How do I find an old Marine recruiting poster...
jumpergirl replied to jumpergirl's topic in The Bonfire
I did speak with a historian, or someone who worked in that department. I have a copy of the picture that was used for my grandfather's poster, and faxed it to the guy I talked to. He called me back about a week later and said he couldn't find it. -
How do I find an old Marine recruiting poster...
jumpergirl replied to jumpergirl's topic in The Bonfire
...from Pennsylvania from sometime between 1930-1960? My grandfather was used as the "poster boy" for a recruiting poster way back when. He died 21 years ago. My grandmother says she may or may not have a copy. She does not like to share things with us and has actually burnt a few boxes of pictures because "it's nobody's business." I spent several days a few years ago, trying to track that posted down. I called Virginia, DC, the Marine recruiting place where I lived... to no avail. Do any of you know how I might be able to find it? Thanks! -
DITTO!!! I have about 6 I think. The problem is that all of the SCRs I do, are with J. So much for catching up to him! One SCR in particular at SkyFest 05 stands out in my mind. BRYANGOESBOOM had an awesome SCR jump!!

From what I remember about Strange Love, they were "dating" and then she said, "Oh yeah, I'm getting married this weekend." Not those exact words, but something along those lines. It was a mean thing for her to do, but I guess it's all about entertainment. Apparently he's gotten over it.

In the middle of the table is a food tray with five kinds of Fruits on it. They are: a. Apple b. Banana c. Strawberry d. Peach e. Orange Which fruit will you choose? Apple: That means you are a person who loves to eat apples b. Banana: That means you are a person who loves to eat bananas c. Strawberry: That means you are a person who loves to eat strawberries d. Happy New Year to you, too, Larry!! I do hope you make it to SkyFest this year! We can't wait to see you again. -
That's how I got my last doggie. She was wondering around outside of the store and a friend's dad took her home. They couldn't keep her and I ended up with her. I sure miss her. I had to find a new home for her back in July. I get emails from "her" now and then and I got THE most adorable Chistmas present from her. I scanned it and attached a picture, along with the note "she" sent. It made me cry. But I know she's happy and is being taken well care of.

That's nice. Thanks for sharing.

That's a great idea. The seller seems to think Sky Ride is legit and not a problem. Why should he care now, aynway? He made his $99 on something he got free, he's done with it. I feel bad for the guy who won the auction. I wish him luck redeeming them.
-
So, I sent that guy a message and asked if he knew what Skyride was and told him they were a shady operation. I don't remember my exact words, but that was the gist of it. I finally got a reply back. I hope the guy who won those certificates doesn't get screwed over.

That reminds me of another story. Since I was older than my brother, I used to blame him for everything. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. When we were younger, we would take our showers before bedtime. Moma took hers in the morning after we left for school. I guess I was about 12 at the time, so Jeff (my brother) was 10 or so. Well, one night I unscrewed the shower head and couldn't get it to go back on right. Water sprayed in all directions and I got scared. I didn't want to admit that I did it, so I didn't say anything. I guess this was on a weekend, because the next day when Moma took her shower I could hear her cussing and asking, "What in the HELL!?!?" I guess she fixed it and continued with her shower. When she got done, she found us and asked us which one did it. Both of us said, "Not me." She kept asking and we kept denying. Finally, she put us both in the corner and said we had to stand there until one of us admitted to it. Somehow, I convinced Jeff he did it. (He wasn't the brightest growing up, but neither was I!) So, he finally went to Moma and told her he did it. She sent him to his room for the rest of the day and I got to go outside and play.

That sounds DELICIOUS!!! Thanks Bob!

My brother is 2 1/2 years younger than me. We used to fight all the time. This was when I was about 8 and he was 5 1/2 or 6 I guess. My grandmother was babysitting while our parents were at work. One night we were in the kitchen, close to the fridge. I was wearing white shorts. For some reason we were fighting and he said he was going to pour Kool-Aid down my shorts. (I have no idea why, now.) I told him to go ahead and try. HE DID! RED Kool-Aid! So my shorts were soaked, there was Kool-Aid all over the floor. I started crying and went to the bathroom to take a bath. The tub was full so I was leaning over to turn off the water. He came in behind me and pushed me in - still fully clothed. I remembered being SOOOOOO mad at him. I turned around and slapped him as hard as I could. A few hours later when Moma got home, he still had my handprint on his face. I got in SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much trouble. I tried to explain what happened, but it was useless. And Granny wasn't much help. She thought the whole thing was hilarious.

THAT'S IT!!!!!!!!!!! WALT, you're the best!!!!!!!!!!! You've saved me from spending a whole day on this!!!!!!!
-
That's not it, but it sure sounds good!!! I'll try that, too! The thing I'm looking for sounds like "klotshkey," I think, but it's not spelled that way. I have no idea how to spell it. I've tried every combination I can think of and it's just not coming up.
-
I can't spell the name correctly, so I can't seem to find the recipe. We found them at a doughnut shop. It starts with a K. It's a small "biscuit" with sausage and cheese inside. Can anyone help me!?!?!?!?! Thanks!

Thanks Larry, I think the guys above are trying to find a number somewhere between 10154 and 10182 with no rounds. Your number is after that, but at least now there is a record of it here. We can't wait to see you again! We had so much fun last time. Hope to see you soon (at SkyFest?!?!?!?!?) Jaime -
I sent a care package to GQ_jumper with nothing but different cookies. He loved it and I made a great friend out of the deal.
