__________________________________ Just for contrast... Here in West Texas (the oil patch) The local Cadillac dealer, cannot keep-up with the demand for Escalades. The local Hummer dealer is selling-out and so-on, with other 'gas guzzling' SUV's. Locally, gas prices for un-leaded regular is about 10 - 15 cents above natl. average. The search for more oil, has greatly increased in this part of the country. There's jobs galore in the oil-field, mostly rig hands. In the late 70's - early 80's, we had a 'boom' where the shallow wells were drilled. Now, the oil companies are going back in and drilling deep wells, Also, while prices of gasoline were soaring to $2.99 a gallon, the SUV's never slowed-down. Noone parked them and there was also an increase in the sales of 'big' pick-up trucks, mostly diesel. The 'guage' of prosperity here is, higher prices for a barrel of crude... the economy is up. I've heard some folks say, they would like to see the price of gas 'stay' above $3.00 per gallon... that means, folks are working in this part of the country. Chuck

I have great respect for police officers, but petty harassment for the sake of petty harassment turns my stomach. ___________________________________ Not, petty harrassment. They could've gotten him with 'possession with intent to distribute' (considering the amount). Everyone on the bus, claimed the dope was 'theirs'. It's basically a 'slap on the wrist'. Not petty harrassment at all. The cop was more than fair. Issued tickets all-round and sent them on their merry ways. On the other hand, how can you have 'great respect' for police and in your opening statement, call the police (in this case) 'douchebags'? Doesn't make sense. Chuck Chuck, you & I have dialoged with each other enough about criminal justice & police issues that you should know I do respect police, but I also get outraged at police abuses. They're in no way inconsistent. Any professional - police officer, lawyer, doctor, teacher, clergyman, skydiving instructor - who uses his position to pursue his own agenda (which I consider to be an abuse of position) is a being a douchebag. You & will simply have to agree to disagree on whether bustin' ol' Willie and searching his home-on-wheels was or was not petty harassment. They could have, and should have, just left him the hell alone. He was a well-known long-haired, counter-culture target of opportunity, and they went after him, plain and simple. That's all. Trucks and busses, must stop at the scale houses (when open) for 'checks' of log books, registrations, licensees and etc. It's not like they caught him on the roadside smokin' weed. Actually, if the stuff is in one bag (not separate bags), they can't get you with intent to distribute. You can claim personal use, as long as all of it is in one bag. _______________________________ There ya' go! It would've had to have been in smaller, separate packages for an 'intent to distribute' charge. Personal possession of that amount in one package... A misdemeanor. Also, I don't think, there was any favoritism shown in this case, either. The cop did his job and no skin off Willie's nose. Probably get a small fine and probation. Chuck

After removing the tape, to remove adhesive residue left on the rings, use a little WD-40. Spray a small amount on a clean rag. Carefully wipe the adhesive off the ring. Wipe any residue of WD-40 off with a clean rag. The rubbing alchohol won't 'harm' any part of the rig but, I've found that rubbing alchohol doesn't really remove the adhesive residue but tends to harden it. The WD-40, breaks-down the adhesive and makes removal easy. Chuck

I was going to purchase something the other day and didn't because, the entire label was in Spanish except for the product name and the fact it was; "Made In The U.S.A."!! Chuck

Some Dems who learned that their money came from Abramoff decided to voluntarily return teh money, other didn't and some are giving it to charity. Some have probbaly spent it and considered it into their campaign funding, so it would put them in arrears if they had to give it back.
