I think everyone should read the entire article, not just John's excerpt, before they comment. If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

No. Not the same thing. But you still don't understand that this not about fairness, but about Alex being much liked by the posters here. It's a very different issue, and yet you continue to focus on the issue that is not at issue. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

Gee, why didn't I expect anything different from you? Its OK to be unfair as long as it works in your favor. As I said, Ron, this is a popularity contest. The fact of the matter is that Sangiro can do whatever he wants. I see this thread as a show of support for Alex, not as an attempt to sway Sangiro. We've already had that discussion, and dropzone.com is not a democracy, and this is not about fairness. Nothing about what I've written here is going to work "in [my] favor." Nor do I believe it's going to change the outcome in any way. For me, it's a very simple matter. I miss Alex. I don't see that my feelings have anything to do with you. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

That's because Ron didn't make a big deal out of it. He accepted that he violated the rules and was banned and let it go at that. Alex hasn't made a big deal of it. I haven't noticed that Alex has mentioned it. Look, this isn't about Ron. You want to take a stand on Ron's behalf, feel free. But please don't try to persuade me that they have anything in common beyond their banning from SC. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

This isn't about fair. It's a popularity contest, plain and simple. No one has said any different. Those of us who know Alex, miss him, and we're making our position known. That's all. It doesn't extend to anyone else. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

Now there's a woman with initiative! I'm motivated. Otherwise I'll go out and do something foolish that I will undoubtedly regret. On the other hand, the last time, I wasn't foolish, but I was given reason to regret it anyway. Apparently, no matter what I do, I'm going to pay for it, so I guess I'll just choose the most interesting road to perdition, and ask y'all to pray for the quiet repose of my soul ever after. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. I'm not so sure of that. It's more like it burped a whole bunch of missing notifications and then went back to withholding them. Edited to add: Maybe not. They seem to be okay at the moment. But even after the burp, I was having trouble. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

OMG! Just for the record, he was "Artist Called Ian," i.e., ACI, not "Artist Calledian." The answer to "What Would Alex Crowley Do?" on the other hand, is the light that will lead us up from the darkness. Or something like that. Smartass. rl Edited to add: Can we get back to sex now? Wow! I never thought I would see a greenie troll for sex thread content! We haven't had any good sex threads lately. If this keeps up, I may have to go out and actually have sex. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

I think this needs more work. We're a melting pot, and in some pockets of the nation, other languages have been around as long as, if not longer than, English. There seem to be many countries in which the residents are generally at least bilingual, and I wonder why we have this idea that it's everyone else's responsibility to learn English, but not ours to learn at least one other language. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. AFAIK, they sent it to everyone who has signed up for their mailing list. There was nothing on the copy I received to indicate it's top secret, eyes only, delete and reformat your hard-drive after reading. Adding to what Jason said, I have faith in Gardner, but I'm truly disturbed by the company he's keeping at the present time, and I don't think it bodes well for anyone who cares about base. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. When I started as a legal assistant, it was in a family law (then called matrimonial) practice, and I worked for a woman. I found the women attorneys to be eminently reasonable, but the men were insane. I don't know what has changed in the intervening 20 years, but it's not to the good. On the other hand, I do remember one client we had who insisted on filing a post-judgment motion about socks and underwear for the children. This was just one in a long run of competing motions, and the judge finally said "enough." But still...some clients are just insane. I'm pretty sure that particular divorce cost well more than $20k (each) and that was in 1984, when my then-boss was charging less than $100/hourly. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Woo hoo! What do I get to control. Gimme, gimme. I had to replace my sig temporarily, but here's my position: People demand freedom of speech to make up for the freedom of thought which they avoid. ~ Soren Aabye Kierkegaard (1813-1855) A little bit of thought goes a long way. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Nah. If people can't read, it's not your fault. Wait, you mean you advocate personal repsponsibility? Yes. I think you are personally responsible for everything that has gone wrong in the world since the dawn of time. [enunciates] It. ain't. so. ...but you're still responsible.
