That would be easy and definitely different. I love hybrids and so far I've only been part of the base ... Take pictures/video and share with us :) O

Reserve malfunctions – how common are they?
OlympiaStoica replied to OlympiaStoica's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I fly a moderately loaded (1:1) 7-cell and I don't see myself going "high performance" any time soon, if ever. Now that I'm not so ignorant to take my reserve for granted, I will most likely take a little time to try clearing my main malfunction, if possible. What are the type of malfunctions that can be cleared, other than the obvious brake fire and line twists? O -
Damn near every level I and II aff I do. Alright ... that's appropriate

Scratching head ... how is deployment without separation "the appropriate thing to do"? Ever? O

I wanted something really "special" for my 100th, but with a space shuttle launch jump for my 98th and and awesome freefly "pornstar" for my 99th, making that happen wasn't easy. I ended up doing a fairly easy 2-way, dressed in schoolgirl uniform, with Tony Hathaway taking pictures (see attached). Do something that is "special" to you. O

Computer geeks, what could be the problem?

If you have a pop up blocker, disable it temporarely to eliminate it as a possibility for your issue. O -
"Skydiver's Brush with Death"

Opting for spiraling yourself into the ground instead of cutaway; I'd like to ask him: "why???" O -
"Skydiver's Brush with Death"
OlympiaStoica replied to kkeenan's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I was looking to see something about this in the "Incidents" forum as well -- nothings so far. I noticed the 45 jumps = "seasoned skydiver", but have learned that media reports are littered with misrepresentations when it comes to skydiving incidents. Those articles are written by whoffos after all, and they don't bother checking with someone in the sport before putting something in print. O -
I got one ... two months and two re-do later it still doesn't fit well. I will cut my losses and order a new one, probably from Liquid Sky. O

Reserve malfunctions – how common are they?
OlympiaStoica replied to OlympiaStoica's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Early on I used to think … “it’s OK if my main doesn’t open – I have a reserve, packed by a highly qualified rigger – I’m all set”. In retrospective, that was my way of lying to myself to calm the nerves of a newbie. I’m still a newbie (I’ve been in the sport 10 months), but I’ve learned enough to know that one can’t take the reserve for granted. I’ve read the statistics, but how common double malfunctions really are? Frankly, the knowledge that the reserve might not open, may cause me to “waste” a few extra seconds at cutaway time, trying to clear a main malfunction, given it’s something that can be cleared. O -
Thoughts before "going in"
OlympiaStoica replied to dj_smokie's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
This whole thread makes for an interesting read. I have nothing humorous and insightful to add. I just hope that if I find myself in that possition, I won't spend the last 10 - 15 seconds of my life being scared ... I wish for the calm those with close calls speak of ... O -
When was your skydiving epiphany?
OlympiaStoica replied to npgraphicdesign's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Jump #1 ... it was love at first jump (tandem) for me. I was planing to go jump, check it off my list and move on, but once I stepped out of that airplane (well, more like being pushed out by my tandem master while I was kicking and screaming) I knew I've stumbled upon something life changing. I landed ... but never really landed for about ... 3 days. Experienced jumpers at the DZ took a look at me and said to each other "look at her ... she got bitten by the bug ... she'll be back". They were right ... few days later I was in first jump course. O -
Is jumping without a parachute safe?
OlympiaStoica replied to Ripley10001's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Umm ... no, it isn't!!! Skydiving is dangerous enough - for an added jolt of adrenaline, go BASE jumping (with the rig ON). O -
I didn't see it and would love to - I'll look for it. O

...first balloon jump!!!...
OlympiaStoica replied to IEJuggalo's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Jump seventy-something was my first balloon jump. I was scared out of my mind, but went ahead with it anyway. As we were loading up I texted the individual who did my first jump course and encouraged me through my AFF to let him know what I'm doing it. His answer was "it will forever be your favorite" ... he was right! It was completely different than jumping out of an airplane. I was most nervous on the ride up, until we reached 2,500 feet or so ... I was most concerned about having enough altitude to bail and deploy in case something happens to that big piece of cloth over our heads. We exited at 6,500feet ... plenty of altitude to get some decent freefall time. You are going to love it!!! O -

What LisaH said -
This is a Blackberry to Blackberry message (using the PIN-to-PIN feature); two possibilities: - someone that knows you and your PIN sent you his contact; or (most likely) ... - spam ... someone sending the contact to random PINs; if that's the case, delete it ... O
