  1. Good Lord! The kid is 17 and did a dumb thing so now, he stands a chance of paying for it the rest of his life? I say, the judge give him a good talking to and tell the bailiff (in the words of Cheech and Chong) "Whack his pee-pee!" The whole thing is lunacy. It would be interesting to know some of the dumb teenage stunts some of those lawyers did. Chuck
  2. Morally, of course it does. The hypocrisy is palpable. Let me get this straight... you and all the other 'bleedin' hearts' and those who believe in let 'em all in', don't care who comes here? It doesn't bother you that they may be gang members, criminals or whatever? Just not in your back yard? Then you don't really care about this country. You just think our prisons are over-flowing... just 'let 'em all in'. Chuck
  3. I think, the only way we'll end the drug trade is end the demand from the good ol' USof A. Like that's ever going to happen. Chuck
  4. Aren't you the one who was arguing for the UN to go in and "fix" Central America? You can't have it both ways. Yes, I am. To help restore 'law and order' then get out. I wasn't referring to anything else. Chuck
  5. I'm fairly certain history is not in your favor on this. You may want to look into the shenanigans regarding Chiquita. You can, at best, say, "US Corporations did not create ALL banana republics." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Fruit_Company Ahem... I didn't write that quote. Chuck
  6. I think it's fun to watch people on their high horse get bucked-off. Chuck
  7. Isn't that Chicago's way of avoiding 'capital punishment? Chuck
  8. US Corporations did not create banana republics (though they do take advantage of them, like everyone else). Was it not UN/WB type economists that recommended these nations move from self sustaining farming to single commodity crops to sell to the 1st world for money? These nations already had a small ruling/owning class who were perfectly happy to keep it that way. (Just like much of the Arab world. Any movement to help the people has the latter waring with us.) Good example of sticking your nose in where it doesn't belong. All the big countries want every little country to be like them. What is wrong with leaving them alone, if they are happy? The big countries can't handle someone else being happy? Chuck
  9. Well, I actually worked on a neighbors strawberry farm for a number of summers when I was a kid in Northern IN. I'm pretty sure I'm not an illegal immigrant. Then show us your 'green card'! Just goes to show, people other than illegals can do that kind of work. It's good, honest work. It takes getting up and doing it. Chuck
  10. If, you think for one minute we take pride in that, you're very wrong. No one of sound mind would take pride in that. For some reason, the guilty dogs bark the loudest and try to put the attention on someone else or some other place to keep the attention of themselves. For some reason, they choose Texas. Far as I'm concerned, there are 49 other states to choose from. Chuck
  11. Already did that for two summers on a farm. Never liked picking strawberries. Too slow and too much time on the ground. Didn't mind hoeing, picking bins of corn, banding cauliflower, planting sprouts. It's actually pretty decent fulfilling work and generally not too dangerous as you're not working machinery. Gives you a good appreciation for the food on your table. Perfect for high-school ages 15-18. Landscaping is good too and generally pays better. Pickin' cotton, you have to watch-out for rattle-bugs! Sure, agricultural work is hard but there is something about it that gives you a good feeling at the end of the day... besides being tired. The school year used to be scheduled around planting and harvest seasons. The work kept kids outside and off the streets. Technology put an end to that. Now, obesity is at an all-time high along with heart disease. I recall my Dad telling me when I was a kid; "A hard day's work won't kill you!" He was right! There were many more that followed, too. Chuck
  12. http://chicagoist.com/2012/06/12/illinois_cook_county_leads_nation_i.php Gee... Texas isn't even mentioned! Chuck
  13. Except in the sense of, y'know, actual criminal misconduct. Just sayin'. Most often, they skate. Chuck
  14. I agree. The U.S. is a huge part of the problem with it's unrelenting drug problem. The junkies and 'recreational' users needing their daily fix keep the cartels and gangs in business. The U.S. is the largest customer for illegal drugs and the arrogant dope-heads don't care, as long as they get their dope. The result is, innocent people have to pay the price. Chuck
  15. Unfortunately, this happens in other states, also. Too often investigators fixate on one suspect and too quickly come to a conclusion of guilt. When it is more advisable to keep that person in mind and branch out the investigation till the real culprit is caught. Too often, law enforcement wants a quick answer and prosecutors want a quick conviction, most often for political reasons. To throw a blanket of generalities exclusively over the State of Texas is not acceptable. Incidents similar to your post happen in New York, L.A. and even in Illinois and elsewhere. You're just as guilty as the investigator who centered only on one suspect. Chuck
  16. The problem we are facing today with our border is this... http://www.nationaljournal.com/domesticpolicy/why-90-000-children-flooding-our-border-is-not-an-immigration-story-20140616 It isn't about cheap labor. Chuck
  17. Those are the laws and if they don't want to abide by them, they have a problem. What do you suppose would happen if we sneaked across the border of their country? Chuck
  18. Yup! I don't see any of these sympathizers willing to take them into their homes to feed, clothe and shelter illegals. Oh, no-no! Let 'em all in but someone else can take care of them. Like I said, they're counterfeits. Chuck
  19. Ha! I just KNEW there was a reason why my favorite American foods are Chinese and Italian. Washed down with Guinness, of course. Anyhow, Chuck, your xenophobia, no matter how it may be couched, is as old as the hills. For example, see posts 9 thru 12 of This Other Thread where it's discussed, very much with this thread in mind. ...and I just love the way you defend law-breakers who enter this country illegally and call those of us against those people xenophobes and what have you. You use our Native people and their treatment by our government over 100-yrs. ago as a cheap defense for your support of illegal entrants of this country. I have said it in these forums countless times... I am in favor of LEGAL immigrants. I am not in favor of ILLEGAL immigrants. You seem to choose to ignore that. Chuck
  20. Sure. Chuck Am I hearing this correctly... that conservatives want the UN... to interfere in our Monroe Doctrinal hemisphere???? For almost 200 years now we have taken a dim view of them thar furiners with mucking about in our private little American continents. For one thing, I never said that the UN should step foot on US soil. I was suggesing that the UN go into Central America. As usual around SC, it got twisted. Chuck Chuck Dear.... you are not listening... The AMERICAS encompasses all of our Western Hemisphere http://www.historyrocket.com/American-History/timeline/1803-1849/monroe-doctrine/The-Monroe-Doctrine-Facts.html Good point. Someone needs to handle this at it's source ASAP. Chuck
