Ugh.. plane crash that hits a little closer to home..
kevin922 replied to kevin922's topic in The Bonfire
I just found out today that this plane crash had people on board that I indirectly work with. The boss(es) of the people I work with @ a govt contract were on board and didn't survive. Kudos to the pilot for being able to avoid all the houses. Kevin -
Sorry if this was already posted, didn't see it. Here ARARAT, North Carolina (AP) -- A small plane crashed shortly after takeoff in northwestern North Carolina, killing all five people on board, authorities said. The Beech A-36 went down Saturday evening in a lightly wooded area near the Mount Airy-Surry County Airport, Surry County emergency services director John Shelton said. The Federal Aviation Administration in Atlanta said the plane had left the airport en route to Elizabethtown. Shelton said it disappeared from radar screens when it was about three miles out, but the wreckage was found about 1 3/4 miles from the airport. "The assumption is that the plane was trying to get back to the airport because it had gotten into trouble," Shelton said. Investigators had found no record of the pilot making a distress call, he said. Judy Crisp, a family friend and assistant to former state Sen. Oscar Harris of Dunn, said the victims included the former legislator's son, Oscar Nathan Harris II, 32; his wife, Lisa, 31; his daughter, Sueanna, 2; and his son, Oscar Nathan Harris III, who was 10 months old. Dixie Honeycutt, another family friend, identified the other victim as Mary Scoggins, 21, believed to be a babysitter. The National Transportation Safety Board investigation Sunday was being hampered by the remoteness of the spot and muddy, rain-soaked ground, Shelton said.

Man how did you find out about that, I bet you don't even have your copy yet! :-)

woah a necklace with a 3 ring system? I'd like to see that. If only they made female clothing with that built in.. or at least a bra! :) Cutting away would be so much more fun Kevin

What are you so darn excited about.. the weather is getting worse :( It looks like all the good weather keeps getting pushed back, now the week after the boogie will be great for jumping. Ugh... :( just my luck haven't jumped for 3 or 4 weeks now because of weather. Kevin

To give some of you guys who are coming around the thursday time frame a little hope, i've setup my mardi Gras 2003 boogie photo gallery, and i'm tracking the weather forecast changes (found here) as you can see I started saturday morning and by saturday afternoon the forecast had already changed.. by today (sunday) i found out it appears vallerina will get 0 jumps in instead of the one day of jumping on tuesday (as tuesday just got shitty according to the forecast) and found out that I on the other hand have a better chance of jumping as thursday when I arrive is supposed to be possibly jumpable! This just proves that forecasters really are useless (or at least the computers that predict for them are). :-) Keep ya'lls fingers crossed.

Oh believe me, my dog is learning how to dust the apartment with his tail now. i'm not spending that much money on him to sit around and do nothing. He's gotta earn his keep now! :)
-
My god. That is horrible. in case i missed it, how much did this set you back? I spent 800 bucks on my dog for his EAR. Can't image what that set you back.
-
Jumpin?? What the hell is that? I haven't seen a DZ in 3 weeks down due to weather.. i've decided to fly down to Mississippi for the Mardi Gras boogie and looks like i'll get to see a dz but that's the extent of it.. friggin weather. I need to take up base jumping.

If you want to feel good about catching someone, have them send you the check and contact the FBI. There is a 98% chance this is a scam, as i heard the EXACT same thing going on here but with vehicle purchases. The check will bounce - they are hoping you won't wait till the check goes through to send them the money. AND they will get your rig. FBI may want to setup a sting operation, they did it before with someone else who caught the scam before they went through with it. Kevin

This is all if you continue skydiving right?

Stupid idiots.. i'd tell them to write their name down because that is a life saving device that has to be packed by a certified rigger, and thus by forcing him to opening it they are taking the liability of his life on their shoulders. BTW am i supposed to know who that is?

Is 22 young for a blackhawk pilot? Was just having one of those "moments" where you think "damn, he's my age -- i could be a helicopter pilot right now" type of things...
