  1. Yeah, there were a couple other things in the original bill that got taken out. One is something Elmo really wanted gone: The other is a huge win for United Healthcare. You know, the company whose CEO was killed a couple weeks ago. Trump is just a puppet for the people who paid for his win. And it hasn't even really started yet. 2. It's just math. Any competent electrician can give you an estimate for an install. Costs can vary widely. Depends on what space you have in your box, if your current service has enough capacity, where your box is and where the car will charge. Costs for the EVSE (charger cord) also vary. Decent ones are a few hundred. For the actual 'juice' costs, figure out how much you're going to drive it. How far do you commute to work? How many days per week? How often to you run to the store(s)? How far? Easiest way is to track the mileage you're driving your current car. How many miles per month? Then find out how much power the car you're interested in uses. For example, my Bolt is rated to deliver 3.9 miles per kilowatt/hour (kWh). So if I drive 39 miles, I should use 10 kWh. Just like in an ICE vehicle, your mileage will vary. But it's a good place to start. Look at your electrical bill, see how much you're paying for electricity. National average is around $0.16/kWh. But it varies a LOT. Plus some places offer 'off peak' discounts. That means you set a timer (built into the car) so it charges in the middle of the night when demand is lowest. Figure out miles driven, juice used and the cost for that juice. Myself, I usually drive between 500 and 600 miles per month. Because it's so cheap to operate, I found myself driving the Bolt more than I expected. It's cheaper to drive that than my motorcycle (~45mpg). My electrical bill went up $35-$40 per month. I have pretty cheap juice, I pay around $0.11 (eleven cents) per kWh. WAAAAAAAY less than I was paying for gas, even in the summer when I would ride the motorcycle as much as practical.
  3. I don't find it 'funny' that people are gullible enough to believe this kind of bullshit. But there sure are a lot of them, enough in fact, to elect Trumpty Dumpty to a second term.
  4. While you can buy older cars (1974 and earlier) that were meant to use leaded gas, the sale of it for use in an on road car was prohibited in 1996. Doesn't mean you can't find it (avgas), and you certainly aren't going to get caught. But it's expensive and not easy to find. (yes, you can get 100LL avgas at any airport, but they won't put it in your car and I somewhat doubt they'd be willing to fill a bunch of 5 gal gas cans)
  5. Well, to be fair, the US didn't get 'run out'. Trumpty Dumpty surrendered and ran away.
  6. Standard projection behavior. Because some people think the way THEY do stuff is the ONLY way it should be done, and they spend so much of their time shoving their beliefs and behaviors down everyone else's throats, they think that when someone else says "Hey! This is what I do and it works well for me!" that that person is insisting that everyone else do that. Also standard projection behavior: Accusing everyone else of doing what they secretly do or want to do.
  7. His own communications director said that if he (Trumpty Dumpty) hadn't won the election, he likely would have spent the rest of his life in prison. OTOH, Roger Stone committed almost the exact same tax crimes. HE was pardoned, under the excuse that 'he just made some accounting mistakes'.
  8. His only actual convictions were the New York state charges. The indictments in Georgia were also state charges. The "election interference" (insurrection attempt) in DC and the Classified Document charges in Florida were federal charges.
  9. Anybody else remember when Reagan was governor of California? When the Black Panthers started openly carrying firearms, all the "important people" (white people) lost their shit. They put in some of the most restrictive gun control laws in the country in place. Twenty or thirty years later, all the gun rights activists started calling it "The People's Republic of Kalifornia" because of the restrictive laws, ignoring the basic fact that those laws were put in place by conservatives.
  10. Everyone seems to forget that 'one side' was composed ENTIRELY of KKK & Nazis. Some are implying that there were 'non-Nazis' and 'non-KKK' among the "Unite the Right" marchers. That some were 'simply protesting the removal of the Confederate statues'. Sure. Right. Uh-huh. It was a White Supremacy event. It was organized and held by the Nazis & KKK. To pretend that there were 'very fine people' among them is ludicrous.
  11. It was. I was just trying to clarify my position on it. It may well be that the 'brush with death' survivor needs a good talking to, some remedial training and perhaps some time off to contemplate what he did wrong. It may be that he wound up in a situation that 'just happened' and he was lucky & determined & skilled enough to escape. And, as was pointed out, much of this would be determined by the survivors attitude & opinion of it. Personally, anytime I've come close to becoming a statistic (never that close, but there have been a couple), I would sit down, go over what happened, ask myself what I could or should have done differently and how to avoid it in the future. A couple times I grabbed the S&T A and went over it with him, asking for his input. I've known jumpers who just 'laughed it off', ignored what they did and kept on keeping on. Those folks usually ended up going upwards on my 'bounce bingo' list. I've also known a couple that came to the realization that they could actually die doing this. They knew it intellectually, but hadn't fully internalized that reality. And they quit. Personally (again), if it was me in the situation, I would accept a sticker reading 'Enjoying the Bonus Days' with good humor. I don't know it I would put it on my helmet or not, that's something I'd have to think about. But as a 'congratulations for surviving something really close', I would appreciate it. But not everyone would.
  12. "The defendant's social calendar does not constitute due cause". Also, "shut the hell up and let your lawyer do the talking" (not a direct quote, but that's what he meant).
  13. And his gullible supporters will believe it, repeat it, and before long it will be 'gospel'.
  14. His own communications director said that he likely would have spent the rest of his life in prison had he not won the election. Which is kind of a shame because that treasonous piece of shit BELONGS behind bars for the rest of his life. Look at how other, 'ordinary' people are treated when they steal classified documents. Arrested. Jailed. No bail. https://www.npr.org/2024/11/12/nx-s1-5188606/jack-teixeira-sentenced-military-documents-leak Arrested April of 23. Guilty plea March of 24. Sentenced 2 weeks ago. One year 7 months from arrest to sentencing. 15 years in prison.
  15. It IS a very old phrase. I'm old and have been around 'for a while', but not that long. We simply don't know what happened. He didn't say anything other than a double mal and reserve fully open around 50 feet. No info what or how or anything. I agree that sharing that info to try to prevent future repeats, or to simply amplify the 'never, never, never, NEVER give up' mantra, would be a good idea, but that's a different discussion. He wanted to know if there was a phrase to describe surviving something like this. One of the things I've always loved about jumping and the people I've jumped with is the amazing, yet unconventional accuracy in the way some things are phrased. If the OP wishes to share more info, I'd be willing to share my opinions and thoughts, but that's not what he asked for.
  16. The 'larger electorate' is a bunch of fucking idiots.
  17. Hard left? Ha. At least I'm not a Nazi. One more time. I heard him say the words live on TV. I understood the context. The "Protestors" were Nazis & KKK. Or their sympathizers. There WERE NOT ANY 'protestors' who weren't. There were TWO SIDES. Nazi & KKK. Antifa protestors.
  18. Hi Jerry, Of course he will. Just like he had them look into the 'illegal immigrants voting' in the 2016 election to prove he didn't lose the popular vote.
  19. He makes it up. Or parrots crap other people made up. Fun fact: A whole bunch of people are denying that Trumpty Dumpty said, in the wake of Heather Heyer's murder, that there were 'very fine people on both sides'. It's bullshit. I heard him say it live. One of those sides was the Nazis & KKK.
  20. Because he thinks it's a clever thing to say, completely ignoring the reality of how many times he's said something that legitimately gets that response.
  21. "Bonus Days". Seeing as he should, by all reasonable measure, be dead, any day going forward is a 'bonus day' here on earth for him. Your sticker could read something like: "Enjoying my bonus days."
  22. He doesn't want an actual 'discussion'. That would involve defining and defending his position. He can't do that. He just wants to rant and rave and spew his vitriol.
  23. Because he's above the law, like the rest of them. His buddy, Joel Greenburg is serving eleven years.
  24. And he nominated TWO sexual predators for his cabinet. Because it fits his narrative. "I have squandered my resistance For a pocketful of mumbles Such are promises All lies and jest Still a man hears what he wants to hear And disregards the rest" - Paul Simon
  25. Because he would be vulnerable to local & state prosecution. Stuff that Trumpty Dumpty can't protect him from.
