If hes packing on carpet, see if he can get one of those carpet grippers... I got one at Spaceland for ~20 bucks, stick it on the carpet, thread the webbing thru the big rings or the leg straps and pull it tight, no more uneven risers! Not that I have ever packed a tandem line twist without it, but it helps alot more and only takes a few seconds to clip it on and take it off.
