  1. I think they would all class as things you need a ff friendly rig for, and backflying is freeflying.
  2. Funny I was thinking the same today! His fbook is down and the website is "under construction". I have a feeling he's concentrating on his shop at the dz at the moment.
  3. Does anyone have any experience with th nz aerosports matrix? Is it compatible with any other canopies? Any info on them would be great. Cheers

    Liquid eyewear

Thank for the info, I've emailed them. Just FYI I'm actually bade in new Zealand now. Cheers
  5. Best bet is to speak to your dzo and see what they want you to do. I started with the same sort of plan and within 9 months of starting to work there as a full time driver I had a full time camera slot. Also when you start getting decent videos show them to your dzo and ask him want he wants you to do differently.

    Liquid eyewear

Does anyone know the cheapest place to buy a pair of liquid eyewear sunglasses? Cheers
  7. People that were there have said the passenger had 16 previous tandems, so not a first timer by any stretch of he imagination, allbeit not an experienced jumpEr.
  8. The Safire 1 has a lower flare than the safire 2 but event with lengthened brake lines I have no trouble shutting it down in nil winds, u have jumped a safire1 and now jump a safire2 150 and like the safire1 more. A couple of people have said to me that the safire 2 is the same as the safire1 but with all the good bits taken out (apart from the openings being nicer in the 2) and I agree aswell. Having said that the 129 will be too small for you. If you want something a bit more fun try a Safire 1 169 (I'm being serious) it's slightly larger and has longer lines but feels more aggressive than your canopy now. Take what I have said with a pinch of salt as I only have about 250 jumps on a Safire 1's and 100 on Safire 2's
  9. Not really a trick if it's what the manufacturer reccomends. I used to get perfect openings on my Safire by psyco packing (because it's how the manufacturer recommends) and now I use packers 90% of the time and I pro pack it aswell, because I'm quicker at it and never have I had an opening anywhere near as good!
  10. The most sport jumper friendly dz in Taupo will be taupo tandem skydiving. Otherwise you may be lucky and be able to jump at one of the others (freefall or skydive taupo). Matamata (skydive waikato, about an hour north of taupo) is very receptive to sport jumpers and may well be busy this weekend as it's a bank holiday, they have 2 cesnas. Further north of matamata is Mercer which I haven't jumped at but they have a porter and sometimes go to 20k. Only other place I have jumped is ballistic blondes in whangerei which was awesome and they do regular beach jumps, they also have a small cesna though. Hope this helps.
  11. Just wondering what everyone uses to proctect their stills cameras? The only thing I've really seen is the deepseed camera sock, I'm just looking for something to protect my camera and possibly outside if lens from the elements? Cheers Max
  12. Sorry I've seen padded container not dbag
  13. That's what we have at the dz i jump at in uk. All we do is sign ourselves back in on a computer as we land.
  14. Just an idea as I have next to no clue about anything!! But have you tried changing the shutter speed to something like 1/400? May speed it up?

    Downsize

Why do you want to know? Is it so there's a chance you might get rid of that nagging worry feeling in the back of your head about flying a canopy that you really shouldn't be by hoping that someone else got away with it so you'll be fine?
  16. Do we really need another thread for this?? I mean, l&b are great and all but there must be 100 threads like this! There was one last week! Can't we resurrect those and have all the good stories about them in one place? Sorry must have got up on the wrong side of the bed!
  17. I'd think that maybe Still the guy with 200 jumps as he has been around longer so will more likely have seen more carnage and be more aware of the risks; but the guy with 100 may be more ready with flying skills etc. As said even with 200 jumps you may not be ready, so even though one might be more ready than the other it looks like neither would be ready to jump a camera. Having said that, I know of a place where they put people with 80odd jumps on camera as most of them have been practicing for it.
  18. They may well be, but they won't have reached the minimum requirements so it doesn't matter.
  19. Haha I see what you mean, what I should have said was when you have reached the minimum requirements, you should have a better idea of wether or not you are ready without having to ask if it's cool to break the rules, but you're right you should also check you cci thinks you're ready because some people are still not ready after the minimum.
  20. When one doesn't have to ask If they're ready...
  21. It happens quite often in the uk as part of the JM1 sticker for your B licence.
