The only thing I'm afraid of is a mad woman! In finding that story, I found that none of them told the 'rest of the story'. Just typical of the media. Chuck

That may be, but it never stopped a straight guy from exploring it anyway. I heard a comedian once say that as a newborn male, they fight to get out then spend the rest of their life trying to get back in! Chuck

It's certainly plausible that he may have a sweet heart deal, like a credit card's 2% min payment plan that would never be fullfilled. But he at least has something in place, rather than outright defiance. Because if he didn't, he would have been in trouble in 2008 when Bush was still President (I saw stories go back that far), and he would likely be in trouble in 2017. But still, the burden of proof is on the person that presents him as tax evader. Considering his track record, I wouldn't trust him. The guy comes across as a 'con man', pure and simple. We'll just have to wait this one out, I guess. Chuck

I looked through several articles that popped up with that google expression. I did not find any saying Al has paid his tax bill. The one article I found (dated 22-Feb-2013), Sharpton: Hardest Working Man In Show Business?, has the following quote at the bottom of the article: So, unless you have a more specific source, I'm beginning to conclude that he hasn't paid his tax bill. 'favorable outcome' = he (his group) talked his way out of it. Chuck

Race card? ?? Really? Good night Well, if you had even attempted to defend the choice with actual facts, rather than ignore the rebuttal...instead you send a message of "don't bother me with reality - I'll agree with false comparisons if they support my stance." masterrig - it's improbable that I'm going to have his tax receipts, but it's really not my burden to prove his innocence. Unless substantiated, I'm going to happily presume that the graphic creator was placing loose with the facts, and not for the first time, I'm sure. People will repost all sorts of wrong shit without thinking. I wasn't inferring that you would have a receipt but rather one of your sources might. I'd be willing to bet a six-pack of your favorite beverage that Sharpton slicks his way out of paying by tossing out the 'I'm buds with the prez' card. Chuck

Schuyler, Crouch, Warren, ... I don't know if this counts as a credible source but, a few years ago I watched a story on '60-Minutes' about televangelists. It was pointed out that followers of t.v. preachers want and expect these 'preachers' to live lavish lifestyles. Little old ladies send their SS checks to them and people even mortgage their homes to send them money. It's my opinion, these 'preachers' are nothing more than con artists in the name of God, preying on the weak. Chuck

I'm still waiting on kelpdiver's help sharing his cursory review of this. I personally haven't been able to find anything, yet. I do find it interesting that the IRS would allow someone who works for a non-profit to make payments on a near $2MM dollar debt, and still have the president show up for dinner... He's certainly not hurting, considering his lifestyle. Someone's 'profiting' from that 'non-profit'. All he does is 'stir the pot' and makes money from it. People seem to have forgotten the way he 'used' Tawana Brawley and people honestly trust him? Chuck

Question... do your sources show a 'receipt of payment for even one, from Sharpton? Chuck
-
Please don't tell me that is your source... You strike me as a thoughtful person. Please, don't tell me that is your source. My question is, has that former drug dealing, counterfeit preacher made a payment, yet? Chuck

Would you council any of your clients to ever point a gun at any LEO??? I've always understood, you don't take a knife to a gunfight. Chuck

pffft....any phys ed major can tell you that You bet! Have you ever heard that album? It's pretty funny. ----------------------------------------------------------- I never heard the one of him singing. That was the era of Shelly Berman, Bob Newhart, Rusty Warren and others. Chuck ---------------------------------------------------------- I have 4 albums from that period. Plus the horrible one where he sings (Hooray for the Salvation Army Band - it's so bad). The original LPs and we also put them on CDs to make sure I don't lose them. I'm pretty sure they are the following: Why is there Air Wonderfulness I Started Out as a Child Revenge One of them is in the '200 mph' sleeve, but it's not

Precisely. In reading Lawrocket's post, it brought to mind that quote from an old Bill Cosby record; "Why is There Air?" Chuck

Negative. Bundy is almost certainly going to ultimately lose, but that is also not the point of this thread. It's about the anarchist attitudes. Clive Bundy is like Oliver North. Oliver North was a criminal who should have gone to prison. Problem: the government decided to put on a public kangaroo court, looked arbitrary and wanted to use him to send a message and within a couple of days he was viewed as a hero BECAUSE he stood up to a senate and wouldn't put up with their posturing crap. Here's an idea: the government cuts off the paramilitary SWAT shit for everything. Here's another idea: the government doesn't set up limited First Amendment zones (exception: military bases). Another idea - the government is open and allows filming of whatever it's doing. Big point - the government is second to pull out the guns. ...and must march in a straight line and wear red. Chuck

The hail is O.K.! It was small and didn't hurt anything. It'll melt and soak into the ground. The ground was so dry and dusty, the rain cut deep ruts in the ground. I had to go out in it to get my horse and burro into the barn. The storm had them pretty shook-up. The winds were blowing 40 - 45 mph. It's been a long time since we've seen one like that. Bottom line... we got some moisture!! Chuck

We just got 30-minutes of high winds, 1" of rain and 2" of pea-sized hail! Just wanted to thank you for the good wishes for rain! Chuck

Sounds like a wonderful neighborhood. My wife does _NOT_ allow me to use power tools. She's worried about innocent bystanders... Does that include sharp objects? ChuckI'm guessing chain saws are right out. Don Oh...absolutely! He is a good sport about it, though. Chuck

when you are caught with your pants down around your ankles, what do you do? I'm not touchin' that one! Chuck

And this friend of yours, the Border patrol agent, would deserve to be shot and killed by some of his fellow Americans for doing nothing more than his job? He's a bit too sly and better shot! 19 years ago today, some Militia in Oklahoma City decided that they didn't like the direction this country was going, we all know how that ended. Yup! Chuck

Sounds like a wonderful neighborhood. My wife does _NOT_ allow me to use power tools. She's worried about innocent bystanders... Does that include sharp objects? Yessir! It's a real good 'neighborhood'. It's all ranch country Chuck

Reminds me of a local rancher I cowboyed for, for years. He has a degree in chemistry and mathematics, retired Border Patrol Agent, self-taught machinist with a full machine shop, can make just about anything and fix everything. He's a member of our local water board. Owns and flies his own plane and you name it. His son and I made a leap out of his plane and landed on the ranch just shy of the roping pen. His kind can be found throughout the agricultural community. Chuck

wrto GeorgiaDon, I've done the same. It's always a nice thing to actually learn something from someone in a discussion. GeorgiaDon is very consistent with that. +1 Learning 'book knowledge' is good. Mixing that with 'practical knowledge' is real good and that is what GeorgiaDon brings to the table. Also, he has an open mind. Chuck

I disagree. If he really is a tax cheat, is he avoiding or evading the tax? The former is legal while the latter is not. At any rate, if he is being glorified it is by people who hate all taxation. In this case, taxation to unnecessarily protect a tortoise. IMO, he is being glorified for taking a stand against the abuse of power by the federal government. They won their case on appeal. Armed BLM thugs were not required to enforce the federal position. Just to be clear, I do not like the EPA, the BLM or the Sierra Club. I understand that some form of taxation is required. Very good...#1!! Chuck

*** BLM made further cuts in grazing use in the early fifties and again in the sixties. In 1970 1,500 acres of tortoise habitat were fenced and closed to all grazing by livestock. Sheep use was eliminated. Four years later Coombs (1974) reported 39 tortoises per square mile. Between Hardy's census in 1948 and Coombs' census in 1974, livestock grazing was reduced 100 percent. There was a 74 percent reduction in tortoise density. If this is really about the tortoise, why is BLM killing them by not allowing cattle to graze? Sounds nonsensical to me, having read this paper. Thanks for posting that... very informative!! Chuck
