  1. Thanks for answering the question, and thats really interesting about your grandfather (the last people i would expect to change their political ways are the older generations). "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  2. If that happens there really is no hope for us. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts

  4. I think this is wrong, but i don't think it's right to blame the indians for the decisions made by the chiefs. I'm sure there are many men and women in those barracks and bases thinking they would rather be walking the streets of London side by side with us, than having to be held back, looking sorry for themselves, because of some ongoing/under review/non disclosed/threat assessment situational analysis being made by the top brass, and would like the opportunity to be able to stand proud with us in London, but are being constrained from doing so. 5. Let's face it - to a certain degree we are having to face reality here - if we don't go back to work, the effect of the attack is worsened - both financially for the country and psychologically for us, as well as giving a boost to the group responsible in terms of heightening the fall out effect of the attack. Does that mean we are expendable while the US troops based nearby are not? To a degree yes. While we are quick to praise the emergency personnel as heroes, that rush into danger to rescue those trapped by the attacks (and rightfully so, they are heroes), we often seem to forget that those who will get "straight back on the horse" so to speak, and ride the buses and tubes the next day so they may get into work, knowing full well there could be another bomb or attack of some kind deserve praise as heroes too. Does that mean we should be angry at the report in that ABC story? Perhaps, but i can understand it, especially from a military perspective (assess the threat before moving into a potential conflict zone). If it is an ongoing order, i will be pretty pissed though - fair enough, decree no London based travel in the immediate aftermath, while the threat is assessed, but have it go on too long, and it certainly won't inspire much in the way of ongoing faith (is there any anyway) in our so called leaders, who tell one thing to one group, and a different thing to another. 6. Did some research - here is some useful info on the error code - might be a contributing factor. This error code is related to an issue when the camera cannot for whatever reason, read/play a tape - i took a tape it crinkled from my PC9 (which was giving the above error code) and put it into my work PC120 - the PC120, which has been fine, suddenly gave the same error code. This leads me to believe it's not moisture (the PC120 has not been anywhere near the extremes of temperature the PC9 has) or the camera itself, but rather, this error is output when the mechanism gets jammed as the result of a tape crinkle. Anyway, have a look at this for more info: http://www.bealecorner.com/trv900/trouble/index.html and here too http://www.bealecorner.com/trv900/trouble/cleaning.html Hope that helps. 9. do you mean the tape has had it, or the heads have had it? If its the heads, i know it will probbaly be more cost effective to get a new camera. Freaking happened to me today for the first time in AGES (did my first camera jumps this weekend). Absolutely typical - and Sony UK want £176 (almost $300) as a fixed fee for repairs. Now i don't have a clue as to what to do... "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts

  11. I can see how you would. However, you managed to miss my point. Despite all the attempts AQ have made, only small attacks have succeeded...only limited loss of life has been incurred (although any loss of life is deplorable, make no mistake) whereas their stated intention is to hit, hit hard, kill as many as possible, and terrorize us. To that end, they are not getting better; they are failing miserably. And I'm damned glad. Frankly, I'm not too terrified. I'm not worried about the guy next to me in the supermarket, I'm not too concerned about the guy at the post office, and I haven't had too many qualms about the people I've shared an airplane with. And I'm average. I worry more about my friends driving to and from the DZ than I do about a terrorist attack... When seen from that perspective, they are failing, as I said. They are failing. And I think a whole lot of it has to do with the "war on terror," rather than good diplomacy or financial handouts and 'group therapy.' That's one side of things that I wanted to point out... Ciels- Michele The idea that jihad is to kill as many of us "civilised westerners" as possible, in the shortest possible time is not correct. What these fundamentalists are trying to do is not only systematically create terror through attacks as and when they occur, but to revel in the knock on effects - disrupt our very way of life, create economic instability and also, kill us when they can. If 50 people die, but 7 million in London become nervous and somewhat insecure, even while trying their best to get on with things, then they have succeeded. The idea they are "losing" because they are not hitting us with yearly attacks on the scale of the world trade centre, and killing us in the tens of thousands on a regular basis is naive. Today in London people are going about their businesses as usual but people are nervy, weirded out, rightfully scared and shaken up, and the stock market - while recovering - had £44 billion wiped off in the space of 90 minutes yesterday - all in all not bad for a small terrorist cell, most likely operating under their own guise and motivation. While the tube is up and running, no one is not going to hear the helicopters constantly buzzing around the skies or look at packages and people any less suspiciously today, trust me. The "war on terror" will IMO be about as successful as the war on drugs. Sure we will make some big catches now and again, but in the big scheme of things, those "big catches" will actually probably be small fry compared to what gets through each year. The terrorists are fundamentalists - no one can reason with them, no one can debate with them. If you kill one, 10 more will sprout to follow their "martyr" brother or sister, and that to me is the most worrying aspect of this whole thing - there will never, as far as i can tell, be a finite end to this whole thing. What can we do? Destroying and incacerating the threat is all we can do, but will that really put a stop to things? I personally don't think so. Like drug dealers and suppliers we take care of, there will be others just waiting in the wings to step into their shoes. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts

  17. Endsleigh worked well for me, were cheap and from what i remember, had no exclusions on number of jumps etc etc. Just remember, this will probably not cover your gear, only hospitalisation and repatriation etc - you will probably have to look at separate home contents insurance to have your rig and so forth covered. 18. I'm curious if anyone has done 100 jumps in a week or less. I'm sure a week is doable, but less than that would be interesting to hear about. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  19. why would the number of cutaways he has had matter to those he has packed reserves for? If anything, it shows he has packed his reserve well as it keeps working. 5 cutaways in 162 does sound like a lot - would you mind listing what have been the causes of those - i'm just curious. PS well done on doing a good job. I wouldn't say you are a f'up, you had something that wasn't flying, you tried your best to get it to fly, it wouldn't, you exectuted good EP's and you walked away from it all - nice work

  22. The lens doesn't get touched now although it was a little before hand, but i tightened up the angle of the attachment plate and it seems good now. I'll go jump it and see how it works out, i think your advice about just getting it into the air is the best thing to really see how she flies
