There ya' go! For some strange reason, this government will not stand-up to the Mexican government. A land owner can't protect his home and family from Mexican invaders. Just boggles my mind. It makes no sense. Chuck

Chuck wasn't talking about law enforcement personnel, Bill...but you already knew that. Thanks, Mike! Chuck

Even so, if you're legally carrying a gun and someone shoots at you are you really going to be prosecuted for defending yourself? In Texas? It would probably cause a damned international incident! I have heard stories of U.S. citizens returning fire but they kept their mouths shut. Chuck

The analogy in the OP was pretty clear. When people respond, I can only assume they are responding to the analogy. But that's not the ony thread. There are many posts that maybe not state it directly, but the sentiment is pretty clear. From dealing with immigrants, to dealing with places like Iraq (just nuke the place) etc. For many here, it would seem, deadly violence is the answer to problems. All I was pointing out is the story could very easily be written differently: Illegal immigrant, most likely a drug runner, caught and shot. FUCK yeah.. let's NUKE Mexico... and let all the former Popes sort them out. This is not an isolated incident on the Rio Grande. Mexicans have been taking pot-shots at river rafters, fishermen and hikers... on this side of the river. Aslo, a body was found floating in the river outside Presidio, Texas. What seems strange to me is, they can shoot at us but if we return fire, we go to jail! More than likely, this recent incident was the work of drug cartels but we have no proof. Meanwhile, our government sits on its fat assets and ignores the problem. Sure, they pump money to local law enforcement but we don't have enough local law enforcement to do any good. Chuck

To me, it just shows that a person can be held responsible for what they say. Regardless of the fact we have 'freedom of speech'. Chuck

Big Congrats! I went through Sandy's Master Rigger program and consider it to be about the best time of my life. They do a fantastic job at USAPR. Don't quit 'pushing' yourself and all the best to you. Chuck

California gubernatorial candidate Whitman and her maid
masterrig replied to SivaGanesha's topic in Speakers Corner
They are part of the problem. Some folks think, because they have a lot of money, they are above the law and everyone else. They knew what they were doing and are now, trying to weasel out. Typical for anyone who gets caught doing wrong. Chuck -
I've heard that, before! Chuck

From the title, Ithought I was in SC... sorry. Chuck

California gubernatorial candidate Whitman and her maid
masterrig replied to SivaGanesha's topic in Speakers Corner
But Chuck... they are the special people. In our capitalist system... they are the ones who matter. Its what everyone is supposed to be aspiring to be. People like Whitman are what America is all about. The laws and justice system is for sale, and they can buy all the justice they want or need. I'd be willing to bet the farm, that more politicians have illegals in their employ as we speak. Of course, none of them are aware they are illegal... yeah, right! I agree 100%, if you have the money, any politician or anyone else in power can be bought. As for Whitman, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if she wound-up the next governor of California. After all, she's helping some poor unfortunate by hiring her. We cater so much to illegals in this country and us tax payers foot the bill. B.S.!!! Chuck -
California gubernatorial candidate Whitman and her maid

I think, she knew when she hired the woman she was 'illegal'. If the truth be known, she's not the only politician who hires or has hired illegals. I think too, Whitman should be charged and fined severely for hiring an illegal. As far as I know, there is no statute of limitations on illegal aliens. Diaz should be sent-back to Mexico and Whitman should face charges. She figured, because she's a big-shot billionaire, she could get away with it. Chuck -

I don't know about that. I've listened to 'Original Gangsters' who get out of prison and are ctually shocked at the way young street kids are behaving. They find the kids at an early age, to be more ruthless and reckless in their killing, with no remorse or 'feeling'. They only want to 'out-do' the older gangers. To the parents of these kids, they are all 'good, sweet and innocent'. They feel that way either out of denial or fear of their own kids. Chuck

For fucks sake, what a cunt of a place you must live in. I don't lock my doors, I leave my keys in my car when parked in town, we all say hi when we walk past each other in the street. I admit it is not like this in the citys here but I am sure glad I live the way I do and the only want I have for a gun is to put meat in the freezer. Use to be like that here about 40 years ago. You're lucky. And then we coddled the youth and punished the parents for instilling discipline, good sense, and respect for others. Amen! Chuck

Which would entail some rather fancy shooting. chuck

Men tend to succeed far more often in their attempts. Maybe they are more serious or maybe more competent, I don't know. A slug to the temple will definately, do the job. I knew of a man who got severely drunk and decided to end it all. He used a .22-cal. Ruger semi-auto pistol. When EMT arrived, they saw 5 bloody streaks up the side of the guy's head. He seemed to have held the pistol at a 'bad' angle. All the bullets grazed his skull. I never heard of any further attempts on his part. Chuck

Does overcoming adversity make you a happier person?
masterrig replied to Nataly's topic in The Bonfire
I think, adversity makes a person stronger. To me, it's a 'guideline' to a person's character... how they handle the hard times. It sure makes the good times really good. Chuck -

Sounds to me like, the high altitude is the cause of the deep depression which leads folks to end their lives. When someone gets 'serious' about killing themselves, if a gun is handy, that's what they'll use. Men tend to use guns, women tend to use booze and pills to end it all. This whole report seems lacking and just trying to get the anti-gunners all worked-up. If, someone wants to kill themselves, they'll just do it. Chuck
