  1. hmmm, skydiving for a lving, hmmm, geez, making enough to pay the bills, free beer on the weekends, I guess a 9, I do have to strap myself to beautiful young ladies three or four times a day.....
  2. Works for all of us, we get a laugh and beer too, sounds almost like heaven!
  3. :12:0 12 tandems, 10 of them over 210#, so I am a little sore. Can't believe we got up so many loads with all the rain we are having in Florida. Thanks to Ben for all the beer on Sunday!
  4. You da man Ben, thanks for the Beer! One of these days we will fix your exits. Art
  5. Actually, my girlfriend was with me, she loved the frog. Too bad she didn't get a prince when she kissed me, just another skydiver
  6. :18:0 14 tandems, 2 AFF. 1 hop-n-pop and one demo jump dressed as a frog for a restaurant in myrtle beach. The things us skydiver do for a open bar tab!
  7. :13:0 Ten tandems, two AFF jumps and one jump on my baby's new 107. blue skies, art
  8. I cannot tell by the pictures, but I believe there is suppose to be a metal ring between the fabric in the last picture (inside the "pocket" you see sewn there). Just my guess though.
  9. You know Dave, I do the same thing, but reading it that way makes it sound like work! I like your first response MUCH better!
  10. You mean there is a difference?
  11. You still haven't answered everyone's question, what is your agenda? As far as per drop zone statistics go, lawyers would have a field day if we as an organization were to make public this kind of information. We as an organization keep statistics to improve the safety of our sport. By keeping the information private, we generate quite a bit larger data base without subjecting the reports to people like who, who have no idea what they are reading. We monthly publish accident reports in our publication, pick one up and read it. dz.com is not the only source of information. You want to improve our sport (of which you admittedly have very little knowledge until you saw a sensationalized story), you need to experience it. You would also find we lose a large portion of our brethern to mistakes that they initiated, not through malfunctioning, underdeveloped or misused equipment!
  12. :3:0 Actually made 10 for the week. Winded out on Saturday, three tandems Sunday morning, then the whole thing that happened Saturday in Deland kinda took the wind out of my sails. Just needed to get away from jumping for an afternoon.
  13. Hey Ben, welcome to skydiving! See you at the DZ this weekend.
  14. Kallend, I think you are misunderstand completely wjat they are trying to say. I have been involved in this discussion more than once and have to side with the people you are talking about. This is my example....and airtec used it in one of their ads years ago. A skydiver exits the airplane and on the exit his cut-away handle gets pulled. He continues in freefall, not pulling the main because he realizes it is going go be released. So he skydives until his AAD fires, stating he knew it would save his life. Now, does this person need to be skydivcing anymore, not at my drop zone! Yes the AAD kept him in the gene pool, when stupidity should have had him eliminated from it! These are the people that are skydiving nowadays, and there are more of them. Honestly, the best thing airtec has done is made many more people aware of pull altitudes because of the fear of two situations. Skydivers as a whole are pulling higher now than they did twenty years ago, this has made a much bigger impact than AADs.
  15. Quite a few in their eightys (twenty plus) and one guy who was 93. Under canopy he tells me "Art, I hope you are not mad, but I lied on my waiver, I have a pacemaker".
  16. Hey chuck, let me see if i remember, as I haven't jumped a vector two in four years. The difference also lies in how many main drogue releases you have (one or two). On the sigma they are interconnected, whereas on the vector II they are not. As far as cutting away, you need to know which system you have (skyhook, rsl, some older rigs have an extra lanyard to ensure both risers are released). So these are all inspections before the jump, so none is probably right. The kill cord breaking...a harder(faster) than normal openning could occur since the drogue would not collapse (i have had this happen). Also, under canopy, there is a much more noticable drag from the drogue. Hope this helps. I am picking up your lens saturday, should ship it to you on monday.
  17. Sounds very good for Tammie and I!
  18. :14:0 !2 tandems, two videos, first in years, need to work on it a little, 1 AFF level I that landed in the treees a mile from the dz (spent the last three hours of daylight sat. getting my canopy back), didn't get to jump with my baby either
  19. :1:0 Another terriable rainy weekend in Florida. Got to practice with Ronnie's Flag (2000 sq ft) one my one jump of the weekend. Maybe things will get better this weekend! But, I did go to church with Tammie! Although I had to dodge the fire and brimstone the preacher was directing at me. There is hope for this heathen! blue skies, art
  20. I have to agree with everyone in this thread that if you are presenting into the wind, the chance of a sidespin is greatly reduced. That being said, twin bos, twin beeches, queen-aires and king-aires with the tight tandem exits are the ones that I have had sidespin scenarios out of. Actually, when I exit these planes now, I don't even try to get into the relative wind with large passengers, just flip a few times, get big, find stability and throw the drogue. seems to work much better for me!
  21. Yeah, five tandems jumps into Alltel Stadium, one at night on national TV!
  22. Now I know why it takes you so long to reply to me! Love you too!
