It sounds like he may have insurance but even with insurance I can guarantee the people that are in Thailand helping Rob have put out cash to help get things done. I imagine that the boat ride itself out of Ton Sai was a mission. Insurance may cover his medical bills but there are many other expenses that occur when stuff like this happens over seas. There is a Russian couple who were BASE jumping with Rob who are helping him while he is in hospital and taking care of things for him. The hospital is a couple hours away from where the accident happened so there are travel and accommodation expenses being paid out of pocket. I would hope we would all be so lucky to have friends who would help us when these kinds of things happen so far from home. Rob is doing well and should be out of the hospital soon :) Have you seen my pants? it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream >:) -
Pencil and a sketchbook! Ok probably not ideal for keeping the weight down but still a fun idea. Saw a few people doing this on my travels last year. My favourite part of this idea is giving the book to someone else and have them draw or write something for you. Could make for some cool memories. As for the camera you can have a look at mine. Sucks that it happened but there are no guarantees when you buy a vehicle for $1100. What are the repairs needed? I'm assuming this is a quote from a garage to fix the problem properly when many times things can be "patched up" to get the vehicle running again. Might be time for this 20 yr old to learn how to turn some wrenches and try to fix the vehicle. That's how I learned to fix cars... Yup, as your altitude increases you may have to let some of the air out of the inflatable. When you get back on the ground you may have to pump your date up again if she is going to make it to the party that night.
