  1. __________________________________________ Just have the damned instructions readily available!!! Chuck
  2. __________________________________________ A few years ago, I had a guy come to me, wanting me to help him get his rigger's ticket. Weeell, he couldn't sew to save his butt. So, before we went any farther, I started giving him sewing lessons. The first thing I showed him and 'tried' to impress on him was; "Start sewing with scrap material!" You never start with whatever it is you are wanting to make. Learn your sewing machine and learn thread tension. Unless, the machine you are using is totally screwed-up, leave the bobbin tension alone. Check with Poynter's Parachute Manual or go to a local sewing store and get a book on 'sewing'. Either, will show you proper stitches. Practice, practice, practice! Good luck to you and show pics of your first project so we can all 'critique' you! Chuck
  3. ________________________________________ I tend to agree with you. Sometimes, holding your 'cards close to your chest' keeps the other person from knowing what you've got and using it against you. Chuck
  4. I would try what has been suggested here. When you get your rig, practice throwing-out your p/c with the hackey. After awhile, you'll find you'll like it. When you are jumping student gear, you tend to get used to or even liking things about that gear. When you get your own gear, you'll find that student gear is nowhere near what you have. I wore gloves a lot when jumping and never had trouble finding/throwing-out my hackey. I think, you'll really like it. Chuck
  5. __________________________________________ I'm the same way. You can't be too careful. I'm watchful and cautious of e-mails from folks I know. A lot of people will open and forward anything. In your position, that would be total chaos to 'ruin' the company's computers. Chuck
  6. I got one of those and judt deleted it. The FBI, CIA or any other law enforcement agency is not going to question, interrogate or interview anyone via the internet. There's another virus going around under the guise of Microsoft. Ya' gotta really watch what you open in your e-mail. Chuck
  7. ____________________________________ That's the damned truth! Chuck
  8. I have always understood, the harness-container manufacturer, super-cedes the canopy manufacturer's instructions. For instance, Jump Shack is quite adament about pro-packing the reserve going into a Racer. Some manufacturers, will state that they 'prefer' a pro-pack and refer the rigger to the canopy manufacturer's instructions. To me, that leaves it up to the rigger. Chuck

  12. Let's see if I have this straight. Guy lies on the witness stand, years later he gets into a shootout with a cop, case is not prosecuted, he becomes something of a celebrity in the latino community but testified previously against a latino who was executed. Sounds like he likes the celebirty thing. Why would anyone believe him now? Nothing has changed except his friend is dead and he is still lying to make the most out of the situation. ____________________________________ I've heard about 'jailhouse confessions' and the like. Usually, someone is lookin' for a lighter sentence! Chuck
  13. _____________________________________ As well as one or two others, here. Chuck
  14. Where's that pic of a bunny with a pancake on his head? That would come in handy right about now... ______________________________________ Yeah! where is that fuzzy little guy?? I looked-up and... there he was!!! Chuck
  15. ___________________________ Is that a double entendre? Chuck Mayyybeee..... __________________________________________ Chuck

  17. I have more concern about the truth of his statement than about his English. How many Americans can speak good English anyway? ___________________________________ Seems like very damn few. I've seen it in our news-readers, teachers, politicians... not just the every day Joe. Chuck
  18. _______________________________________ Cold weather is... approaching! Chuck

  21. ____________________________________ That's not blues... that's 'bubble-gum'. Chuck Okay. Carol King wrote the song. I'm sure that I could play it as a blues song. In fact, I'll try it sometime. ____________________________________________ That, would be a helluva trick! Turning Monkee's or Carol King's music into 'Blues'! I don't think, the world is ready for that! Robert Johnson, just rolled-over! Chuck
  22. ______________________________________ I saw that one on Saturday Night Live! Hilarious! Chuck

  25. ______________________________________ Ahhh! A blues afficianado! (sp) I've got a ton of blues music. Re-mastered, of course. Could you imagine having original 78-RPM's? How about a little: "On A Monday" Do you know, who did that one? Chuck
