  1. Can you please cite where Sharia law has ever been used in a criminal court of the United States? http://www.aclu.org/blog/religion-belief/debunking-mythical-sharia-threat-our-judicial-system
  2. Im guessing if only 39% of Americans believe in evolution, the number would be smaller if it was taken among only Christians. http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2009/02/12/4427408-poll-just-39-believe-in-evolution
  3. Why should we abolish the death penalty whe we we are in such an exclusive club: •Afghanistan •Antigua and Barbuda •Bahamas •Bahrain •Bangladesh •Barbados •Belarus •Belize •Botswana •Chad •China (People's Republic) •Comoros •Congo (Democratic Republic) •Cuba •Dominica •Egypt •Equatorial Guinea •Ethiopia •Guinea •Guyana •India •Indonesia •Iran •Iraq •Jamaica •Japan •Jordan •Kuwait •Lebanon •Lesotho •Libya •Malaysia •Mongolia •Nigeria •North Korea •Oman •Pakistan •Palestinian Authority •Qatar •St. Kitts and Nevis •St. Lucia •St. Vincent and the Grenadines •Saudi Arabia •Sierra Leone •Singapore •Somalia •Sudan •Syria •Taiwan •Thailand •Trinidad and Tobago •Uganda •United Arab Emirates •United States •Vietnam •Yemen •Zimbabwe
  4. For some, its not all that complicated; if it's a Government regulation then it's anti-American and anti-Christian. Every good conservative knows that a parent is the best person qualified to decide if their child should use a seat belt or if their infant should be strapped into a car seat.
  5. In California it's just a 30k liability minimum.
  6. The "click it or die outright" is the cheap and easy part if your not buckled in. The "click it or suffering a TBI" and spending the rest of your life on the tax-payers payers dime is the problem. My facility received 2 unrestrained TBI's last month, they are going to be on venilators and tube fed for the rest of their miserable lives, 10 years on average. At $35,00 a month and no insurance, the good folks of California are on the hook. With traffic deaths at the lowest level in 50 years I don't see this law ever changing. Driving a car is not a right, it's a privilege.
  7. Exclude him. Depending on employer contributions, plan costs, how many other children you have to insure (our plan costs the same regardless of how many children I have while individual plans are priced per person), your tax rates, and his insurability in the individual market that might be a fine idea. I'd be paying $400/month in pre-tax money to have one of the kids on my plan at work which is $207 in take-home pay. I was paying $80/month on an individual policy for our son before the market shake-up and am paying $140/month after. The co-pays and deductibles aren't as good although at $1524/year then and $804 a year less expensive now that doesn't matter much, especially when predictable costs can be paid out of an FSA using pre-tax dollars. At my work, there is no differences in the price I pay if I have one child or five; about $600 every month. being single, with my daughter being covered by her mother, I pay only about eighty dollars amonth for myself. My point to airdvr is that for one who thinks Obama's coverage for children, up until the age of 26 is a mistake for this country. However, when this benefits his child, I would hope that he is thankful. Perhaps because I work in the pediatric nuring field, I see many children (Up to the age of twenty one) who have suffered major life altering events. A good portion that I see who have no insurance or are under insured. Theses families face complete financial ruin. Even in the nursing field, my work will hire 3 part timers instead of 1 full timer to save on benifits. The world has changed in the last 25 years, to have your child with out insurance is pretty stressful for any parent. If you think one can just find a job with medical thses days, you're mistaken and your very unrealalistic.
  8. Romney claims that he does not back this and for good reason. To make an issue of Obama' Minister and religion, while your a Mormon, may not play out so well, and Mitt knows this. I say "Bring it on" http://news.yahoo.com/super-pac-plans-attack-obamas-ties-rev-jeremiah-190753053.html
  9. I likewise don't understand how people who think the government to be incompetent when executing people can be trusted for anything else. Both sides of the coin. Once the Government can conspire for your execution, everything else seems a very distant second, once your life is taken, liberty and the pursuit of happniness is a moot point.
  10. I have never fully understood why those who claim the Government to be so inept and never to be trusted, have no problem with them executing it's people. It will take more than just executing innocent people, it will take the execution of a decent innocent person to change the views of society.
  11. Her high school offered no softball. I bet the guys would have had no problem playing against her, unfortnatley, the decision was probably made by a Priest.(In 2012) In 50 years, people wil look back at such things and just shake their heads.
  12. "Sultzbach told the Arizona Republic that she felt put down by being asked to sit out those first two meetings".
  13. Courage is standing up for your beliefs, even if it costs you a default loss. True courage would be refusing to join and participate in an orginization you believe is in conflict with your beliefs. But then again it's the Catholic church were talking about.
  14. Character? Character is not taking your ball and going home.
  15. Why? If they are unwilling to compete against all eligible league teams, they should not be allowed to compete at all. They took away the experience of the other school's well earned right to compete for the championship. Perhaps they could form their own league with other like-minded Catholic, Mormon, and Islamic schools.
  16. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/phoenix-school-forfeits-game-due-203607060--spt.html They should be allowed to believe in anything they like, they should also be denied the privilege to compete in any state high school baseball league. Maybe they could get a pick-up game going with the Duggar boys.
  17. I have never looked at it from that perspective, you are 100% right.
  18. A large number of "Participants" at most 12 step programs are under court order to attend, since the majority of the 12 steps require belief in a "Higher power" it is clearly a violation of establishing a state sanctioned religion. There is zero science that 12 step programs work. I think you sell yourself short when a person gives credit to God and not to themselves.
  19. It was not another explanation. It was a term invented by fundamentalist Christians, who were trying to get creationism to be re- introduced into public education under the guise of science. The "Discovery institute" an ultra-conservative Christian think tank introduced the textbook "Of Panda's and People" that first used the term of ID, this book was the central focus of the landmark case against the Dover board of education, for attempting to teach ID in the local high school. This was featured in a very well done "Nova" on PBS. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/evolution/intelligent-design-trial.html
  20. Speaking of thinking, how can you reconcile voting for someone who denies the trinity, while voting against someone who has professed his faith in it? How can one be a Christian when beleiving that Jesus and Satan were flesh and blood brothers on another planet?
  21. As opposed to who? -You are right, it's just as pointless...so why make it a requirement? -As opposed to those who would discuss the actual issues instead of argue from a foundation of hatred for others. It's funny how you think I hate, to kind of borrow from a popular Christian phrase " Hate the beliefs and not the believer" is my motto. Outside of this site, I rarely espouse my atheism to anyone, I think sitting behind a keyboard( Or standing over a phone) gives us a little more courage then we might normally muster.
  22. Why? Please don't tell me you are going down the rabbit hole of "prove God exists"....are you? Atheists...so irritating. Kinda like mosquitoes...constantly buzzing and doing no good at all. Reminds me of children throwing temper tantrums. The OP is one of the primes. *** Athiest doing no good? This just shows the ignorance of those who think only good can come from believers.

    Polygamy

The polygamy rate would go down dramatically if we stopped giving them Government funds. http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/anderson.cooper.360/blog/2006/05/how-polygamy-affects-your-wallet.html
