handful of jumps total, and the sites I've jumped usually don't fall into that height. My .5centz Later Blair

Hey 311 And check your PM too please. Thanks Blair
  5. I'm headed to the dentist to get fangs installed next week.... Blair
  6. Hey y'all, Regarding the Ice on the towers, I was taught NOT to jump iced towers...have you ever seen the roof tops of the buildings underneath frequently iced towers?? Just food for thought as vibrations from vators and climbers can cause ice to fall. Glad you all had fun!!! Later Blair edited out personal attack on LeRoy meant in good fun

    THANKS AVERY!!

For the sweet new Team Ill Vision T-shirt!! The color will match the towers very well I'll be sure to wear it the next time I go out sacrificing virgins....eerrrr uuummmm I mean BASE jumping Thanks again, and Merry Christmas...I owe you an elevator ride Later Blair
  8. Tom, Would you mind explaining in detail your direct control on the BJ? Thanks Blair
  9. Re: your direct control on the BJ, are you saying that you take a bite of the slider and wrap it with a rubber band...if so where is the rubber band attached..an in-board steering line attachment point?? You mention, this is more difficult on the BJ, why? Because of where the 5th steering line is attached..?? I've done about a dozen jumps in the 10-12 second range on my BJ 310 with large mesh slider, no direct control, and 32"ZP PC...sometimes AV some not..and my openings are fine, not much different than my Ace with same setup. I'm wondering what others are doing for direct control on slider up jumps with Ace/BlackJack...?? Currently I am jumping non release (WLO etc) toggles and no direct control...and am wondering if its just a matter of time before the line-overOr is that another thread? Thanks Blair
  10. So did you use the leg mount or do you use BOC??? How was the reach, you say the RW blew the wing grippers out of the way enough for BOC or leg mount. Just curious how they pull, I know Robi likes to use the leg mount. Also, the hip transfer method, please more more I've tweaked my exit and it is much different from what you are used to seeing in most of the videos, just curious.....I found that launching out, up and with everything folded back and legs up in a nice arch, then as I come close to parallel with the ground...spread arms...then leg wing and go....when it worked I was perfectly pitched for max flight as I exposed my wings, no rocking, just a smoothe acceleration....however this negates the first couple of seconds somewhat as I'm building up speed for this move and not flying the suit right off the exit...a technique I'd imagine is even more delicate with a V1..... can't wait for mine to come! Thanks for the great info!! Blair
  11. I have oversized loops on my cutaway handles on my GTI, and I had a seatbelt go through one, as I slid down the seat towards the door, I pulled about 3 inches of one of my arm cables out, I was the only one left in the plane, so I went back up to the front, sat down and fixed it while chatting with the pilot, it turned out ok for me, but I noticed in time. Recently at my DZ a fellow Bman had a tandem student sit on one of his arm cutaways, and it pulled out so much that he had to remove the suit for the jump as he could not fix it himself with the rig on, and none of the tandem masters left on the plane knew what to do.. Anyways, like Fergs said, more handles, more checks, more responsibilities....have fun! Blair
  12. Yo! I like Faber's quote, but most other posts mention the 'walking away very satisfied and uninjured' as well... This at least applys to a recent event in my life, as one my BASE mentor's and close friends "retired" from the sport, he had long been strictly a BASE jumper, not even skydiving in years. He had also built for me and my bros some of our first brand new velcro containers, mine is still my primary container, and one dude who jumps alot hasn't owned anything but Bandit rigs. And then one day he told me he was through, I had the pleasure of a two way from a special site on his final jump, but there were a TON of others on the load I felt. This guy is one of the BEST BASE jumpers in the world, injuree free, with a TON of experience. Not to mention a LONG line of good folks just in case he can't stand it. I aspire to leave the sport one day satisfied and healthy.....but not anytime soon, my journey has just begun. Later Blair Team Bandit
  13. Yea, I wonder whose idea it was for the low 'cutaway' man to have a slider up rig on that 'stunt'??? I 'heard' later on in the day they did the same stunt successfully, and the low man was slider down....it was scary to watch the first one and I couldn't believe he wasn't hurt....o well, I guess red bull does give you wings..... Anywho, ditto for what Mac said, any locals from 'our' side that go, don't expect a warm welcome home....... Of course, you could always go out there and get a A+++ course from a major manufacturer, or even possibly a free course from THE MAN, TA. Later Blair PS and by 'free' I only mean no charge for the instruction, nothing in BASE is free, but its SOOOOO worth it.

    Turkey Boogie!

Damn good time!!! THANK YOU to Jimmy and Marta and all the local guides etc. that made the boogie such an amazing event! Like Rod, this was my first visit to Moab, so thank you to everyone who helped me get to some great exit points, and shared their knowledge and energy!! I hope to see all of y'all again soon, thanks for the jumps, and the memories...... Special congrats to Jenn and Rod (and I'm sure a few others) who completed BASE....it just keeps getting better C-ya Blair O yea...I attached a pic of a couple of the coolest Texas BASE dudes I know....anyone got pics to share of the INCREDIBLY HOT BASE chics from Texas ....

    Gargoyle owners

Yo! I'd say give Rob a call, but I 'believe' they recommend keeping the flap closed on all jumps, hence the name "no tension flap". I saw him freefall a 220' B and I'm pretty sure he had the flap closed but that is pure speculation as I had already exited via him holding my PC tightly I've never made a jump on my gargoyle with the flap open, from all altitudes. Once you get it in hand, get it packed and get yourself a fish scale, that way you can experiment with different pull tensions vs body positions etc....basically it will all make sense when you get the rig. Seriously, call Morpheus, Rob will gladly share his wisdom in my experience, and believe me, I had a TON of questions that he more than answered. Congrats on your new purchase, I'm sure you'll be pleased. Later Blair
  16. goto http://crmojo.com/frame_main.htm and then to the document section of the Library, look for the ram air owner's PDF flie, download it and print it out, that has great info and pretty much is the exact packjob I use on every jump. There is also other GREAT files in there to ue as resources, including closing of both the Pin and Velcro rigs, CR made...and especially an ETHICS eh hem file.
  17. Dang Mike, timing IS everything. LEROY, WAKE THE FUCK UP!!!!! WHEN WAS THAT EPISODE??? THERE IS A REASON WE JUMP AT NIGHT. PLEASE SEEK IMMEDIATE HELP! O and by the way, Tom will be coming home soon....I'll be happy to arrange an introduction. Later Blair
  18. I was amazed at the forward speed of the 2 guys on WS off the B in China (I think), they took the F__K OFF!!!! Robi is sure to make alot of folks happy when the new suits become available!!! I know I can't wait! Later Blair
  19. I agree with Mike, MOST of the experienced Carolina jumpers I know, were out in Colorado or elsewhere jumping last weekend. And I'm talking about the guys who have the MOST jumps off the MOST objects, and are responsible for OPENING almost ALL of the objects that are now regularly jumped in BOTH states. That said, I feel it would be in EVERYONE's best interest to consult these guys, 2 of them are regular posters here, and could offer valuable insight on how to go about bandit jumping OUR (ie everyone's)objects. And if you don't know who the most experienced jumpers are, or who to talk to, please PM me and I can get you in touch, as I regularly jump with a couple of them. Hopefully we can all get along, maybe put together a big way off the bridge and all land in the trees together Later Blair
  20. Umm...I'm not sure what that statement means, but I wasn't making a reference or insinuation regarding a recent wire strike, I was just stating that I was taught to open below the last wire set on ALL my slider down A jumps that take place on guyed towers....S/L, PCA, Freefall..... I am in favor of a thread which details the 'recent event' and how the situation could have been avoided, anything we can all learn from... Since you were there Justin, how about you start? I did laugh while reading your first 'recount', but YOU know there is some info that could possible help other jumpers learn. Later Blair
  21. I concur with Justin, my humble opinion is that terminal A's even with the BEST winds, are not the BEST choice for a 1st BASE jump. What if they blow the exit, pitch at 3 seconds unstable, then they're open with line twists and _several_ sets of wires to play with. Unstable or botched exit is just one scenario, The way I was taught was from low stuff first, get open on heading, and land, then progressed to handheld, etc. So whenever we take a newbie off a guyed tower, we always have them exit for an assisted deployment, but so that when they open, they are BELOW the last wire set...usually around 150' or so. Then the only object left to hit is the tower itself, and if they can't get a 180 all the way back around, there are some other 'outs'. Plus...around here, you HAVE to earn your right to the big sticks, they are few and far. But what do I know, my mentor took me off a 220'B for my first jump, and second.... Later Blair
  22. Nice Job Steve!!!! I started skydiving wingsuits in order to BASE jump with them, and after only 2 short BASE flights from towers, I'm completely hooked. Can't wait to hit some big cliffs next summer!!! Later Blair
  23. Yo! I'll be down there on Friday. I will have a few demo BirdMan suits for anyone who wants to try the nylon crack. Looking forward to partying in St George again....also got word that Pepe and Del will be there as well. So PULLHIGH, are you organizing for the fixed object enthusiasts?? Later Blair

    SOLO WS off an A

Hey man, In my SUPER limited experience (2 so far), getting out to exit wasn't too bad. I did have someone at the exit point both times though just in case I was unable to maneuver while zipped up. Luckily for me I just geared up on the landing, jumped in the elevator, and rode up. I bet a climb would be really tough, and potentially damage the suit. Later Blair
  25. THAT's exactly what it sounds like, didn't do the cleaning mode trick though, I should have it back from Cannon next week, hopefully problem solved. Thanks Blair
