You skydive? Why would anyone want to jump out of a perfectly good airplane? Shit, we have to jump start ours every time! "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message

You're not trying to shove the canopy in the bag, are ya? Try putting the bag around the canopy. "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message

Get pregnant! Congrats kiddo!

I suggest you ditch the idea of putting a camera on for a few hundred jumps. (As a matter of fact, you're probably gonna hear that a LOT) "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message

I've got a Singer 31-15 (straight stitch only, no reverse) that does awesome at canopy repairs, does pretty good as far as jumpsuit repairs and can even just barely punch a couple layers of TY-8 with E-thread. Anything heavier or needing a zig-zag I use my Sailrite LSZ-1. They market it as 'if it fits under the presser foot, it will sew' so far, I haven't had any problems and can push E-thread all day long with it (even got bored and punched 6 or 8 layers of TY-8 with it). I bet if I could find bigger needles, it could push 5 cord too. I've seen the 31-15's on craigslist for $25 (head only), good luck finding a used LSZ-1 for less than $500... I believe Paul (likestojump) has a 20u (head only) in the classifieds that would be a great all around machine, http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/detail_page.cgi?ID=105804;d=1 If I needed a zig-zag, I'd be pretty interested in that too. There is an instructor who's trying to start up a DZ in Daytona, but until he get's the permission for the airspace and land to operate out of, he's going to be using Deland. (from what I'm told) It is NOT Deland selling groupons. (yes, I know what I'm talking about, I was the one that took the picture that is on the groupon page) "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message

Simple electronics, wire a remote switch in parallel with the switch on the body, there ya go. Voids the warranty and ya gotta make it look good, but not rocket surgery. how do I upgrade from Windows XP to W7 without losing my apps?

If you have the CD key for it, you may be able to find someone that has the install disk and use your key... 100% legit. "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message -

With only $20 you won't need the rubbers unless you find a really trashy one Naw, the $20 is for the cab ride, the girls are free. "No shit, there I was, freefalling from the sky as part of the CIA's new training program... They put me out in the wrong area from 60 thousand feet, and I drifted all the way down to (where am I? Don't know where he learned to jump, but I have a pull up cord, $20 and a bunch of rubbers... never know where you're gonna land! (I haven't landed off since AFF though and it wasn't my spot!) I also keep some rubber bands handy "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message

Doesn't work that way. The installers copy files/folders that you wouldn't know where to look to find, register dynamic link libraries (DLL's) not to mention the registry entries, and what if the software was only compatible with XP, sure Win7 has 'Compatibility mode' but that in itself is a whole different ball game. Right click on the program, go to 'Properties', then 'Compatibility'... Check the box that says 'Run this program in compatibility mode for: ' and select one of the Windows XP flavors that it has listed (I have SP3 and SP2). Hit ok. Longmont City Council will take up skydiving noise

Well, if anyone comes up with her Dade city address, let me know soon, gonna be in the neighborhood and wouldn't mind taking a few mins out of my busy schedule to buzz by "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message -
Canopies have different weights, you wouldn't want to put a PC that has to pull a big heavy 260 canopy out on something the size of a 97 because it will pull with too much force. Also, if all you're doing is sub-terminal hop and pops, you want a bigger PC to create more drag at slower speeds, but a smaller one for terminal. So, what you're saying is, you're afraid you'll get shit canned for standing up for yourself, so you hide behind your online persona to vent? Sounds like you're pussy whipped by the job. Or just pack it in the field, that way when you get back, you can manifest right away and remember to check the spot this time. "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message

Little early in the morning, but I believe small aircraft pilots are encouraged to turn off their strobes while flying in clouds because they can cause vertigo. http://flighttraining.aopa.org/students/crosscountry/skills/night.html: BTW, don't expect an aircraft to hear a fog horn, gotta love those noise canceling headsets, wind noise and big ole spinny thing on the front of the plane! 'A little faster' could be the difference between nice openings and interesting ones. What are the pilot chutes made out of? (F111 or ZP) Is the bridle the same length? Longer? Shorter? You probably wouldn't notice an inch or two difference in PC, but you could (that's why we have different sized PC's - for different size canopies) Check with the MFGR of the main and ask them what the recommended set up for that canopy is. There are some days I wish my N3 was IFR equipped. GPS would be cool to check your ground speed and whatnot, but I couldn't imagine using it more than once in a while. I had a rather bumpy take off in a PAC-750 that had me all over the back of the plane (yes, seatbelted in). I felt my container get caught up on something and it didn't 'feel' right. I turned around and asked an experienced jumper to give me a pin check, well, my main was now sitting in between my feet at 1000'. Another time I was going up and as I usually do, I visually checked peoples gear on the ride up... Turned out this time, a girl sitting right in front of me misrouted her chest strap, I got real big eyed and had someone else hold my camera helmet, pulled on her chest strap and showed her it came right out, then fixed it. She didn't ask for a gear check, but I'm glad that I caught it. (ETA: She always asks ME for a gear check if I'm around now) Gear checks save lives. I agree 100% with what Dave said, find someone competent to give you one. At this point in your progression, you might even get a couple extra tips from an experienced instructor, rigger or up-jumper. I'll give a gear check to any students I see getting on the load, anyone that asks and I'll point out anything that doesn't look right on up-jumpers gear and ask if I could check/fix it. FWIW, 99% of the time, I do my own gear checks, before donning the rig, as I'm getting ready to walk to the plane, and atleast a few times in the plane. I even reach back and feel my main flap is closed and pin is fully seated in the loop. If I'm feeling like something isn't right, I ask someone around for a gear check, but only the people I know and trust to do it correctly. Never spent any time in the military have ya? "You don't have to respect the person, you respect the rank and position" Get the hell over it, all your whining and bitching on here is doing no good.
