I saw 'Myth Busters' recently and they were 'testing' the 3-second rule. The subject came-up of toilet seat cleanliness. After taking samples from various places, the toilet seat was 'cleaner' than the table in their lunchroom! I heard an interesting story, on this morning's news. A California woman had quit her job to give birth to and raise her first child. After 7-yrs., she decided to get back into the work-force. After applying for jobs, she discovered that an illegal alien in Texas had her Social Security number. She also recieved a very large bill from the IRS for back taxes during the time she was out of work. Social Security would not issue her a new card. After much time and effort, the IRS gave her a '0' - balance. In the end, she is still trying to get the matter resolved, cannot work because noone will accept her Social Security card. On the other side, the illegal alien who holds her Social Security number is still working the same job, has still not paid any taxes and is still living in Texas. I also learned from this news story that a bill was recently passed where illegal aliens canrecieve Social Security benefits. Tell me, there's not a problem! Chuck

I failed to mention, I went through weeks of pain but, was in no position at the time to have it fixed. I basically worked around it. What's even worse is the UK courts are the ones that decide how much of a victim they are. Which, in my simple terms, works out to be, "Are you hurt? How much? That's not too bad. Go on home then". It's the criminal that gets the consideration over there. I don't know this with certainty, but I would imagine the criminal gets to go into some sort of court mandated treatment program, that does two things: 1) Keeps these programs going, 2) Keep the people in those programs employed. I read an interesting article in, I believe, the Wall Street Journal recently on the UK criminal court system. Criminals basically commit 10 crimes before they're caught. Then, they repeat this cycle another 10 times before they're sentenced to jail time. The stories that come out of the UK regarding citizens rights to defend themselves and property are staggering. Granted, there are something like 60 million people living in a country the size of one of our large states. They may be of the mind that for the overall population the risks of these incidents are worth what ever costs are perceived to letting the citizenry defend themselves. _______________________________________ It's not a whole lot different here. Due to jail and prison over crowding, repeat offenders get 'Extended probation'. For example, a car burglar breaks into 30 - 100 vehicles, before getting caught. At the time of his arrest, he is on probation. The judges 'extend' their probation another year. All this does is makes the car burglar mad because it upset his routine while he was in court. The 'victim', gets higher insurance rates. Our Jeep, was recently broken into. The side windo (soft top) was sliced so as to allow the little bastard room enough to remove two speakers. I was able to get the materials and repair the side window and my wife found similar speakers in a second-hand store. It worked-out cheaper than us going through our insurance co. Chuck

Well, the UK already confiscated all the handguns and semi-auto long guns. Now they're currently after all the knives, even proposing mandatory 2-year prison sentences for anyone caught carrying a pocketknife. I'm sure they'll work their way down to cricket bats some day soon. _____________________________________ They take that stuff serious! Another reason I love this country. I can own a firearm! Damn, Chuck, I've been told by people on this site that these immigrants are just "ole Pedro" sauntering in from Mexico because he and his family are starving and he just wants a menial farm job to support his family. Now you got "ole Pedro with high-tech cell phones, with V-Cast, organizing job pools for family and friends from back home, counterfeiting documents, and taking fairly high paying factory jobs. _____________________________________ You are so right! The illegal alien problem has been with us for a very long time. The real problem started when 'raids' on businesses was halted. You can thank the lobbyists for that. I recall, back in the 70's, 80's, we read of raids on businesses for illegal aliens. Then, all of a sudden they stopped. Big business found a way to hire them and get away with it. Raids wre started-up here, recently and there was such a scream in this country! Well, the I&NS, backed-off. To keep the flow of 'cheap' labor coming, such programs as 'catch and release' were implemented. Basically, when an illegal was apprehended, he was given a 'promise to appear' summons and let go... catch & release. You have more than enough fingers on one hand to count the number of illegals who 'appeared'. When businesses who hire illegals are fined and fined 'stiffly', stripped of their illegal help. Much of the problem will go away. You stop and think about how many illegals sneak across the border and take-p living here and multiply that number by 5-yrs., that is a lot of people and we're running out of room. The politicians, need to get off their collective butts and do something about it. It could get real ugly, on our Southwest border! Chuck

Sounds like a 'Negative Impact' to me! I see that same type thing here, where I live. What used to be good paying oilfield jobs are going to illegals willing to work on drilling rigs and work-over rigs for half of what these jobs used to pay. They don't get raises, 2-weeks vacation, no benefits because they are worked under 'full-time'. You bet, they know other illegals! When a job opens-up where they are employed, they get on their cell-phone and call their friends or relatives back home and the job is filled! The company I used to work for, sold-out. the new owners, gradually fired all the old hands and hired hispanics for minnimum wage. So on and so on. There are a lot of folks who look at this as no big deal. That's what America is al about... getting rich! What about the poor working stiff who wants and needs a job, who is a citizen of this country and would like the same things the 'fat cats' have but can't get a good job because some illegal is doing that job? It would appear that the name of the game is 'greed'. Plain and simple. That's why the spread between the very wealthy and the poor is getting greater. We were doing pretty good, before we had 12+ million illegals to deal with. Folks were working and making a decent living. I'm tired of hearing how these illegals only take the jobs that white men won't take. That's plain and simple bull-shit. Check the factories and assembly lines up North or the mid-West! The what used to be good paying construction jobs. The folks hiring them don't check 'papers'. The illegals can get all the paperwork and more they need to get the 'good' jobs. Interesting idea in principle; but on a practical level, how do you implement it in a way that's feasible? They get paid in cash. Anyone can convert cash into a bank draft at any bank, or even just a money order at the 7-Eleven, no questions asked. How does the kid behind counter at the 7-Eleven differentiate between a money order destined to be cashed inside the US from one destined to be sent outside the US. Do you propose to have every piece of mail sent outside the US opened & inspected for its contents? Even if it were, how would the inspector know whether the person sending the mail is a citizen, legal immigrant or illegal immigrant? __________________________________ Damned good point. The powers that be, seem to know how much money is leaving the U.S. for South of the border. They must have a good idea who is sending it and when. I know here, much of it is done with bank transfers. Seems like the bank making the transfer would know where the bank on the other end is. I really don't know if, every place in Mexico, Central America, etc. accepts 7-11 money orders. I know of places here that don't accept them. Bank of America advertises here, special rates for transfers to Mexico. There's a good place to start taxing! Chuck
