  1. A writ of certiorari isn't a decision on the merits of a case. It does not indicate agreement or disagreement with lower courts. It has no value as a precedent. It only means that one party or the other wasn't satisfied with the outcome, the question was federal in nature, and the issue is significant. Obviously, any issue related to the Obama is going to be considered "significant" since he is the president elect. People really get their undies in a bunch over what amounts to little more than a technicality.
  2. In-and-Out is impossible and and oxymoron.... the only way it can happen is Out-then-In-and-then-possibly-Out .... Nothing can be approached from the inside... you have to be outside and there are not guarantees of getting out once you made it inside! My $1.00 - $0.98 What if the "In" and the "Out" are not actually referring to the location of origin, but where one is headed? "Going IN!" would have to come before "Going OUT!" in that case. If you can't tell, I'm really bored.

  4. I worked at Tower Records when I was younger and I don't know how many times we had to kick people out of the store for doing just that by the dirty magazines and videos....
  5. I want a Fisher & Paykel. I hate my dishwasher.
  6. Less smartypants talk. More pictures.
  7. I always thought my family had early dinner on Thanksgiving so they didn't miss too much football.
  8. El Famous Burrito. I don't know why, but I have an unnatural obsession with the place.
  9. Ok...I deleted the post about the AK guy because I don't want to give someone a bad name if it isn't them. Anyway, the Reece you're looking for uses ebay. I checked it against his profile info here under Monoverde. http://myworld.ebay.com/rbaldwin2570/ That's his ebay profile. Maybe you could use that somehow.
  10. Just a guess since the phone number listed above was an Alaska number and he would be about the right age....and the only other Reece Baldwin's I found were teenagers in the UK and Australia. So, I guess it could be wrong but there wouldn't be any harm in looking him up.

  14. Thanks to everyone! This helps a ton. I know WHAT things do, I just (luckily!) haven't had any issues yet, so it's nice to know what more experienced people find to be most useful!
  15. Worst: Subway Best: Augustino's

  20. I actually have a shirt that says, "Talk nerdy to me."
  21. Ok, here's the deal. I'm taking a communications class and my teacher wanted to know something about us that nobody would guess, whether it is a hobby, deformity...anything. I said I like jumping from planes. I didn't realize that whatever we said would have to be turned into a damn speech. Since I couldn't think of an angle to take it, she suggested I explain various safety features that have come about in the recent times (she didn't specify 5 yrs or 20, so I can probably stretch that out a bit to accommodate whatever I want). I figure the best place to start would be by asking here since so many people here have sooo much more knowledge than I do. What would all of you consider to be the most important/innovative/just plain cool safety features on gear?
  22. Why do kamikazes wear helmets?
  23. English is hard. I took Japanese in college and they don't have all the crazy rules we have. I couldn't even imagine trying to teach English to Japanese kids because there are so many differences just in sentence structure alone, not to mention definitions of words, and all of the lovely grammatical rules that we have that make no real sense.
