Are you on it with logging your jumps?
crutch replied to SkydiveNFlorida's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Actually, I write down jumps in my planner, more because of all the students I am involved with, a lawyer advised to, just in case. And yes, I have been asked to see a logbook at several west coast dropzones. It was easy having my planner with me, although, total jump numbers and time aren't in there, they were more than satisfied with what I had. blue skies, art -
:6:0 Five on Saturday, one very cold(looked at the temp, 28 at 8000', didn't look again) AFF jump on Sunday. Someone is actually in class today, so I am heading back out for a jump this afternoon. blue skies, art

Shooting Fireworks Out of Your Ass Can Be Painful
crutch replied to PalletMan's topic in The Bonfire
The funniest thing about this is......you are the second dumbass I have known to do this to himself! As one of my skydiving mentors use to say "if you are going to be stupid, you had better be tough" blue skies, art -
Don't I wish, it is not looking very promising at this point. We are jumping into the Gator Bowl on New Year's Day, but the plane(206) is already full. If something does comeup, you are definitely on the list. blue skies, art

Sorry mike, has to be a star and a sidekick, I am glad you have come to realize that being a sidekick isn't so bad after all. blue skies, art

Well, while ya'll fight over where the PAC 750 will be, we will be jumping the otter, any questions? I also take it, Skydive Jacksonville is reopening for the week, as when I was at Herlong on Saturday, the place was pretty desserted (and their web site is down). Just a first-hand observation. blue skies, art

You jump the gun on this one Jeff. Anyhow, Skydive Palatka (with very nice facilities, best in the Jacksonville area) will have Aerohio's super otter flying from Dec. 26 through the end of January. So here is another viable option (with no just for the weekend event and Winnie always buys lunch for the jumpers at no added cost). blue skies, art

Kai, some advice from someone who has had two failed marriages do to skydiving. It had nothing to do with skydiving! The way you are talking, you sound miserable and it has nothing to do with you skydiving or not. Saying she wins, that is a bunch of bs and you are going to be angry about that. It is also going to eat at you like nothing else. Compromise is not such a good thing, finding a win-win situation is a much better thing to do. As my second marriage comes to a close, we sat down and discussed where each of us wanted to be in ten years. She didn't want to be involved or have any of the liability of the things I wanted to do. So we are going our seperate ways, but because we are are still very good friends we are actually staying very close. No hard feelings, no messy court battles, none of that stuff. What I am trying to say is, you need to be true to yourself, don't compromise, get some counseling, find a win-win solution, it is out there, it might not be obvious, but you can find it it without giving up the things that make you who you are! blue skies, art

What day is the jump going to be in the hills? I am willing to shoot down there that day (as long as it isn't the first, we are jumping into the gator bowl) and lend my body to the east coast group. It has been a few years since I have done anything bigger than twenty though. If it is a day that some of the jax crowd is out of work, I will drag them down with me! blue skies, art

:14:0 Another great weekend with my best friend, including five wingsuit jumps with her on Friday at the wingsuit boogie. Five tandems on Saturday, one at the end of the day with a wonderful view of the sunset in freefall (this while most of the state was under the weather). Next weekend I get to be Santa for several demo jumps in Jax! blue skies, art

Ray, not sure what you were looking at this morning, but I do believe it was a slight bit lower than that. Anyhow, I had a great time yesterday, thanks. blue skies, art

Last year we had a tandem master with all the credentials show up at our dz. He even had a letter of recommendation from a very well known skydiver. Well to make a long story short, he is sitting in a wheelchair with no feeling from the neck down, the only good thing that happened was the student wasn't hurt too badly. So, I really don't care about credentials anymore! blue skies, art

When did a tandem become just another skydive? This is one thing that definitely got forgotten in this thread! What proof does the dzo have that you are any good at tandems. We get plenty of so called tandem masters drifting through here during the winter months, after a few jumps, the realization they are going to hurt someone is eveident. Another thing, your so called experienced tandem passenger, what proof does she have that she has made several jumps? I still don't see what the big deal of a few extra dollars is. Hell, there are drop zones out there that don't want even experience jumpers at them, you are complaining about a few extra dollars, give it up! blue skies, art

Geez Peter, it was so bad Annie (my nine-year old) was chewing them out for being so sorry. I don't think those two are even going to ride back in the plane together. The blonde was ready to kill her "best friend". blue skies, art

Deland wingsuit bigways and skills camp 3-5 Dec
crutch replied to SkymonkeyONE's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Hey Chuck, I am coming out on Friday, only have about ten jumps on my S3, 25 total wingsuit jumps. Sometimes it is hard to break old habits and stay dearched for 120 seconds. Anyhow, I am getting down in the low sixties now. Hope to see you there, we will be out early in the morning. Here are some pictures of my new toy! blue skies, art -
:12:0 Great holiday weekend (ate way too much, need to get back to training), jumped at five different dz's, saw lots of old friends and spent a lot of time with my best one. blue skies, art
-
But it is also not just another skydive, so him charging a little extra is not out of line. $25 bucks extra, c'mon, what is the big deal. To tell you the truth, if I had a set precedent at my drop zone (this DZO seem to have one), I am not going to change it for anyone, no if's, and's or but's about it, makes things too messy. blue skies, art
-
If you are visiting a drop zone, the DZO does not know you personally, he is taking on some added risk letting someone do a tandem there. I can understand them wanting to charge a little extra. Someone taking someone on a tandem, other than a licensed skydiver, is adding risk to their business. Does this "tandem passenger" belong to USPA, if not, there is no insurance coverage for the dz either. Deland charges $60 (this includes the slots)for me taking anon-skydiver on a tandem, I have no problem with this and have taken several people like you are describing on tandems there. blue skies, art

Yes, there are airspace restrictions over the Disney theme parks. Having been involved in trying to do some demos into Disney World this past summer. It is Disney, not the FAA involved in keeping these jumps fromm happening. Our FSDO was willing to work with us, but the Disney officials didn't want to "compromise" the airspace restrictions as I was told. blue skies, art

Justin, this time when I pack it, try to go a little longer than three jumps before you bring it back to me. Anyhow, great job on dealing with a spinning mal at night! I will have it packed up for the weekend. blue skies, art
-
I forgot all about skyquest this weekend, I was spending it with a beautiful young lady friend. Anyhow, counting Thursday's Demo, :10:0 Oh, I never owe beer.... blue skies, art

Alcohol is a bad thing, although as we get older we learn where our limits are, right Adam. Jeremy, I know how it is with packing and everyone else having a good time, you did the right thing, having fun is much better than packing all weekend. Trust me all that triathlon training didn't help, it was Tuesday before I felt right. We also have to thank Jeff, who ended up cleaning up a good portion of the mess we left behind. blue skies, art
-
I didn't know of any glitches, other than we just ran out of time for me to ride the bike. Everyone did a great job and stayed safe! Can't wait until next year, maybe my packer will actually be packing for me instead of jumping! blue skies, art

Attached is one of the tandems on Sunday. Next year you have to do as many tandems as me and pack though Mike. You need to get on Penny's bike and start working out, it is on 360 days away. Thanks to everyone who made it a great time! Oh yeah, next year we need to keep Adam away from the tarantula on Friday night so he is able to jump more than once on Saturday. blue skies, art
