A whole LOT of paratroopers would call that an -easy- jump. Besides 1200' is for training, IIRC they can go as low as 650' for actual combat jumps. Better hope that main opens, or you won't live to pull the reserve. I've done 2 jumps at 110 metres - you don't get issued a reserve for those...................

oxygen for aircraft up to 18.5 k and TSO-C64
Decodiver replied to skydivefj's topic in Safety and Training
I have more than 20 years experience of handling oxygen. Just be real careful if you are decanting between tanks with a whip (a decanting hose), I've seen many of those go incendiary over the years and have seen my fair share of closed-circuit rebreathers burst into flames when the O2 cylinder was turned on too. Once it burnt the boat down to the decking Treat oxygen with extreme caution it will fucking kill you in the blink of an eye if it goes bang and you really don't want a fire in an aluminum ac. Cheers, Coops. -
We're very proud of our teams! Well done guys 'n' gals!

'Cos you're good right? Those stories have relevance to everyone because they highlight complacency. Learn to suck up info wherever you can 'cos it might just stop you doing the same thing one day. Cheers, Coops (who knows fuck all).

Scirocco - new x-braced main by Skylark
Decodiver replied to frost's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
No, except he has a belly band on. I hadn't seen that Dave thanks for pointing it out. Would that belly band hold him in the harness if he had to cut away and then deploy his reserve? Why not just have a longer chest strap? Cheers, Coops. -
Scirocco - new x-braced main by Skylark
Decodiver replied to frost's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
The guy in the first photo appears to have his chest strap completely undone, is that such a good idea? Cheers, Coops. -
Well it was 782 and 0 until this morning when it became 783 and 1

Taking Up Skydiving in Mid-life
Decodiver replied to Fruitfly's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
That's a great quote. Started 19 months ago at the age of 40. -
I have 2 girls, one will be 5 in May and the other has just turned 14 months. Rosalie-Kitty, the youngest knows what i do, but given her age has no understanding of risk, that's good imho. She already knows both her grandfathers died flying so somewhere she knows things can go wrong at least as much as you can when you're almost 5. She will be doing her first tandem para-glide in May, she likes the idea and it will be with someone she knows already, 'Socks' from the DZ, on the mountain behind our house. She is already on her second season skiing. As for Josephine-Fleur, she has't got a clue, but then neither had I at 14 months or 42 years My wife just thinks I spend too much time skydiving and she's probably right. Not that that will change much.

I have a Vigil II in one of my rigs and a Cypres 2 in the other. I am married with 2 daughters, 1 aged nearly 5 and the other just over 1. I really couldn't argue for one or the other after research. I bought a Cypres and then later got a good deal on a Vigil. I believe both will do what they are designed to do, ie cut the loop, when the time comes. Just my personal thoughts that are worth jack-shit, but can give you an idea of the personal real-estate I have behind my decision and yes I love all 3 of the women in my life, 4 counting my mother and clearly the mother-in-law doesn't count Cheers, Coops.

I cannot give enough praise to Mike's service-chutingstar rocks. Each and every time service has been 1000% including getting canopies to me over the festive season from NZ - Vigil in next to no time etc etc. They get my vote and my money each time. Cheers, Dave Cooper.

Thanks Katie, but a TJNK.5 is a bit larger than a TJNK. Anyone with a TJNK.5 with a XfireII 119 inside? Thanks, Dave.
-
Hi, Does anyone here have a Crossfire 2 119 in a Javelin TJNK.5? If so is it very loose? Thanks, Dave.

I had a similar situation yesterday, but only noticed the floating handle after I pulled on a 2 way after tracking away. A pillow on a Javelin in my case. Couldn't get it back into the velcro between the webbing it was too tense so didn't loosen my chest strap and tucked it behind that so that I could still pull it if I needed to. Did some flat turns and a straight in, guys were wondering why I landed in the middle of the DZ when I was on a back-to-back load. Anyway all's well that ends well, I'll be taking billvon's advice and trying to refit on the ground a few times. Blue Skies, Dave.

Blue Colored Goggle Lenses...Any Opinions ?
Decodiver replied to HoldtheIce's topic in Gear and Rigging
I use blue goggles and only see the blue as I put them on, then they just seem like clear goggles to me, but then I'm Irish so go figure............. -
I like my Javelins - they are well made and the customer service is absolutely first class. The quality is excellent - I also like the look of the Parachutes de France Legend-R, the guys at my DZ who have them are very pleased and again the quality is excellent. I have just acquired my third Javelin (not for long as my first one is up for sale) secondhand, it is 2 years old, has about 800 jumps and is in excellent condition. I would definately buy another one when I need to. Cheers, Coops.

LMFAO, if you ever come to my DZ I'll buy your beer

Have taken a lot of consideration before posting. I ordered a Fuzion late last year received it end of January. Got the cage for the CX12 and the top Zkull was well set up for SLR but not the CX12. Apparently good for 2 audibles, so why did I have to sew a pocket into the liner myself for the second one? Their AFTER sales service is not as good as their pre-sales service.....anyway ordered a Tonfly and sold my Fuzion the day after I received it. Not in the same ball game, my Fuzion showed fissure cracks after a number of no contact jumps, just from putting it down when I took off my rig & I am anal about looking after my kit so go figure. I work in an environment that really demonstrates the interaction between the company & the client. Just ordered a second Tonfly, their customer interaction is first class. Giovanni delivers, on time with great customer service. Just saying it as I see it. Cheers, Coops.

Skydivejack you are spot on here. I did my jump course in the French military in 1986 and you were required to deploy the reserve once you were under the main. In those days the french military reserve did not have a spring-loaded extractor so you pulled the handle, opened the flaps then literally threw out the reserve canopy wiggled it around a little and it opened hey-presto. They introduced spring-loaded extractors in the early 90s but fortunately I only ever used my reserve once in 89 military drops. Cheers, Dave.
