  1. ______________________________________ A hook, line and good bait, works better! Anybody tryin' to lasso a fish, is either damned good with a rope or had too much moonshine! Hell, I'd probably have trouble tryin' to cross the road in Hartford, Connecticut on both feet! He circled the town square 101 times? That's what i call a repeat offender! It's really amazing, some of the laws on the books, all over this country. The politicians just keep stackin' more and more on what's already there! Interesting stuff. Chuck

    Mierda!

Reminds me of a buddy of mine who wanted to know a young lady's age. The young lady spoke only Spanish. "Quantos anos, tiene usted? (No tilde over the 'n' in 'anos'.) Needless to say, the conversation ended right there! Chuck

  6. I'm with Rob, on this one. Don't tell any of our students, who had big grins on their faces after soft landings under (pre-Aerodyne) PISA - Skymaster mains. They hold-up and perform quite well and easy to pack. Aerodyne makes some really high quality gear. Chuck
  7. There are vintage clothing places, all over the net. I've seen them for all eras. Victorian, The 60's, Revolutionary war, Civil War, Edwardian... you name it. Some of them even supply costumes for movies. edit to add: Try Yahoo search. Chuck

    Bull fighting

I'm also aware of the stupid 'rumor' about the back cinch rope used. ---------------------------------------------------------- I am not sure I understand your point here. Since you have been around the sport. I assume you know its called a flank and that it does not in any way touch the bull's genitalia. So I am confused with what you mean by this. ============================= I made reference to the bull rides held in some of the little Border towns and in the 'interior' of Mexico where sharpened spurs are used. I've seen the videos... they've been shown on network T.V. ----------------------------------------------- I have never heard of this practice but being that they have no issue with bull fights there, I don't doubt it to be possible. ========================== ____________________________________ I've heard that rope referred to both ways but, to be correct, you are right in reference to the flank. Yeah, I've seen videos of riders jabbing their sharpened spurs into the ribs of the bull to keep the rider from falling off. With enough cerveza in them, some of the riders don't even use a bucking rope. By the way, I wasn't mad or upset by anything you said. Chuck

    Bull fighting

Just to clarify a bit: First I was born in and completely descend from Spain, which is where bull fighting originated and unfortunately still exists. I am not by any means a fan of bull fighting and agree with you that it is a barbaric sensless activity. However, to clarify Mexico. They do not ride bulls there, that is an American tradition. They fight them there, as they were taught to do so by the Spanish. Unfortunately they did not learn how to run an otherwise orderly, first world country. But instead took some of the shameful traditions of Spain and ran with them. Finally to address bull riding, the American tradition. I know a little something about this, as I have done it, see picture of me attached. First of all the spurs are NOT sharp. If you want, I can show you all my bull riding equipment. Next to get all tearful from a person riding a bull just shows a complete lack of understanding of the sport. A bull that is ridden can typically weigh from 1300 pounds (a very light one) to 2700 pounds. If you want to imagine how much a person riding a bull can hurt it. Picture a two year old child with dull spurs on his little boots and think how much he could hurt you. Also the stupid rumours about stuff being done to the bull's testicles to get him to buck are just that, stupid rumours, made by people who have no clue about the sport. It kind of reminds me of when we as skydivers role our eyes to a whuffo who says something stupid like somebody's shoot didn't open when they actually had a landing accident. ____________________________________ Whoa, there! I am fully aware of bull-riding in the U.S. Though I have never ridden a bull, I know U.S. bull riders and am well aware of their equipment. I know exactly, the type spurs they wear... that 'tickle' rather than gouge or harm the animal. I'm also aware of the stupid 'rumor' about the back cinch rope used. I watch the PBR on OLN, religiously. I'm also, a working cowboy. I made reference to the bull rides held in some of the little Border towns and in the 'interior' of Mexico where sharpened spurs are used. I've seen the videos... they've been shown on network T.V. Yes, they fight them there... it's a big deal in Mexico. I know of bull riders straight from Mexico, who learned to ride bulls IN Mexico. A lot of care has been taken in this country toward bucking bulls! The treatment that 'Coyote', 'Hotel California', 'Little Yellow Jacket' (ret.) and all the others get is more than good. They get the best of everything. It's 'big' money. It's the riders that get the mis-treatment! Also, I've worked bulls and been around them and know what they weigh from birth. Chuck

    Bull fighting

__________________________________ I believe, I sense a bit of sarcasm. I agree! I think, setting a bull's horns on fire just to watch what he'll do is wrong. Some traditions, need to die a sudden death. Like circumcising women in some countries. Chuck

    Bull fighting

I never really, understood all that 'macho' stuff connected with bull-fighting. It all seemed rather senseless. Dramatically killing a bull? I've watched films of bull-fights and have found myself laughing out loud when I see a bull fighter getting the short end of the 'deal'. I don't care for the way bulls are ridden in Mexico, either. The riders where long, very sharp spurs and jab those spurs into the ribs of the bull... so they don't fall off! Since you've pointed it out, it all seems sensless. BUT, it's 'tradition'. It's been done that way for all these years. Chuck

  17. I have the same problem. I would know the information but, would freeze-up on tests. Talk with your doctor about this. There's no reason why, you shouldn't do well on tests. I take medication for it to this day. All the best to you. Chuck

  20. ______________________________ That would be good. Until then, we just have to deal with it. I've found, picking the back-side (it's usuall looser) of the bar-tack is much easier to remove. I start at one end, wourk my thread pick along and just under all the stitches and use the cutter portion of the pick and cut all the stitches. Turn it over, pick the first broken thread and they'll all come out. Then, carefully pull the straight stitch. Chuck
  21. If they are sewn then the rigger needs to replace the lower lines and then they can cut the length to the desired length. ________________________________ Rather than go through replacing the brake-toggle line, I've carefully picked the stitches where the finger-trap is sewn. It's really not all that difficult. Chuck
