what's your favorite hook turn
skygod7777 replied to skygod7777's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
well, i did say 360 or more, so i guess that would count i have tried a 540, once, i didn't like it. first it didn't do anything more for my swoop, and second, the big one, i got lucky and did it right, but it scared me that i did it right right the first time, like not to high or anything. and just didn't really like it. (i did this when i had a heatwave, with about 600 jumps.) later blue sky's and long swoops kelly "hook low, flare late.........dirt, tumble, dirt...ouch" -
what's your favorite hook turn
skygod7777 replied to skygod7777's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
now, i consider if you are flat with the canopy, it's a hook turn. you may not of snapped it around, but you're flat with horizon during you're "carve", i say it's a hook turn. others may have different opinions later blue sky's and long swoops kelly "hook low, flare late.........dirt, tumble, dirt..........ouch" -
when is a pond swoop a pond swoop?
skygod7777 replied to skyedivr's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
well, i can tell you from first hand experence. yes if you get it our quickly. i had mine out in about 30 seconds after i got it soaked. now, if the inside of the box is the slitest bit wet you really should send it to ssk. then you'll know for sure. now, i don't recomend swooping a pond with cypress. later blue sky's and long swoops kelly -
kevin, have you looked at skydive las vegas. a huge tandem factory, if you get your tandem rating, and you could shoot videos, i'm sure, but starting pay for tandems is 40K to 60K a year, and no i didn't do any math to figure that out i read it in parachutist. later blue sky's and long swoops kelly ps: i won't be able to get that canopy for you another ps: talk to jonny aout skydive las vegas(he has worked there) "hook low, flare late.........dirt, tumble, dirt.........ouch"

you can demo one, but they only have 2 sizes i beleive on the demo list. a 83 and like a 77 or something around that size. you could always order one, and if you don't like it you can send it back for another canopy, or you money back(as i'm sure you already know since you have 3 fx's) and also almost every icarus fx canopy that i have heard about, or jumped opens either hard every time, or 3 out of 5 times. later blue sky's and long swoops kelly "hook low, flare late..............dirt, tumble, dirt.........ouch"
-
yes icarus has a demo program, but right now all of the demo's are on the boogie circut. so right now you can't get one. but if you call, you may be able to get dibs on one as soon as they come off the circut, i think in about a month or month in a half. later blue sky's and long swoops kelly ps: i know this because i have called and tried to get the vx 83 demo

skygod7777 replied to alexey's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control

Cobalt Competition VS Crossfire2, wingload 2.0
skygod7777 replied to alexey's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
well, i have jumped the fx, crossfire 2, and comp cobalt, at wing loadings from 2.0 and up(all of them) i would say the crossfire 2 is up close to the fx in performance. the swoop is a little shorter, but it has better openings and lighter front riser pressure. the crossfire 2 turns quickly, and so does the comp coblalt. the main difference is the recovery arc. the crossfire 2 have a much larger recovery arc than the comp coblat. and i don't think the comp coblalt isn't close to the performace of the crossfire 2 of fx. the openings were ok, but not that great. the riser pressure is very light, a plus if you like really light riser presser, i prefere a little more. so in my opinion, i would get the crossfire 2, it's a much better canopy. later blue sky's and long swoops kelly "hook low, flare late.......dirt, tumble, dirt.........ouch" -
What are you supposed to be doing right now instead of reading this?
skygod7777 replied to VisionAir's topic in The Bonfire
well, i'm a senior in high school, and i should be doing some research, but i just really don't feel like it, so i'm reading the forums. -
that's sweet, i talked to your brother today, and he said you got a phat deal on it. later blue sky's and long swoops kelly

if you look in the back of paragear, right after were the canopy order forms are, it has pack volumes of almost every canopy out there(or at least the ones they sell) but sense i have one right in front of me, the pack volume(acording to sandy reid) is 296 cubic inches. the thing is, every canopy is different. like one batch of material may be thicker, or thiner that the other batch. it may of been really humid the day the pack volumes were taken, or it could of been really dry the day they were taken. these all effect the pack volume. so pack volumes are taken knowing that every canopy is different, so they are just a reference, not exact. another factor is how good is your rigger. not like weather it will work or not good, but can he or she make things very tight and neat. this also effects how it goes in the rig. later blue sky's and long swoops kelly "hook low, flare late.........dirt, tumble, dirt............ouch"
-
well i have never tried this, but i have heard about it before. like in the bottom of mirage containers, i believe the M-5, it says you can get a 218 in tight and a pd 176 tight, so i would guess that he is right. later blue sky's and long swoops kelly
-
now vern, why don't you ask someone at the dz???? like jonny, dad steve, rogger, greg, YOUR DAD, or brue??? and the way i look at it, no it wouldn't because if you get a javelin NJ, you can put a pd 113, raven 120, or a tempo 120, or a pdr 126(tight), and they are all different sizes(ecept for raven and tempo) right. just like for a voodoo, you dad has a V0, and he has a dash-m 109, but it was built for a 120, now he has never said that the tso is voided on his rig right. you just have to think vern, think!!! later blue sky's and long swoops kelly "hook low, flare late.........dirt, tumble, dirt......ouch"

the manufacturer that makes camera mounts for protec's is called para-mount
-
I own an ip5 and have it mounted on my nvertigo x . i would have never bought it had I known that it wasn't compatible w/ n-e-thing . Unfortunately I diddn't know , and bought it . When I tried to take it back the next day , they tried to charge me a 15 % restocking fee , so now i'm stuck with it . It still does the job . you can s-video to other camera's to edit the footage on older software , but that is just an extra step that's pretty time consuming if your a busy skydiver (and it requires the use of another camera) . There are a few other things that are not "skydiver freindly" . If you mount the camera on the left side of you helmet , the start/stop button is against the helmet on the side (but there is still room to get a finger in there to turn it on) also the zoom is right next to the start stop , and veery sensitive . so sometimes when you turn the camera on you can accidentally hit the zoom . I hope that they come out with a "skydiver freindly" version soon , and that's what everybody switches to in the future. That way , I can firewire to everyone elses camera , instead of having all my good footage trapped inside that tiny little camera! hook low flare late vern (freeflyswc posing as skygod7777)

would triple risers be of any advantage if you flare with rear risers first and then go to toggles? hook low flare late freeflyswc (posing as skygod7777)
