  1. I don't get the extreme dislike of Clinton. I have a mild dislike of her, but there's no arguing that she's intelligent, experienced, and qualified. I'd rather vote for an unlikeable qualified person than vote for a completely unqualified person. My dislike is cumulative and based on her behavior, not stupid rumors or the simple fact that she's a woman. Personally, I'm rather disgusted at the very blatant double standard being applied in this race. Going way back: Rose Law firm, Whitewater real estate, and cattle stock futures. Pretty clear, old school "crony corruption." Lewinski crap, going on national TV and blaming it on a "Vast Right Wing Conspiracy." Behavior (theft) both during the D-Day 50th (stole a lot of "souvenirs" from the ship they stayed on) and on exit from White House (stole furniture). During the 08 primaries, Michigan held its primary election too early. DNC said that if it was held that early, delegates wouldn't be eligible to participate in convention. Obama withdrew from primary, HRC stayed in and won. Despite knowing that delegates wouldn't be allowed, tried very hard to get them to vote for her. And of course, during latest primary, conspired with DNC to beat Sanders. Her vitriolic stance against the NRA (calling for their banning) and guns ("Australian-style" gun control means banning and confiscating) is contrary to my beliefs as well. Note that "Benghazi" or "E-mails" aren't on that list. No doubt she is well qualified to be president. Probably the most qualified candidate in my lifetime. And she will almost certainly win Wisconsin. Like Wendy, if the race against Trump was fairly close, I'd seriously consider voting for her to keep Trump out. 2. As ridiculous and pathetic as he has been portrayed (IMO, not entirely fairly), he's still less of a joke than Trump. And since there's no way I'm voting for HRC, then he's got my vote. 3. Let's see: "We decided to pull him over because of outstanding warrants" Except he didn't have any. "He rammed our car with his" Except there was no damage. "We were in fear for our lives because he had used his car as a weapon" Except he was out of his car with his hands raised. And it took SEVEN MINUTES to check the kid in the car. And the cops wonder why people don't trust them. HOW LONG have they gotten away with this sort of thing? How many of the "justified" shootings in the past were no different that this one? Except for the video evidence which has become so very common. Protect and serve my ass. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 4. There are several major flaws in the "thinking" in that article. For example: ...2. Just because some animals are continuously secreting a carbonate shell does not mean pH will not affect them. If the water is dissolving the shell at a rate that is slower than the shell is secreted, the animal will still have an abnormally thin shell. The shell thickness is a response to environmental pressures, such as predators or being pounded by waves. A thin shell is a weak shell, and may not be good enough to do the job. Once the water gets to be too acid, the shell will dissolve as it is being secreted and no shell at all will form, but the organism will be dead long before that pH is reached... Don Well, one more major flaw about coral reefs is that the reef structure itself is not alive and secreting itself. The reef has built itself over a very long time on the dead shells of previous residents. "Long time" meaning upwards of 10000 years. So any dissolving of the coral won't simply be a matter whether or not the growing coral will stay alive, it's a matter of the long dead reef structure disappearing. 5. So you still pay your subscription to Blaze TV. Isn't that media? Should you stop listening to them too? Are many people in the US this retarded? Well, it sure seems like a lot of them are. I get the "Anybody but Hillary" crowd. Many of them would vote for Charles Manson over her. I don't agree with it, but I get it. And I get the "Bigoted and Xenophobic" crowd. They want a scapegoat and Trump has given them a few. Again, I don't agree with it, but I get it. The ones I don't get are the ones who actually think he's a "successful businessman" who think he's a " real conservative", who think he's a "strong leader." They completely ignore the reality of his history. Again (as I said in post #2) he's a con man. Pure and simple. And the idiots fall for it. 6. How often do you plan on doing tandems with family & friends? Enough to stay current as a TI? I understand where you are coming from, and it sounds like a fun idea, but it might be simpler and cheaper to find a TI with his own rig who is willing to come out to your place and do a few tandems every once in a while. 7. I had to make a couple of sudden stops and a few swerves with it on my back. Yes, it changes the balance issue, and the swing is there. Expecting it to handle the same is foolish. It was more stable and predictable than a passenger. Especially an inexperienced one. I've ridden for a long time, and carried a variety of things both on my back and strapped to the motorcycle. I have a good understanding of how the different weights in different places affect the handling. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 8. Like what? Not being snarky, and certainly willing to listen. Note: I'm not talking about wearing an open rig on my back, I mean the rig and all the gear in a gear bag. I know that a "bare" rig is a bad idea. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  9. That's what I did. I really didn't have any shifting issues. The bag sat fairly well on the seat, and I didn't ride aggressively. It was also a big bag, and a stepped seat (passenger sits about 4" higher than driver) so the straps weren't extended all that much to get the bag low enough. It was also about a 30 min ride. Much more than an hour and I don't think I'd be comfortable with it, even with the weight on the seat. Currently about 2 hours from the DZ, including having to go through Milwaukee, and I haven't tried taking the cycle there. You could always try loading up the bag and taking a short ride around your neighborhood to see how you like it. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 10. And my understanding of TBI is that stressful situations, loud situations, that sort of thing make comprehension issues worse. IOW- shouting at someone with a TBI rarely makes it better. But once cops start shouting, there's usually either compliance or violence. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 11. Kinda depends on the bike. I have a Katana, and I've ridden a half hour or so to the DZ. I use a Square One gear bag. It has the backpack straps. I put it on my back, but have the straps lengthened out enough so that the weight of the bag is on the passenger area of the seat, not my shoulders. It works nicely, although I wouldn't want to go more than an hour or so that way. Other people do different things on other types of bikes. AggieDave (who isn't around much anymore) went to Nationals on a Vulcan. Gear bags strapped to both the front and back of the sissy bar. He had a couple different rigs, and all the gear and such for the entire stay. 12. True, but in the opposite of what you believe. Do you really believe the killings by LEOs are premeditated? The sniper attacks on the cops certainly were. Premeditated as in planned well ahead of time? No. But definitely intentional. Remember the pharmacist in Oklahoma City? Convicted of 1st degree murder. In a situation similar to McDonald in Chicago and Scott in South Charleston. No argument that the attacks on the cops are premeditated. 13. He's a con man. Pure and simple. Not a 'successful businessman." 10 minutes of fact-checking and background checking him shows it. It's rather depressing how many fools are falling for this. Not terribly surprising, but definitely depressing. It's also rather amusing how many people clamoring "Hillary for Prison" are willing to ignore reasonably credible fraud, bribery and child molestation charges. 15. Well, first off, the "POS" hasn't taken an oath to uphold the constitution and protect the public. Cops have. And how often does the POS "get off"? Many times they don't survive to be arrested & tried. A few people have pulled out the "open season on cops" line. Is it really? There have been a few high profile incidents where an individual attacked the police. There was one in Philly last week. The attacker was killed (as usual). Same as in Dallas, Baton Rouge & NYC. Not saying it doesn't happen, nor am I diminishing the deaths of the cops, but to compare the two is disingenuous. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 16. What is "an offical USPA logbook"? The SIM covers what info needs to be logged (sec 3-1-C), but I'm unaware of any format requirements. I'm on my third one. The first was the little student one (paper cover, stapled together, maybe 10 pages). Not the blue one from Paragear, but the same thing with a cover custom to the DZ. 2nd one was the one by Precision Freefall that the major dealers sell. 2 jumps per page, maybe 200 pages(?). I ran out of space at a boogie, and simply used blank paper to log a few more jumps. I used the same format, just without the lines on the paper. Currently using the one that came with my CYPRES. It is somewhat flexible. I use the "2 jumps per page" format from the last one, but it is set up that something like 10 jumps per page can be logged, just no room for a narrative (each jump would go into a column with the pertinent info). 17. Dude... Look at the license #s!!! 4 digit D# !! Talking smack is fun but be careful. You really don't want a verbal spanking from the skydive community. I'm really lucky to be friends with a 3 digit D# jumper and his insight and stories are incredible. I personally would love to meet this dude!! You may have already. And not even know it. Really. Sitting around a fire at SDC Summerfest and Pirate brings this fella around, introduces him as "Pat." Nice guy, has a few beers and some very pleasant conversation. I don't find out until two days later who it really was. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  18. The problem is that it isn't dealt with. None of those officers will get more than a reprimand. Hardly ever is an officer charged and convicted after helping fabricate stories, corroborating stories they know to be false, helping "brothers" who they know have committed a crime etc etc etc. Bingo - Look at Chicago. ONE cop is charged with murder. How many others were involved in the coverup? How about the ones that erased the footage from the nearby surveillance cameras? (convenience store or fast food). Considering that "clearing the browser history" has resulted in a conviction (plea deal, actually) for destruction of evidence, where are the charges in this? How about malfeasance (failing to investigate a crime) for those at the scene, those who investigated it, those who declared it a "good shoot"? Not going to happen. And the cops wonder why the public doesn't trust them when they say "I had to shoot, I was in fear for my life." "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 19. You keep harping on Obama's "Agenda", that he wants to destroy the US and our way of life. Well, he'd better get his ass in gear. He's had over 7 years, and has about 4 months left. Dow Jones is above 18k, gas is around $2/gallon (except in the Southeast due to the pipeline problems), unemployment is below 5%, GDP is up and has been growing for a record amount of time. He's done a pretty poor job of "destruction." And for the record, I didn't vote for him either time. I disagree with a variety of his policies and positions. But I can't objectively say he's been a "bad" president. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  20. We've already had this conversation, many times. No other free society on earth is as heavily armed as ours, like it or not. (With the possible exception of the Swiss). I'll repeat this once again. In my travels, all the cops I've met in other countries think American cops are nuts. Because our society is so heavily armed with weapons..................... and rights. So basically you're saying that the Second Amendment is to blame for the absurdly high number of killings by cops in the USA. Well, we have a lot of other rights too. Free speech, assembly (protests), freedom from unreasonable search and seizure, so the cops can't just do what they want (although the "seizure" part has pretty much gone away). Fair trial so that the cops have to work to fabricate charges and evidence, and so on. Yes, this is somewhat tongue in cheek, but not entirely. 21. Gear - An alti is something you can buy at any time. There are DZs that include one as part of the AFF package, along with a logbook and a pair of goggles. A proper suit will help with your fall rate issues. Looser fit, slower fabrics, big booties, all those can help. Much of that depends on how fast you actually fall. The suit makers are the ones to ask about this. I'm partial to Tony myself (but I freely admit that it's a personal preference - there are a number of reputable suit makers out there). You might ask around your DZ and see which suits are most popular. Get in touch with the maker, give them some usable data to work with (borrow a Pro Track or similar for a few jumps) and they should be able to set you up. Helping out/fitting in - Ask. Seriously. There is almost always a ton of work that needs to be done. Not the glamorous stuff, but sweeping up, dumping trash, that sort of stuff. Ask the DZO or manager or whoever is in charge (you don't say where you jump, and the bigger places usually have a handle on this sort of stuff). 22. Well, at least "Big Skittle" (Wrigley's actually) understands that candy and people are different. Apparently Trump Jr doesn't understand that. Nor does he realize that the comparison meme originally came from White Supremacists (supposedly). "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 23. But if they stop airing every "important policy announcement" live in prime time they will be accused of being Clinton's Super PAC. Maybe if they say "He claimed it was an 'important policy announcement', but it was just a bunch of hot air and bullshit, like usual" it would make a point. I doubt it would affect his poll numbers, but at least the "major media" could start calling him out on his shenanigans. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  24. The press lost the moral high ground a while back. They (all of them) have been giving Trump a free pass, while grilling Clinton like cops in a bad 50s movie. The interviews with Matt Lauer are a prime example of this. Trump's bankruptcies, hiring of illegal immigrants, tax evasion (property tax), mob ties (both US & Russian), and on and on. The list is extensive. Yet completely ignored by the mainstream media. And this is leaving alone all of his campaign behaviors. Calls for violence against protesters, bigotry, xenophobia, sexism. Again, the list is lengthy yet remains largely ignored. Trump was right in his old interview (People?). He's simply telling the "non-elite" republicans exactly what they want to hear. Largely scapegoating immigrants (Mexican & Muslim), bullying his opponents, proposing impossible, yet appealing "solutions". And his numbers go through the roof. 25. It's kind of funny (not really, but you know what I mean). With the exception of McVeigh, none of the above were called "terrorists." Even though the "mass shooters" (Lanza, Holmes, Purdy - I forgot Cho, the VA Tech shooter) did more to "terrorize" the country than a lot of the so-called "terrorists". Look at the reaction - bans of certain types of weapons (with outcry for more that didn't go through), calls for metal detectors in movie theaters, increased security at schools, and on and on.
