_________________________________________ Well, hell! I don't know what to tell you. How cold is it where you are at? Here, in beautiful West Texas, it's a balmy 70-degrees! Chuck

Ken is black now. ____________________________________ Ken is also 'metro-sexual'! Chuck Didn't Ken and Barbie break up, anyway? _______________________________________ I don't know why, Ken would want that 'tramp' back! He's off to bigger and better things now. A whole new look, he's discovered his 'feminine side', he's got it all and Barbie, dumped him. I say; "You GO boy! Hell, he'll probably wind-up on Oprah, next!!! Chuck

I think the term "bling bling" was first made popular by a rap song. You mean you don't listen to much rap? (heh heh) Walt ________________________________________ I don't want to step on any toes here but... fuck that rap, hip-hop shit! I got a dope-runnin' neighbor that likes to come into the neighborhood about 2-in the morning blarin' that shit. We've called the cops and we've tried to shut him down... to no avail. There's no heart or 'soul' to rap. it's just anti-police, anti-social bull-shit. That's my last word on that matter! But, you knew that, Walt! Chuck

It took me a while to understand but, when I first heard the terms 'ching-ching' and 'bling-bling'... I thought someone was talking about mating pandas! Chuck

Thank you, Mr. Baumchen, for what you have written. I think, you've clarified things quite well and made a substantial point. I've always felt that, the manufacturer has the last word on their product and to me, what they say goes. After all, I could not see where, any manufacturer would want to stick their chin out, knowing our litigous society. Thank you, again. Chuck

Why not? ___________________________________ In those situations, the harness-containers were set-up with RSLs that were hook-ed-up. It has been explained to me that when an RSL is a part of the system, you wouldn't want the 'non' RSL side to release after the RSL side. An entanglement with the deploying reserve could result. Make sense? edit to add: I can't see where a harness container system without an RSL would have a problem with both risers releasing equally, at the same instant. Chuck

Good lord! I've had several folks wanting me to trim their cables so that both risers would release at the same exact time. I refused and explained 'why not'. I've seen where folks took it upon themselves to 'trim' their cables and with each opening, complain about the cables coming out of the channels. I have never, seen anything like you described! Chuck

No more calls, we have a winner! Sparky __________________________________________ Thanks, Sparky. Just seems like the 'common sense' approach to the subject. I guess, you've also, seen some 'chop jobs'!? Chuck

_____________________________________ Best 'hot-tip' I can give you, since I can't see the rig first-hand. Get it to a rigger... Master or Senior. They may (more than likely not) charge for checking-out the rig for you. To point-put all the things to look for would take too much page length. A rigger can also tell you if the asking price is fair or not, also. This is one reason us riggers are 'out there'. Good luck. Chuck
-
________________________________________ I would suggest, FWIW, either call the manufacturer of your harness-container for their recommendations or, get your rig to a rigger and let them do it. I've seen too many cables cut to in-correct lengths. Chuck

Bottled Water is Environmentally Unfriendly

___________________________________ I've drank some of the tap water as well as some of the water from streams in Wyoming... good stuff! Years ago, I lived in a small town in Southeastern Colorado. The first glass of (tap) water I got there, had an irradecent film on it. Definate reason to drink bottled water. Chuck -

Several years ago, Saturday Night Live did a skit on Perrier water. They panned a beautiful mountainside, complete with a cold stream complete with rapids. All, while telling of the merits of Perrier water. They then showed a man, behind a barn, filling green bottles from a water hose. Maybe, there's more truth to that than we think. Chuck -

Are you going to collect on the insurance? _____________________________________ You asked if, he was going to collect on the insurance. Reminded me of an incident a year or two ago. Our DZ was closed for about a month. at the time. One of my customers called me and told me his gear... everything, had been stolen! He told me that he had left it in the trunk of his car and when he came out of the gym one evening, his trunk was open and all his gear was gone! He filed an insurance claim and recieved a check in the amount to cover a Javelin Odyssey, Sabre-2, 170 and a PD reserve, etc. and all sorts of 'goodies'. He had taken a copy of Para-Gear with him to the insurance company and used that as an example to show what he had lost. In the mean-time, I had to go to the DZ to get some student rigs to work on. I was checking around and saw a gear bag. Whaddya know... it was the guy's gear!!! I called him, immediately and told him what I found. He later showed-up at the DZ with a Javelin Odyssey and etc., and sold the Dolphin and his other 'stolen' gear. I guess, that's how you collect on insurance. Chuck

Has "tipping" gone to far or am I just cheap?
masterrig replied to GogglesnTeeth's topic in The Bonfire
I firmly believe in tipping... especially wait-staff. Too many of them are single parents or college students and they live off their tips. At the time, it may be the only job they can get until something better comes along. Most of the wait-staff I've seen, work their butts-off. Sure, you're going to run across that 'one' who gives poor service. I deal with them differently. Yes, they are there to 'serve you' but, they are also trying to live. Chuck -

Awhile back, my wife and I went out for dinner. On the credit card slip, it had a place (of course) for the tip. I wrote in, an amount equal to 15%. A couple days later, I got a call from my credit card company asking if I really wanted to tip an amount over $150.00! I about crapped! Seems as though, the waitress had 'adjusted' the tip on the bill. I of course, said no and verified how much I intended to tip. I also called the restaurant!!! My wife and I went back to that restaurant that week-end and asked for that waitress. The reply was; "She no longer works here!" Hee, hee! Chuck -
