Nope, probably not! I remember my off landing. Winds kicked up after we took off, and on the entire ride to alt, I was under a Navigator 240 weighing about 190 out the door. Opened up, checked my ground speed... yup, going backwards. Radio didn't work (distance maybe?) I saw I was backing up into some trees behind me and my best outs were straight down and to the left... I spiraled down to burn off some alt, got it back into the wind and landed just right, then got yanked back by the canopy. Cleared the trees by a few hundred feet though Sometimes shit happens. MANY injuries that I've seen recently (on here anyways) were under good canopies when someone impacted the ground in a high speed dive. No exposed reserve pilot chute, Better riser protecton, wider leg straps, better customer service. and all around more comfortable. Plus If you compare the options of an infinity to any other manufacture the infinity will be cheaper. I have also heard lately that wings have a tendency to have hard pulls if you dont beat the hell out of the BOC Some see the wings having the partially exposed reserve PC as being a good thing (less flaps between the PC and air) giving it a cleaner and better launch. Hard pulls can be done on any rig, depends how you pack the PC. I had an instructor pack the student gear on one of my jumps (was learning how to pack and he showed me his way) Had a HARD pull, but still got it out. Never had that issue packing the PC my way before, or after that. Not sure if you'll qualifiy for USSI, I'm fairly certian AD is a LEO (or affiliated with them), and I am military. They make you send them a copy of your credentials/ID card before you can make any purchases. That being said, I am getting a pair of Liquid Eyewear... they're more expensive than the Oakleys, but they're built like tanks, my oakleys never last long (hell, I have a couple sets I havnt even taken out of the case, just because they'll break) IIRC the oakleys have plastic hinges (atleast on the military ones we get) and fall apart pretty easily, I wouldnt take them to terminal. I havnt found anything that says you could use it for skydiving... most I've found is a list of vocational stuff. I'm trying to see if I can get them to pay for me to go to a riggers course myself... If you had a transporter, you may not even need a rig! Think about it, lay your 4-way or 8-way down on the transporter pad already in formation w/ grips for the first point. Transport to 12.5. Away y'all go crankin' points and then have the transporter set to beam y'all back safely to the pad at 2k. No rig, no packing required. Or a portable wind tunnel (recirculating with heat/ac) that you can fit a > 16 way BFR in, that runs off hopes and dreams and folds up into something the size of a credit card. No parents, and I HATE borrowing money. I joined the Army, this being my 5th 'trip' overseas, I've managed to pay off my truck, debts and have a decent coushin. When my dad died last year, I found out I was the sole benificiary for life insurance we didn't know he had. Its been thrown into CD's minus an emergency fund (located in a different bank, that I cannot access online, only over the phone/one check book). I just gave my sister 3 grand for a car she wants and I refuse to touch the other money for any 'spur of the moment' expenses... and its a bitch to get to, so its more reason not to use it. This deployment I have bought a brand new fully loaded V3-M, Optimum Reserve, some rigger items, a seat PEP with a 26' lopo canopy, a LiquidSky suit, Cannon XSi kit... and I still have a bit of cash in the checking account. My truck is paid off... My credit score is over 700... I have a good amount in the bank for emergencies... and I pretty much owe my financial status and responsibility (even if it doesn't sound like it) to the military. Its not for everyone, but its not too bad of a gig, I just wish I could get my bum brother in!
