Well, I met a fabulous man while skydiving and now we have a little one on the way....pretty life~changing I'd say Plus I had always dreamt of flying and now I fly on a regular basis and the freedom that comes from finally following a dream is remarkable! I call this the "horse near the barn" syndrome! so I know what you mean! Very normal, you will learn to enjoy the plane and the door, remember to breath deeply at least the last 1000ft on the climb to altitude (it will help you relax) The way I see it, landing is one of the most dangerous aspects of this sport, so you should worry to a certain extent, watch experienced skydiver's land every chance you get!! Yup, you are a skydiver! Blue skies jess "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen

New guy here - Almost ready for my 1st Jump

I too reccomend the SIM {skydiver's information manual} and the above post gives you the download link, you can also go ahead and purchase one. The SIM has alot of important information you will need to know to safely skydive. Congrats! on your weight loss! You must feel like a million dollars! Not only are you going to live a healthier life but now you get to jump outta planes!! you can't beat that. I think you'll find that skydiving is a very mental sport, use this winter to prepare yourself mentally, and don't forget to report back when you start your AFF! good luck and blue skies! jess "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen -

It is a very touching story indeed -
I was for a whole 8 years I am not sure how I feel about marriage now, though my boyfriend recently asked me if I want to date him for 20 years I responded, "only 20?" but the point is, I enjoyed his question of dating indefinately..... as others have pointed out, the paper / contract is only that, paper. The committment, growth and self-less love is where a real "union" is formed after all. "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen

First jump impressions - am I normal?
dreaming13000 replied to NotBond's topic in Introductions and Greets
*no expert here* what is normal anyways? i find that a very relative term, but as far as skydiving goes, you are having a "normal" reaction and you may very possibly be hooked already I'd do another tandem and think about if this sport is for you and if so, sign up for your solos and let the jumping begin! good luck and blue skies jess "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen -
favorite part of skydiving

For me it's the smell of gear... New gear, old gear, doesn't matter. I noticed that smell right away the first time I set foot on a dropzone and to this day it still makes me smile. mmmmm the smell of jet fuel fumes = fun! That's a lot of asshole! "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen -
Before I told anyone else that I was going to learn to skydive, I did a ton of research on fatalities, expenses, future careers etc... to back up my argument. When I dropped "the bomb" my parents responded quite well. Though they aren't totally "okay" with my skydiving, they don't hassle me either. My brothers are stoked, my daughter (7yrs old) is a frequent flier at the nearest wind tunnel and has become a bit of a dz brat. The friends that refused to support my new hobby and love for it.......well *shrug* i have new friends now, who skydive and share a common interest with me. How do you use your Closing Pin Necklace?
dreaming13000 replied to Casch's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I bought myself a closing pin necklace right after AFF as well, to date I have yet to take it off. I don't care who sees it or asks about it. This necklace is for me, a reminder of how lucky i consider myself to be a part of this awesome sport and the changes it has made in my life.
