  2. just be aware of your arms in flips you don't need to throw them to hard. My shoulders were so bad they would come out in my sleep and I've had no problems skydiving so far. As far as steering with one arm my plan is to get one toggle in my mouth and the other in my freehand that way I can fly at half brakes and flat turn then once I was lined up I would get both toggles in my good hand for a flare. It's the best I've come up with "....and then the canopy opens and you float down to the ground like a multicolored snowflake" JG Rat# 27
  3. Since I was in the same situation minus the skydiving. I'll give you my perspective first I would suggest the gym start with real light barbell shoulder exercises 3-4 days a week. I suggest this because I really didn't like the awnser to the question what happens if I throw my shoulder out after the surgery. Neither of my shoulders has come out in 8 years although they do occasionaly pop or creak. Now of course no two people are the same and I don't know your medical history but I would definitly look at physical rehab first maybe take a month or two of from skydiving while you do it if that doesn't work then look at surgical options. Other then that I go over procedures just in case a shoulder decides to pop out. As long as both don't come out I'm fairly confident I could land with one arm if I couldn't reduce it in freefall or under canopy. Good luck "....and then the canopy opens and you float down to the ground like a multicolored snowflake" JG Rat# 27
  4. I'm doing research on what kind of Camera I want to buy and I'm trying to figure out the difference between the PC series vs the TRV series. I'm looking at a PC 110 or the new 101 models or the TRV 30 model (I think the TRV 50 is replacing the 30). Is there a difference in quality or features that I'm missing? I Notice that most of the guys that shoot tandems and 4 way use a TRV style Camera is there a reason for this? I'm thinking I want to get a top mount because that way I can shoot everything (I'm not really sure what I'll be doing right now but it's a good bet I'll wanna shoot tandem). Any input would be greatly appreciated "....and then the canopy opens and you float down to the ground like a multicolored snowflake" JG Rat# 27

  9. he was s folding the excess and sticking it in the top of the riser, not bringing the excess thru the riser and around the top of the toggle before inserting in the keeper. "....and then the canopy opens and you float down to the ground like a multicolored snowflake" JG Rat# 27

Just go back to hanging out with your bellyfly friends and leave the Free Flying to us HAHAHAHAHA PS Jeff I'll tell you what I'll exit totally stable in a sit this weekend and get it on video then you do the full flail exit into a stable sit PSS I have plans for that exit I'm gonna shine it up and it will be completly different next year it's gonna rock "....and then the canopy opens and you float down to the ground like a multicolored snowflake" JG Rat# 27
  14. DZ.com standard awnser is talk to your instructors and people you jump with and see what size main and reserve you want then start looking for gear in that size. My awnser (keep in mind I'm a low# jumper) your lookin at between 150-190 main and reserve depending on your skill and comfort level. I know thats not exact but without seeing you fly it's really next to impossible to tell you what exact size canopy you need "....and then the canopy opens and you float down to the ground like a multicolored snowflake" JG Rat# 27
  15. come on fellas flail is such a harsh word...........lets just say I get a little unstable sometimes "....and then the canopy opens and you float down to the ground like a multicolored snowflake" JG Rat# 27

  17. Jinx.....yea it was great. could have done without some of the wind Saturday though. All I can say is be there next year it'll probably be better then this year if thats possible. I know I'll have more fun next year cause then I should be good enough to really compete.......Kims boyfriend=Paul and they do rock don't they. PS when your done editing can I get a dub from ya? 18. The Gravity Rats had their first annual Freefly Revolution at Skydive San Marcos this past weekend and it was a riot. Got to meet some really cool and talented freeflyers and I even managed to take first place in begginers solo expression. I'm still trying to figure out how that happened since I was the least expirienced flyer there. I got Robert to shot my video we jump and it rocks I'm through with all my transitions half way through the dive so we play the rest of the dive. We get down and check out the video and theres a shot of me going in the plane and then a shot of Robert collapsing his slider....oops someone turned their camera on then off before exit it was too funny ( always remember to check for that red light.....HAHA!!!). The redo went great except I fixated on Robert who was backtracking to video my opening so I pulled a tad low which put robert a little low so he landed out, but it's one of the funnest jumps I've had to date. The Party was great and the band was excellent (packer Tim you rock) I'm not sure if they got the Texas record for bigway on Sunday but it was close and the video of it was the shit. Robert and Brian thanks for all the hard work it was great and I can't wait for next year "....and then the canopy opens and you float down to the ground like a multicolored snowflake" JG Rat# 27
  19. Very cool. now a suggestion no more solos until you start sitting. Do 2 and 3 ways with expirienced jumpers (500+), even if you have to sit and wait for a few loads. First it will help distract you on the ride up. Second and most important it will help your skills. One of my instructors told me don't waste your money and jump by yourself and don't jump with 100 jump wonders that want to swoop on you it's a waste of a jump ticket. You are not any diffrent then the people on the four way teams except they've been jumping longer then you. They really do want to jump with you and impart knowledge but it's hard when they are trying to improve their skills too. Next time out find one of your favorite jumpers ask them if they'll do a 2 way with ya, and if you have to wait a few loads so be it. As to the fear, one of the best jumpers at my DZ told me he still gets nervous before jumping. I had a hard time internally till around 50 and I'm still nervous at 134 so don't sweat it once your in the air it's all good and you know this. 20. If they do a good job tip em!!!!! "....and then the canopy opens and you float down to the ground like a multicolored snowflake" JG Rat# 27
  21. I'm trying to visualize how this happened and can't really picture it. Could you elaborate on why stowing the excess thru the risers caused this. The main reason for my question is thats how I stow my excess line. I bring the loop of excess thru the riser and around the toggle before I insert it in the top toggle keeper. then I check to make sure the brake line is clear of all the excess. "....and then the canopy opens and you float down to the ground like a multicolored snowflake" JG Rat# 27
  22. My suggestion (keep in mind I'm a newbie) (1) broomstick, (1) expierenced belly jumper/instructor, (15) minutes of your time, (1) creeper/picnic table. Lie down on creeper place brromstick across the back of the lower neck and shoulders and under each wrist. Arch and have the instructor look over your body position and make adjustments hold the arch for a minute then rest. Repeat at least five times. this helps get the correct body position into muscle memory without the stress of freefall......hope that helps JG
  23. got this from WFFC site Ok, Everyone...Here's the latest regarding me and the 412. Due to all the pleading from all of my fellow skydivers and your unyielding support, I have entered into negotiations with WFFC and have submitted a proposal. If they agree, I will come back from retirement to try this ONE MORE TIME, just for YOU! Now, here's the hard part. It'll be your decision whether or not this will continue. We'll need 3500 jump tickets to break even. That will match our best year. It is possible, but without you, it won't happen. I am not getting any guarantees from the convention so I'll need your support. If we don't break even this year, there won't be any discussions for another try. It's just too big of a loss to sustain every year. I'd much rather come and throw the biggest dog pound party of the century and skydive all week with you. We lost $47,000 last year, and with 9/11 right on the heels, it almost buried us. We're still recovering from the loss of business, and it will be a big risk. My upper management thinks I've lost my mind, but I'm betting on you. For those of you that support the 412, there will be frequent jumper bonus jumps, as well as for the top ten skydivers buying the most pre-registration helicopter jump tickets, I'll give one 10K+ "0" airspeed jump! It's in the Conventions hands now. I've gone over the numbers with them, and they'll make the call. After that, it's up to you. Some think this is "mission impossible", but we all know skydivers are used to that, so should you decide to accept this mission.......... I'm bringing my rig, but I hope I won't have time to jump it! Your Favorite Helicopter Pilot, Rod Tinney, CEO Air Center Helicopters, Inc. RTINNEY@ACHI-TX.com JG
  24. Ok I left out some info I'm currently jumping a Spectre 170. The mistake was on someone elses canopy. I made the mistake of looking at it (I'm such a sucker for 'shiny things' especially if they happen to match my gear exactly) until that point I was content with the thought of a 150. Let me also add that I appreciate you people giving me a reality check. PS the thought of the argument this would have been if I was in my 20's is cracking me up JG
  25. Lisa that was kind of my point if I can land it with in 5-10 meters of my target downwind 3 times in a row, should I consider getting it. I want to know that I can land it downwind and be close to target IF I'm gonna take a step like that JG
