  1. Smells like bullshit. Lets see what a little checking reveals... Yep. It's bullshit. The HPV vaccine Gardasil was approved in june 2006 (and CDC recommends its use), Perry added it to the required vacination list in february 2007
  2. Well that's what the bible says in leviticus 18, and the overwhelming majority of her supporters believe the bible is the inerrant word of God. So this one's pretty much out of her hands.
  3. For starters Medicare, unless you are in the very small percentage of Americans with health care guaranteed in retirement. why would you not want guaranteed healthcare when you are retired? like the rest of the modern world enjoys. Can you imagine this country without medicare or SS today? You state you make less than 100 grand a year, where you fall in between 0 and 100,000 is the difference. I have never said Democrats are perfect, but they are the party that best represent my world view. When the Republican top presidential candidates believe the earth is 6000 years old, for me, it's an issue.
  4. OK cool I see what you mean, verly logical. That theory works accept for one problem; the facts. Was your life better under Clinton or Bush? does anyone remember the approval rating for Bush in his last months, the lowest ever of any US president.
  5. Yes, I did read your article, I would think you could do better than an article over 3 years old, but what the hell. There is no doubt that Putin and the Russian federation are a crazy bunch. They are however not the Soviet union, The Soviet union was dissolved in 1991. If Bachmann can't tell the difference between the Russian federation and the USSR, that's a problem. I agree with most on your list of Democrats you thought are stupid, I am not so partisan as to think my side is perfect. Why you would choose to defend the likes of Bachmann are baffling when you have someone like Huntsman or Paul on your side. I will continue posting the stupid things Bachmann will continue to spout during her campaign, you can't put a price on entertainment like this.
  6. One of the best questions ever posed here. I think poor Republicans are mostly Republicans for their religious views. Some have been led to believe that when they finally become wealthy, The liberals will take it all away from them. When (if) the Republicans try to do away with MC and SS, you will see a huge exodus from the republicans, the fact is, more Republicans than Democrats will need those programs when (if) they retire.
  7. The earth being only 10,000 years old is not a point of view, to argue with someone that it is billions of years older is just absurd. You may as well argue current events with Charles Manson. Stating the earth is 10,000 years old is a statement of a personal superstitious belief. I believe that a persons superstitious beliefs have no place in a politics, I wanna know about their views on reality. The fact of the matter is, most Democrats are smarter than Republicans on lots of things. http://www.gallup.com/poll/108226/republicans-democrats-differ-creationism.aspx
  8. Where did you look it up? Who controlled the website? What was their agenda? How did they back up their claims? You have already demonstrated that there are flat out lies circulating on the subject because you repeated one of them. What fact checking have you done on this claim? Read this article about the sheer scale of the falsehoods contained in one frontpage article from a UK paper about an HPV vaccine and its side effects (as an incentive, it does contain valid criticism of the marketing of the Merck vaccine). Ask yourself how critical you've been about the reliability of the information you've been given about Gardasil. I did nothing more than search 'side-effects of gardisil' and clicked on the first one listed then, went back and scrolled down and selected another source. Trying to be 'random' in my selections. I'm not selecting just those sources that 'bad-mouth' the product as you tend to accuse me of. This only proves that you can find anything you want on the internet that supports your (not necessarily you) opinion or whatever. It just so happens that what I found was in complete contrast to what you found and you're getting accusatory because the information didn't agree. Who's to say that your information is reliable? Make sense? Chuck You could probably find a million side effects for small pox and polio vaccines online too. I think the CDC has been very consistent in providing vaccine data. http://www.cdc.gov/vaccinesafety/vaccines/hpv/gardasil.html Look what happened when people followed the advice online of not having their children vaccinated due to the concern of autism; dead children.
  9. Fine, if you want to play that game, she said "Americans fear the rise of the Soviet Union" with Americans being plural. Therefore we only need to find 2 Americans who fear the rise of the Soviet Union to make her statement correct. If we continue to play yours and others in this threads, stupid game, the Americans could be Canadians or anyone from South America. Only 2 american's needed ? talk about reaching. So if I say Americans fear the earth is flat, and can provide you a couple Americans who think the earth is flat, my statement makes sense? And it's true, there are a lot of dumbshit Dems, we just don't run them for President.
  10. *** For late term abortions, it should only be to protect the health of the mother, For all other abortions, i'm as liberal as they come.
  11. I don't think anyone can be required by the Government to vaccinate their kids, I know the state of California "requires" the whooping cough vaccine be given to all public school students this year, but in reality, if it is against the parents "beliefs" they can opt out.
  12. I'm flabbergasted that Perry supported this vaccine, most conservatives went ape shit thinking this would turn 11 year old girls into sluts. I could never figure out who would think reducing the risk of cancer for their child is a bad thing. Except it's not 'most conservatives' is it? Its the relatively small but unbelievably vocal religious fringe* that republican strategists have become obsessed with pandering to, resulting in the current grotesque line-up of cartoon candidates who are now going to spend the next however many months wandering around the country extolling the virtues of ignorance. And because of the unbeleivable polarisation of US politics it's going to be more important for the talking heads on FOX and the rest of the right wing pundits to defend those candidates against whatever the democrats throw at them instead of taking an honest step back and asking 'WTF is going on here, do these people really represent my party'? * Plus the usual faction of hysterical morons who kick and scream about any new vaccination because they don't have a clue how they actually work. Your preaching to the choir.
  13. I'm flabbergasted that Perry supported this vaccine, most conservatives went ape shit thinking this would turn 11 year old girls into sluts. I could never figure out who would think reducing the risk of cancer for their child is a bad thing. I didn't make the quote you credit me with. I think, the big thing was the side-effects of the drug and the idea of the governor forcing something on people. People don't seem to care for that. There was a lot of mis-information about the drug. Also, when it was learned that Merck was a financial supporter of Perry, it didn't set well. Chuck My apologies, fixed it.

  15. Once again, most Republicans are misinformed when it comes to acorn, most think they received hundreds of millions of dollars. The facts are that they received 53 million federal dollars since 1994, A little over 3 million a year, BFD. They also think acorn stole the election for Obama. http://www.thedailybeast.com/newsweek/blogs/the-gaggle/2009/11/19/poll-majority-of-republicans-believe-acorn-stole-the-presidential-election.html
  16. That would be nice to require voters to be educated. The majority of studies done indicates that Republican voters are less likely to be informed on the facts and are also less educated than Democrats. http://www.watchblog.com/democrats/archives/005153.html

  18. I hate to ask a stupid question (although some say I have a real knack for it) and posting 45 minutes after taking an ambien. I timed him chopping and then extracting silver in just a little over 2 seconds. Is that way too long? I also noticed when he went silver, he felt down his webbing until he felt the handle, is that a bad technique?
  19. Funny you mention that, since it was your folks that wailed and gnashed your teeth over Bush and now say that it's A-OK since there's a Dem in the WH. You got the wrong man, I walked out of Fahrenheit 9/11 half way into it because it was mostly lies. I even started a thread here about what bullshit MM is. I had plenty to dislike bush about, I didn't need any bullshit lies. BTW this was one of my favorite links debunking the movie. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1164856/posts
  20. Trying to convince you that at this point during Obama's time in office, he has in fact taken less time off than Bush or Reagan is pointless. You seem to have the ability to completely ignore facts that don't coincide with your views. It's also funny watching all of the wailing and gnashing of teeth over Obama playing golf, It always makes me chuckle.
  21. I believe they have just one; Berne.
  22. You have a lot nerve trying to presents facts as the truth in the forum. I believe Donald trump when he says Obama has had more vacations that Bush had during his whole time in office. http://www.prisonplanet.com/trump-obama-takes-more-vacations-than-any-human-being-ive-ever-seen.html
  23. I wish there were more running like Huntsman on the right, It's refreshing to see a Republican who does not believe the earth is 6000 years old and can comprehend fourth grade science. It gives his views credibility when he accepts basics facts as truth. The Mormon thing is a bit hard to for me to handle, but the then again, Bachmann and Perry worry me that they are gonna try and help the whole Armageddon thing along.
  24. N years / 1000 is a close enough approximation for any jumping career barring radical sci-fi story like advances in life extension. You have a (1000 - 1) / (1000) = .999 probability of surviving one year, so your chances of surviving N years are .999 ^ N and odds of dying 1 - .999 ^ N. For 20 years your chances of dying are .0198 or 1 in 50.5. For 50 years the odds are .0488 or 1 in 20.5. For 100 years the odds are .0952 or 1 in 10.5. The approximation ceases to hold as years in sport approaches 1000. Methuselah would only have a 1 in 1.58 chance of dying after a 1000 year jumping career. Yup. It's easier the think about your chances of survival since you can multiply them. You can also think of the combination of independent scenarios for each year except the arithmetic gets messy. I know skydiving is dangerous, I just think it looks bad for the sport to have that category jumping out at you. I am pretty shitty at stats too, but I wonder what the odds are of during a 6 month period, before I had a 100 jumps, of sitting next to 2 people on the ride up that ended up going in.
  25. I don't know shit about search engines and such, but why is it when you Google "Dropzone", DZ.COM pops up first with the fourth category showing is "Skydiving Fatalities." this being between "locations" and "gear" It seems not the best way to present the sport to any one interested in making a first jump.
