The Washington Post no longer has editorial independence, but must now toe the billionaire (Bezos) line. I find it hard to remain optimistic.

Republicans have been crying "wolf" about this since Reagan's time, but the ground has yet to materialize. “What's past is prologue"; Shakespeare (The Tempest)

Better than bankrupting casinos and screwing investors.

So we have our first measles death of this outbreak. What will RFK Jr. say or do? https://apnews.com/article/measles-outbreak-west-texas-death-rfk-41adc66641e4a56ce2b2677480031ab9

The Fed has been around for 111 years, during which time the USA has had a continuous debt. The sky hasn't fallen.
-
Wikipedia has a fairly detailed but comrehensive explanation. Most of the debt is owed to Americans themseves by way of pension funds and other investments. And a lot is owed to other parts of the government, such as Social Security and Medicare. The top three foreign holders of US debt are Japan, China, and the UK.

Except for 1835 and 1836 the USA has had continuous federal debt since it borrowed from France to pay for the revolutionary war. The sky hasn't fallen.

What do facts have to do with anything if you're MAGA?

This quote from John Bolton gets it: “He can’t tell the difference between his own personal interest and the national interest, if he even understands what the national interest is.” (John Bolton served as national security adviser in Trump’s first term). Trump recognizes no distinction between what is public and private, legal and illegal, formal and informal, national and personal.

A Magic 8-Ball would be preferable to Trump. At least it isn't a vindictive bully.

The USA under Trump has shown itself to be an unreliable ally. No wonder Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, etc. are worried.

But plenty of jobs will be available picking fruit and vegetables, mowing lawns, roofing. . . . . . once all the migrants have gone back to their shithole countries.

It's not your regular cruise. Thoroughly recommend.

So did we. National Geographic Explorer. Didn't see you there.

In my lifetime which is now quite long, GOP administrations have added more to the debt than Dem ones. That included Reagan (tripled the debt) and Trump 1, both of whom railed against deficits. If you think Trump 2 will do anything different, I have a nice bridge for sale.

Seriously reminiscent of the America Firsters of the 1930s

Was hospitalized for a bit (nothing major, just annoying), followed by a month sailing the South Pacific (Fiji to Tahiti with stops in between).

Trump is a con-man. His record as a con-man is long and public. They knew he lied all the way through his first term. Yet they voted for him anyway. Well, they got the result they voted for, just not the one they expected.
