Best Route Driving CO to DC at end of December?
LuckyMcSwervy replied to Muffie's topic in The Bonfire
No. I'll tell you why I asked. The couple in the stateroom next to be on a cruise are truck drivers. The woman said when she has to "piss" she "whips out the coffee can and the ziploc bag" and just "pisses and zips". She said she put the bag into the coffee can, "lowers the air ride seat" and will pee into the ziploc bag sturdied by being in the coffee can. She never mentioned wiping. I thought for sure there would be at least a little camper kind of toilet in the big cab part of the trucks. Always be kinder than you feel. -

Would you ever consider having children with a friend?
LuckyMcSwervy replied to npgraphicdesign's topic in The Bonfire
NO. 1) I agree with Lucky's first post. 2) As a parent, I can't imagine doing this with a friend. Alone, maybe (probably not, but maybe), but a non committed friendly relationship, no way. Like others have said, parenting is hard work. I couldn't handle baby mama/daddy drama on top of that. If you do go into this with a friend, make sure that you cover ALL the bases. Who will have primary custody, what will the day-to-day look like, daycare options, what happens if someone wants to move away, vacations, parenting style and philosophies, spanking, vaccination, circumcision, family medical history, religion, sex education, even the freaking carseat can be a big deal. I know couples who have divorced over an inability to see eye-to-eye on parenting topics, and I knew people who won't compromise on some issues. Some of it you can figure out as you go along, but be prepared to have heated discussions without the make-up sex, if you go that way. Plus, TAXES. Who gets the deduction?? Thanks for all the additional replies! Yep. I have some flexibility so could take longer if I run into bad weather. And currently thinking I'll do it in five hours stretches per day because of the pup. She's good in the car, but the most we've done is a couple hours. So, worst case scenario I'll just have some longer driving days towards the end to make up lost time. Safe travels. Always be kinder than you feel. -

The PA Turnpike SUCKS. I spent many years traveling between Atlantic City out to Ebensburg to visit my in-laws. In the winter with snow/ice/rain... just sucks. Almost bought the farm one year on Christmas Eve when skidding on ice. ETA: I looked at Amtrak recently to see about taking the PHL-MIA route to I wouldn't have to drive. It took something like 28 hours and was insanely expensive compared to air travel. I think it was $1200 round trip to get a little bedroom with a marine looking toilet and shower. No thanks..... If it's not a first date, what date number is it? Were the dates close together or every week or couple of weeks apart? Did they talk on the phone between these dates or Skype? Did they know each other before they dated? Always be kinder than you feel.

Best Route Driving CO to DC at end of December?

Yup, near rest areas, lined up on the shoulder, mostly very late at night. Many closed rest areas on I-95 as you mentioned. I can't imagine doing your job. I had an 18 wheeler blow a tire next to me on 95 about a month or so ago. Scared the hell out of me!! Always be kinder than you feel. -

Reminds me I need to change my text ringtone back to something that makes me laugh. What is it now? the the Michael Meyers Theme Song? For Brandon's texts it was a funny little quote from The Hangover. For regular phone calls it's 5150 by Dierks Bentley. For general text messages it's Springsteen by Eric Church. Off the wall questions here but why do the 18 wheelers line up along side of a road when there's a rest area? I mean like 20 trucks long. i saw this quite a few times on I-95 south. Always be kinder than you feel. -
