That's basically what I was thinking, too. Paypal has a buyer protection service so it seems like a win-win situation. I have suggested it again and will wait to see what they say. If they don't agree this time, then I will just tell them "no-go."

Does anyone know anything about the Rio de Janeiro Parachute Federation? I have a canopy for sale in the classifieds and have been contacted by someone who says they are very interested in the canopy. They want me to send it to the Rio de Janeiro Parachute Federation, check it out, and pay for it the day after it arrives. I have told them that I am not comfortable doing that and made other suggestions... like pay for it via Paypal and let me know if they want it or not. If they return it, then all money paid, minus the shipping cost for me to send it there, will be refunded. Can someone help me with this?? My brain is frazzled right now and I don't know how else to handle this.

Travis has been renamed by Bill Raferty... he is now SpazCRASH Monkey. He's doing better. They are trying to get him up so he can move around and go home. I'll be glad to have him home... it's lonely without him. Thank goodness we have great friends!

Tunnel Time Entry in Profile.
jumpergirl replied to cybervagrant's topic in Suggestions and Feedback
I totally agree. I think it would be nice to see who the tunnel rats are and who has what time in the tunnel. I have a measly 7 1/2 minutes, but it's time. Just as freefall time is time, even if it's a hop-n-pop. It's an extension of skydiving, they are related, so I think it should be recognized somehow. -
Skydive Miami is the closest and by far the best dz in the Miami area. There are others within a couple hours, as well as Z-hills up here. Your best bet will be Miami.

The latest addition to the list of injuries includes a torn rotator cuff in his left shoulder. He doesn't expect surgery. It does explain why his shoulder is hurting so much.

He was trying to downshift, gave it too much gas, and lost control. He was coming to a stop light which was turning red, swerved to the left to avoid hitting the car right in front of him, crossed the parking lot of a corner gas station (thankfully closed so there were no cars) and came out of the other side, t-boning a car sitting on the other side waiting for their light to turn. He flew over the car and across the street, about 100 feet.

Travis asked me to say thanks for all of the warm wishes, vibes sent, PMs, e-mails, and phone calls from everyone here. It means a lot to both of us.

Ron and Ellie have been great through all of this. They are taking good care of Sky for us. I've been at a hotel in Tampa to be closer to Travis. I'll be home tonight.

Day 4 and things are getting better. He only broke his right ankle. They put pins in it and have him in a walking cast already. He has a lot of stitches on his left foot and knee. His left knee looked like someone too an ice cream scoop to it and scooped out a section! Very gross... but they pulled it together and stitched it up. He fractured his elbow and pelvis, but not very badly. He said they told him this morning that he may be able to leave soon, but he did't ask how soon. I can't wait to have him home with me. I feel like my other half is missing right now. Thank God he's able to come home soon... whenever that is. For that I am thankful.

I can only think of Travis.

When he is online he's invisible. I'll keep everyone updated. As soon as he can, he'll be on here posting himself.

Well I just saw Travis. He's doing well despite being broken. He is still in ICU but they told him they are going to move him to a regular room sometime today. Again, I can't say thanks enough for all of the well wished, PMs, e-mails, and phone calls. It's nice to know who our friends are.

I just called the hospital and was told that Travis is finally in an ICU room! I was beginning to wonder if I'd ever get to see him! I'm on my way to the hospital and will update again once I find out how he's doing. The PMs and calls are helping me more than I can tell you. Thanks so much.

Hey Chuck, yes, it was Derek's bike. As far as why he got the clutch and gas mixed up... you'd just have to know Travis. LOL He ma have just gotten confused. I haven't asked him specifically yet. I got to see him this afternoon about 2:15. He is still in surgical recovery waiting for a room in the ICU. I guess because of the pelvic injuries and the spleen bleeding they want to keep him in ICU for a little while. They weren't supposed to let me in to see him when I did but since he isn't right out of surgery I guess they decided it would be ok. He;s got great spirits and making jokes. He's said he has learned a great lesson the hard way and he knows he got a second chance which he wasn't expecting as he was flying across the road. This last 18 months has been hard on us. Thankfully we're strong and we can lean on each other and we have a great group of friends here. They certainly help since neither of us have family right here. Thanks for the vibes, PMs, and calls. It means so much to both of us.

I didn't get to see him this morning. I did find out that they did surgery last night and set his ankle. They didn't have to remove his spleen, but they are still keeping him prepped for surgery just in case. He is supposed to be in an ICU room sometime today. I have thanked God so many times for not taking him and letting a broken ankle, fractures in his pelvis, and lots of road rash the worst of it. All I can think of is that it could have been so much worse.
-
I'm not sure what kind of bike it was. I know it was a powerful one, one of the best on the market but I can't remember what kind. If I think to ask, I'll let you know.

Thanks for all of the warm vibes, prayers, phone calls and PMs. I am about to go back to the hospital and check on him, get an update, and see if he's still out. They told me last night they would keep him sedated for a while, but I wasn't thinking straight and didn't ask how long. I'll post again when I can. Thanks again

Travis had a nasty motorcycle accident this afternoon. He was on someone else's bike and went into town to the store as far as I know. He was trying to hit the clutch and hit the gas instead. He lost control and ended up t-boning a parked car. He flew over the car, across the street, and landed about 100 yards away. He broke his left ankle for sure, most likely his right ankle as well. He fractured his left elbow and his left shoulder is dislocated. He has some fractures in his pelvis although they aren't sure of the extent right yet. They think he has bleeding in his spleen and if it doesn't get better they will have to remove it. When I left the hospital at 10:30 tonight they were getting him prepped for surgery - I assume for his ankle. They had to take him to the OR, knock him out, clean him up since he's full of asphalt, roll him over and check out the backside of his body, and fix what they can. I'm so incredibly mentaly exhausted but I'm afraid to sleep. Maybe not afraid, but I just want this to be over already. It just started... but it already seems like it's endless. Please send your vibes and prayers. He got incredibly lucky and it could definitely be much worse, but it's bad enough that he will be out of work and out of jumping for a long while.
