Reading things here actually tends to make me feel more comfortable because it makes me see that most deaths are avoidable. Obviously, there are going to be some crazy exceptions where there are unexplainable and unavoidable malfunctions that lead to death or serious injury. The things I have read here have only made me considerably more conscious of safety than I might have been otherwise. Instead of simply assuming that my safety is in the hands of the gear I'm using, it has made me realize that my safety is in my hands. I'm also quite new to the sport though. I hope as I become more experienced, I don't get too "comfortable" and start relying on my equipment (as opposed to checking everything out for myself) more than I should.

Ok...so, I'm home now and the clouds broke up. I'm contemplating going back, but my daughter is napping. I'm guessing by the time she wakes up, it'll be cloudy again. That's my luck!

Well, I was going to get in some of my AFF jumps today and it was too cloudy. I'm really grouchy now!

I'm 30 and wear mini skirts...People tend to think I'm in my early 20s most of the time though.

Haha...a friend of mine keeps trying to get me to play, but I absolutely refuse because I know that I will end up hooked!

Well, I just found out that I'm going to be getting some extra money, so I might be able to finish before the season is over after all. Hooray!

That has happened to me a lot lately....I thought it was just me! I'll try to make a call and it just disconnects right away. Then when I look, I'll have no bars when I had em just a minute before!

French fries and chocolate shake (preferably a Wendy's frosty!) When I was pregnant, I used to wrap mini-gherkins in salami spread with cream cheese.

There was some guy on "The First 48" the other day who was killed and they found a bunch of steaks all around him. Apparently, he was a door-to-door meat selling guy. They're all sketchy!

Cops took 2 full books of CDs from my car when I was a teenager. I was standing there while they searched it, saw them take the books, asked WHY they were taking the books (no response), asked if they could give them back (no response), and was arrested for zero tolerance (they said I smelled like booze even though I was just on my way home from work and didn't drink at all). They didn't give me any sobriety tests or anything and when I blew at the station, it showed that I hadn't been drinking at all. I didn't even get an apology...or my CDs back...and they had already had my car impounded. I hate cops.

I have 2 degrees. My husband has 0. He makes considerably more than I was making or could hope to make. Education, while it does often help get more lucrative work, doesn't always equate to higher pay or a better life. Also, just because one person thinks that living in a camper to "live the dream" or whatever is a waste of a life, not all people would agree. A friend of mine had a decent job (nothing spectacular, but it paid the bills) and quit to make music. He scrapes by now, but I've never seen him so happy in the 10 years or so that I've known him. I know that I'd rather be happy and living in a tent than rich and bored, depressed, miserable, or anything else you could throw in here.

If I didn't have a toddler, I'd probably consider it! I don't do well in the cold.

I don't have a ton of money to go jump as much as I would like, and don't think I will be able to finish AFF by the end of the season. I guess I have to go at least once every 30 days to not have to start over. How does that work if the season ends before I can afford to finish? Is there some kind of refresher or something? or am I destined to have to start over?

There is a writer named Richard Lederer who has a few books about this topic! "Anguished English: An Anthology of Accidental Assaults on the English Language," and "Sleeping Dogs Don't Lay: Practical Advice for the Grammatically Challenged" are just two of them. They're pretty entertaining. Unfortunately, I think the problem rests more in the laziness of people than in ignorance (though I'm sure that plays a part as well). I've had people dislike me because they thought I was a snob. It hasn't happened often, but on two occasions people have told others that I try to talk above them. I've never tried to do that. I just speak properly and it has pissed off a few people for some reason or another. -
I turned 30 2 Mondays ago and my parents paid for AFF 1. That's better than cash even though that's what I'd have spent cash on. It's nice that they support it considering that I've talked to more than a few people who have families that think they're insane for wanting to jump out of planes.
