you didn't watch it did you? ha ha! It is clear what his adgenda is! No, I didn't. I remember when he was governor of Minnesota. He was a joke then too. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

The tandem manufacturers specifically prohibit taking passengers under 18 (I think all of them, somebody correct me if I'm wrong). Failure to abide by these policies can cost the TI his rating. There aren't too many that will take that risk. You need to sign a waiver before you jump. There is some debate as to whether or not a parent can sign away the rights of a minor child. (they can give permission, but not waive the right to sue). Andy seems to think not, there was a Florida case that said not, and the lawyer that wrote the waiver at my DZ said not. Some DZs are very strict about checking IDs, some less so. But if you went in with one of the "pretend" IDs you can get, you stand a pretty decent chance of getting it torn up in your face, getting thrown out and told not to come back, and finding out that the owner called all the other DZs in the area to warn them about you. Not to mention the legal issues if the owner called the cops. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." I think that depends on how you define "Seriously". He's been a SEAL (sort of anyway), He's been at the "Higher Echelons" of government (sort of anyway), and he "Knows Things". I thought "Court TV", now "TruTV" went down the tubes with "Psychic Detectives", then the Repo show. Now this Maybe they'll do a thing on 9/11 and the "earth shaking" evidence we've been waiting for since September can be revealed "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Give it a try. What can it hurt? You might find you like it. Or not. If not, then tell them you hate it and want a different way to communicate. Either way, you won't know until you try, will you? Yes well, it's probably what Ill be veiwing this Christmas. That movie is quite motivational. The helicopter assault set to "The Ride of the Valkyries" is my favorite part. Original "Grinch", my whole family loves Dr Suess. I used to have a pair of "antlers" for my little dog. He looked almost exactly like Max, the Grinch's dog with them on. Christmas Story. "You'll put your eye out", the Bunny Suit, and the Chinese waiters singing Christsmas carols Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas. It's a Jim Henson Muppet film, a little obscure but really cool. Wiki. Again, my whole family loves the Muppets. Apocolypse Now is a great flick, but I never thought of it as a Christmas movie. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Well, the cops are done with it. ESPN had the FHP spokes-officer making a statement that the investigation was over. Woods got a "Careless Driving" citation. $164 fine. I don't believe he was OWI. I think the cops are good enough to recognize if a driver has been drinking. I do think it was a domestic dispute. I now am convinced this is a religion to you and yours. Science has got squat to do with it as far as you are concerned I won't argue that the "Sky Is Falling" AGW proponents demonstrate a "Religious Fervor" in their behavior. But the "Head In The Sand" deniers aren't a lot different. A representative from the coal industry in West Virgina (on NPR a couple weeks ago) said flat out that global warming doesn't exist, that burning coal isn't hurting the environment and that alternative energy sources are hurting the US. (paraphrased - I looked for a link without success). I see both sides (in the real world and on here) as equally bullheaded. There's another thread here that is a little more one sided, where the propnent of the theory insists that everyone believe his sources while ignoring anthing that refutes them, calling it "Kook Science". Again, I see both of the extermes in this debate doing the same thing. I think the earth is a hell of a lot more complex than most people realize. And that a simple "The CO2 is increasing, CO2 is a greenhouse gas, Thermodynamics works" is as naive as saying that because the temps haven't increased in the past few years means that AGW is a myth (please explain why the glaciers have decreased more than the models predicted). No I don't think this will convince anyone in an entrenched position, but I just want to say that there are some folks in the middle here. Clicky fixed. Nobody has to "Be there" There is a blatant violation of the rules on video. The reason for that rule is that people died doing it. There is other stuff on video that very experienced TIs find objectionable. It isn't on just one video. I'm not sure how anyone can defend this. Not a TI so take it for what it's worth. We had a girl come out and do a tandem that was about 4'6", maybe 75lbs or so. She had had some developmental issues when she was young. The TI spent a few extra minutes making sure the harness was adjusted correctly, but it fit her properly. The TI had said he wasn't sure it would fit ok, and wouldn't take her if it hadn't. One of the more interesting sights was watching the TI (6' 200lbs) walking aroung with the rig on his back and the girl hanging off his chest. Her feet were just below his knees. 4 cops shot dead at a coffeee house in Washington State
wolfriverjoe replied to Lucky...'s topic in Speakers Corner
He was a suspect, and it's not clear he did anything threatening, that's what I meant by it not appearing to be a clean kill. In this case, on the basis of the older gunshot wound, I think they probably got the right guy, i.e. Clemmons was actually the shooter in Lakewood AND this was actually Clemmons. It was entirely possible though, that this could have just been some random guy or maybe someone only guilty of being a car thief, in which case shooting him dead for doing nothing other than running would have been unjustified. I'm not bent out of shape over the killing, I just wish it had been a cut & dry defensive shooting by the officer rather than him looking a little like judge, jury, and executioner. Blues, Dave It's true that this isn't totally cut and dried as a justifiable shooting, but he was recognized as the suspect in the shootings, and the acceptable level of non-compliance for a case like this is a lot lower than, say, a burgulary suspect. This cop can realistically say he felt the suspaect was going for cover to shoot at him or that the suspaect was going for a weapon in the car. The guy was suspected of already shooting at cops and was going to be facing life w/o parole or death for sure. It wasn't the "cleanest", but I'll bet it's found to be justified (and personally, I think it was). "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." I really doubt it. (unfortunately) As long as somebody has something that somebody else wants, there will be war. Africa is the best current example. Sudan. Nigeria. Zimbabwae. Kenya (a couple years ago) Congo.(a few years ago) Rwanda. (15 or so years ago) The list goes on and on all over the world. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." NPR is saying the same thing. Patrol Officer came across a reported stolen car idling on the side of the road, suspect came out shooting, and ended up dead. 4 others are under arrest for assisting him, with more arrests planned. Sorry, but no. (or actually yes, you are wrong) Dealer installed isn't manufacturer installed. And be careful (read the fine print) because certain installations will void the factory warranty, even if done by the dealer. For example, anything that goes through a body panel (outside luggage rack for example) can void the warranty on body rust because the integrity of the paint/corrosion resistant stuff has been compromised by drilling the bolt holes. jumping out of personal planes?
wolfriverjoe replied to f1racer696's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The pilot chute got loose. The wind blowing around inside the plane took it out. In that picture there was no door on the plane, in other incidents the door was open (fully or only enough for the pilot chute to escape). If you are behind the doorframe and the pilot chute goes out, bad things are going to happen. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." In WI they just have to give you the displayed price. But if the get too many complaints, or fail the random checks that the Consumer Protection authorities (they have a real name that escapes me right now) do, then they get "special attention", more frequent checks and fines if they are out of compliance. K-Mart got nailed a few years ago, but that's the only one I remember. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." That's a big "It depends". The Skydiver's Information Manual has the recommended procedures in the "emergencies" section (the link). Your instructors will go over it with you in the first jump course. THE VALUE OF THE GEAR SHOULD NEVER FACTOR INTO YOUR EMERGENCY PROCEDURES!!! Unless you think your life is only worth a couple thousand bucks. If you could come up with a small, not terribly expensive locator beacon for cutaway gear then you won't have to worry much about paying for jumps. There have been a few out there, but nothing that's really taken off, usually due to the cost (usually the cost of the ground locator part of the gear). QuoteI guess people have differing priorities, maybe I value less tangible things more than some do. I know I'm not alone though and I know why my friend of 30 years and I are so tight. I completely understood when he told me last Saturday that he'd give it ALL away and live under a bridge, for one more week with her. Quote Well, it sounds to me like you and your friend have your priorities right. And it sounds like her kids have no fucking clue at all as to what's important. They say that stress will bring out our true selves. I wonder if the kids have any clue how cruel and insensitive their behavior was, and if they will feel any remorse. Their loss if they don't. Guys pay Banesanura a lot of money to be humiliated and dominated. Other guys pay other women a lot of money to do other things that I find very strange and disturbing. If you really don't know what I mean, look in Billy's S&T thread Personally, I like to use the equipment the way it was designed, but, as they say YMMV.
