It looks to me that the Square 1 prices are definitely cheaper than customizing, but a custom stamp would only be about the price of a packjob. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

I just had one custom made by one of the gazillion websites that will do it. I created a bit map in paint. See attached. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

I agree that analogies are bad, but i can correct your analogy as follows: A licensed jumper without ratings can only jump with other licensed jumpers. A licensed private pilot without ratings can only share flight controls with other licensed pilots. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board. -
Good observation! The article indicated it was filmed "on breath", not a single breath. It was obviously several different dives. Still pretty damn impressive. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

I suppose it falls under the NIMBY rule (Not in my Backyard). If it is a friend who could get hurt, I am more likely to take proactive steps to make sure it doesn't happen. I am less likely to protect a stranger from themselves if they don't ask the appropriate questions before becoming sexually active. If you lay down with dogs, you may get fleas. And the infected person can contemplate whatever he/she wants as long as they don't act on it. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

It is not illegal to disclose the information if it is something you learned that was not part of a health care provider - patient relationship. You can say you saw red bumps or weeping sores on his/her private parts the same way you can say you saw them with a runny nose yesterday. If the information was disclosed to you outside of a patient/provider relationship you can pass it on. If you went through the trash and found a prescription for 'genital-herpes-be-gone' and disclosed to a third party , you might be in trouble. I think the concensus is a rigger has to be onsite and generally sober "...the FAA believes that adding the word "direct" clarifies the FAA's intent that a certificated rigger must be on the premises during the parachute packing process. The certificated riggers presence ensures that he/she is readily available in person for consultation." For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

Former acrobat, just starting out in skydiving

Your previous aerial experience will help you greatly in skydiving. You probably have a highly developed sense of body position. I was a college diver and the skills I learned from 10 meter diving translated well to skydiving. Welcome to the sport. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board. -
Laws about skydiving away from dropzones.

Hey those are my posts I can't believe it is as easy as that to say my farm is a dropzone. Can I declare my suburban back yard as a temporary DZ? Please edumacate me. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board. -
I agree I understated the worth. I didn't take into account two key components of the skydiving industry 1- it is prone to lawsuits, 2 Drop zones are prone to declaring bankruptcy. I doubt many instructors realize that they might have to give back their earnings for the last 90 days to a secured creditor if the DZ files chapter 11. Talk about insult to injury. And I completely agree that nobody should be taking my advise on this and should consult an attorney. If anything went wrong by following my advise my only response would be, "it's your fault for trusting me." For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

I hesitate to give accounting advice since I am not an attorney but the answer is "no". Putting your assets in a trust does not protect them especially if you are the administrator of the trust. The primary function of a trust is estate planning and/or what to do with your assets if you become a vegetable. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

If you correctly set up a LLC you will limit your personal liability. This is useful for the millionaire playboy who just wants to teach tandems. (Haven't met one yet). You would have to be a consultant to your LLC and the dropzone would have to pay your LLC directly. They would issue the 1099 to your LLC and your LLC would issue the 1099 to you. All contracts would have to be written between the LLC and the dropzone. It is a lot of work that can be done wrong several ways. If you personally accept payment from the DZ, you can be sued as an individual and the corporate veil of the LLC won't protect your personal assets. Your mileage may vary. It is a state to state thing. Don't worry about it unless you are really rich (Deep pockets) and want to avoid being named in a lawsuit. I set one up as a SCUBA instructor, but it wasn't worth the hassle. If you don't treat the LLC as a real corporation, you won't benefit from the protection. Sec. 105.21 Parachute operations over or into a congested area or an open-air assembly of persons I guess if the private farm dropzone has 1 or less people on the ground viewing the skydive, you would be ok, otherwise you fall under section 105.21 Filing a NOTAM in Class 'E' airspace is by far the easiest way to go. It is a little more complicated than that to make your friends farm a DZ for the day. It is covered in part 105: Sec. 105.15 Part 105 PARACHUTE OPERATIONS Subpart B--Operating Rules Sec. 105.15 Information required and notice of cancellation or postponement of a parachute operation. (a) Each person requesting an authorization under §§105.21(b) and 105.25(a)(2) of this part and each person submitting a notification under §105.25(a)(3) of this part must provide the following information (on an individual or group basis): (1) The date and time the parachute operation will begin. (2) The radius of the drop zone around the target expressed in nautical miles. (3) The location of the center of the drop zone in relation to-- (i) The nearest VOR facility in terms of the VOR radial on which it is located and its distance in nautical miles from the VOR facility when that facility is 30 nautical miles or less from the drop zone target; or (ii) the nearest airport, town, or city depicted on the appropriate Coast and Geodetic Survey World Aeronautical Chart or Sectional Aeronautical Chart, when the nearest VOR facility is more than 30 nautical miles from the drop zone target. (4) Each altitude above mean sea level at which the aircraft will be operated when parachutists or objects exist the aircraft. (5) The duration of the intended parachute operation. (6) The name, address, and telephone number of the person who requests the authorization or gives notice of the parachute operation. (7) The registration number of the aircraft to be used. (8) The name of the air traffic control facility with jurisdiction of the airspace at the first intended exit altitude to be used for the parachute operation. (b) Each holder of a certificate of authorization issued under §§105.21(b) and 105.25(b) of this part must present that certificate for inspection upon the request of the Administrator or any Federal, State, or local official. (c) Each person requesting an authorization under §§105.21(b) and 105.25(a)(2) of this part and each person submitting a notice under §105.25(a)(3) of this part must promptly notify the air traffic control facility having jurisdiction over the affected airspace if the proposed or scheduled parachute operation is canceled or postponed. Income Tax - training and licensing deductions

You appear to know what you are talking about so I was wondering if I could hijack the thread for another question. If you as a professional prepare a return that gets audited and basically fails (not enough active participation in a passive loss) does the IRS go after other clients to see if you made similiar mistakes? A couple I know who used the same accountant as I do got nailed at an IRS audit. My situation is very similiar to theirs. Should I move to Canada? I don't support going down on a dog , but doesn't saying that he 'abused' the dog water down the word 'abuse'? I doubt the dog is going to have long term psychological problems or social stigma. I am sure the other dogs are still going to sniff its butt. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
