Unemployment below 4% for a longer time than any since records were kept (so like back to WW2 or so). Inflation below historical averages. Wages going up faster than inflation.

Meh. I've seen a few of the videos of the Secret Service agents having a bit of a struggle to re-holster their pistols. It's not always an easy feat to accomplish. The holster usually isn't visible, so it's done by 'feel'. Cover garments get in the way. The adrenaline is starting to wear off (you don't put the gun away until you're reasonably sure it's over) and THAT'S when the shakes start to set in. Most importantly, the videos I saw showed them maintaining muzzle discipline and keeping their trigger finger out of the trigger guard (off the trigger AND away from it altogether). Most importantly, none of them shot themselves in the foot or leg. A huge portion of unintentional discharges result from bad re-holstering. Many also cause self inflicted injury. There were a LOT of screwups at that event. Many by the Secret Service. But the videos of the agents going around don't show them.

Out of curiosity, I searched "Atlanta Promenade" and found that there's a very tall building called the Promenade Tower. 40 stories, almost 700ft. Finished in 1990, so 'under construction' would have been the end of the 80s. That's about 35 years ago. So, yeah, 'that long ago'. Add in the fact that that was an era when both skydiving and BASE were pretty dangerous, then it's a bit more understandable that none of the others are 'left to tell the tale'.

Naaahhh. It's just denial. They love Trumpty Dumpty. They aren't pieces of shit. Only a piece of shit could love a rapist. Therefore, Donnie Von Schitzenpants isn't a rapist.

Maybe. Or maybe he was a male prostitute who Trump refused to pay.

Well, it's going to be some time before new ICE cars will no longer be available. And one of your links was for a requirement for a state government fleet to be all zero emissions. I'm going to guess that both of us may well be beyond our driving years by then. And even when there are no more new ICE cars, used ones will be available for quite some time. Cars are getting better and more durable. I remember when a 5 year old car with 75k on the odo was considered 'old'. A friend on a tight budget is looking for a serviceable car for around town. She's finding cars upwards of 20 years old that fit her needs and budget. My last car was 19 years old, with 142k on the odo when it finally reached the end (bought it at 10 1/2 with 103k). The previous one to that was 18 years and 95k. And I got $2k for it. I remember the early/mid 70s when the emissions rules tightened up. Catalytic converters were going to 'kill the automotive industry'. Lead free gas was going to 'destroy all the engines out on the road'. What really happened is the air got a LOT cleaner, lead levels in kids plummeted and a few cars were no longer available. You couldn't get an air cooled VW anymore. IIRC, the only air cooled engines being sold in the US were Porsche. That's because the factory and the customers were willing to pay the price to make them compliant and keep them being made. You can still buy just about any car (from any period in time). Some are hard to find, some are stupid expensive. Some are rather silly. Do you want an AMC Pacer? They're out there. I fully understand those 'strict' rules. E-scooters are pretty dangerous. 15 is faster than a lot of people realize, and those things handle like crap. Head injuries and deaths from them (both with & without helmets) are pretty common. I have to ask: What is your 'performance vehicle'? I know the Aussies are pretty solid gear heads and some of them are really cool (original Mad Max and all that). I have a Porsche 928 (posted a pic a couple months ago), and last fall bought a Chevy Bolt EV. Utterly amazing how well it fits my life. L2 charging out my back door, full battery every morning when I leave, costs me about $30/month for charging. I still have, and plan to keep the 928. Absolute ball to drive. But the cost difference is staggering. Typical 40 mile round trip commute to the cat rescue I volunteer at costs maybe $10 in gas in the 928. Maybe $2 in electricity in the Bolt. Short trips around town are no brainers. Bolt wins in a walk. Hop in, press the 'on' button and go. "Fuel" cost near zero, no worrying about properly warming up the motor & everything in the 928, and nearly as quick.

Much of the rest of the world does. China and Russia are basically salivating about it. I've read stories that indicate that some of our NATO allies are making preparations for a future without the US. And are starting to reduce what they share with US intelligence. So yeah, they understand. It's so many in the US who don't understand. Or don't care.

Pfft. We've NEVER taught accurate history. Either world or US. Edit to add: At least not at levels below University.

Pretty much. They hate who he says he hates. They want him to be a dictator so that he can do what he wants. They're just too stupid to understand that a despot doesn't care who he hurts. And too dumb to remember that. https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2019/1/8/18173678/trump-shutdown-voter-florida From the link: "He's not hurting the people he needs to be hurting".

Well, then you are financially stable and fiscally responsible. Unfortunately, not everyone is. For people who don't have much money and a 'less than perfect' credit history, getting decent interest rates is nearly impossible. While the car commercials love to tout interest rates at or near zero, the reality for many people is in the mid to upper teens. -
You said: Not stated, but clearly implied.

Wow. You seem to think that same sex couples will be the ONLY kind of couples. I never saw it as more than the 10% or 15% whose brains are 'wired' that way. And you might want to open your eyes a bit. 2 men or 2 women who are responsible, caring, educated, employed and living a productive useful life are going to be FAAAAAAAAAR better at raising children than drug addicts, career criminals or other people of that type. I know a '2 dads' couple who have 2 kids. The son is about 4 and is an awesome little dude. They just recently brought a newborn baby girl into their household. She was born to a mom who has several other kids, all of whom have been taken by the authorities. She's a long term drug addict. She's currently in prison (she was sentenced shortly after becoming pregnant). My friends welcomed the baby into their family almost immediately after birth. The county had basically taken custody away before the baby was born. The guys are planning on adopting, but that takes some time. They are currently 'officially' fostering. But, having done virtually the same thing with their son, they are quite confident that the little girl will be 'theirs' in time. That means 2 kids that are NOT in the care of the state. Not a burden on the taxpayer. Far less likely to end up 'in the system' as criminals. You know, a much better life. Just with 2 dads.

And don't forget all the people in southern Florida who had to deal with severe flooding last month.. None of the storms were 'tropical storms', let alone 'hurricanes'. But something in the neighborhood of 20" of rain in a fairly short time frame. -
Seen elsewhere: Unregulated heavy industry got us the fire on the Cuyahoga River. Unregulated chemical companies got us Love Canal & Bophal India. Unregulated banking and financial companies got us the 'mortgage meltdown' of 2008. Unregulated aerospace companies produced the Boeing 737,

Or because the Rs have shown a strong propensity to edit stuff to make their opponents look bad.

I thought it was very interesting how the report by Hur contrasted with the testimony he gave. You know, the testimony he gave under oath, where demonstrable lies would have consequences. https://apnews.com/live/hur-special-counsel-testimony-biden And also with the transcripts of the interviews with Biden. https://www.vox.com/politics/2024/3/12/24098577/robert-hur-testimony-report-biden-memory

I don't disagree with the concept that Joe is 'too nice', but he's also an experienced politician and a realist. The latest D ads have attacked Trumpty pretty hard. Last debates, Trump tried very hard to trigger Biden's stutter. He failed. Biden told him to 'shut up'. I can see Biden treating Trump with a certain level of contempt, goading him about his trial and conviction, maybe even about some of his recent incoherent rantings (electric boats & sharks, rain) and triggering a temper tantrum from him. I'd think it 'icing on the cake' if Trump went off while Biden was talking (Trump's mic shut off, but visible as he loses it) and Biden simply saying... "Shut up Donny". Not loud, but with utter contempt. I genuinely cannot see Trump presenting a coherent argument on anything. Even when has a sympathetic audience, he's not impressing people. https://www.cnbc.com/2024/06/14/ceos-at-trump-meeting-not-impressed.html -
Yeah, it's amazing how often HE throws out strawman arguments and changes the subject when his 'facts' are shown to be fabrications. Yet another reason not to engage him.

Mail is postmarked the date it's accepted by the Post Office. The delays during processing or delivery don't affect that. The claim is that ballots that were NOT postmarked were being dropped off late.
-
Nahhh. He's just assuming that the MAGA morons are gullible enough to believe ANYTHING he says. Previous behavior by his followers indicates he's not wrong.
-
I read it the other way. That Good is claiming his opponent is bringing in mail in ballots without postmarks.
