  1. Doug hi, All the advice i have heard says put it on your left eye as you chuck your PC with your right hand, oh and don't forget the nylon screws. Be safe, Coops.
  2. Call Sunpath and ask for Larry, give him the serial # of the rig and he'll advise you the largest size reserve you can get in there safely. Safely being the operative word......................
  3. Can't comment on the Revolve but here are my thoughts on the G2. I have mine since January and have put 145 jumps and 4 hours tunnel time on it. It is so comfortable it is like it is not there, I recently did 16 jumps in a day and spent most of the time with the helmet on all the time during the ride to altitude, landed, swapped rigs went jumping again. The visibility is awesome you can see everything handles, peripheral all good. My instructor in the tunnel likes it so much he's going to buy one for himself moving away from his Factory Diver. You can fit 2 audibles in it, it does not fog up, is comfortable and has great air flow. Comfortable whether flat, sit or head-down. I like mine. Cheers, Coops.
  4. Boogieman or Tonfly both have excellent quality and service in my experience.
  5. I had the same dilemma a couple of years ago with diving, 3000+ dives mostly all technical, instructor trainer on just about every rebreather out there at trimix level and a shed load of expedition dives in excess of 100m. I started to loathe the time I was spending underwater, the money was fabulous and I enjoyed the teaching, it was just that diving sucked! So before I started to show these traits to my students I jacked it in. I don't miss it as I skydive now. I guess what I am saying is take heed of your feelings towards safety day, continue your new day job and fun jump, you can always go back if it doesn't work out. Cheers, Coops.
  6. L&B Optima2 is the dogs bollox and goes into standby mode after a day's jumping, you have to turn the Optima1 off.
  7. Airtwardo good advice thanks. Bearing in mind I generally pull at 950-1000 meters by the time I've looked over my shoulder and ascertained what it is I'm at my hard deck and going silver, if it happened higher on the odd pull I do between 1500 - 2000 I'd probably try the pin.
  8. If it's just a PCIT I may try and pull the pin myself (altitude permitting), if I'm through my hard deck or I can't reach the pin I'm going to reserve straight away. Cheers, Coops.
  9. Here's a link to Prieur's first jump without a chute with Patrick Passe and a rather young Deug. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vB2IT3GhDDo Prieur died on a subsequent jump where he stepped from one glider to another and then slipped without a chute, they got to him in freefall with a chute but only had time to fix one of the clips, the chute was opened and the clip gave way and he fell to his death. This was in 1991.
  10. I'll share my canopy progression with you, not saying it's right but this is what I did. I started skydiving in August 2008 and I am 43 years of age now. I weigh 187lbs out of the door Jump #1 to #30 on a 260sq ft WL = 0.71 Jump #2 to #42 on a 220sq ft WL = 0.85 Jump #43 to #157 on a 210 sq ft WL = 0.89 Jump #158 to #278 on a Storm 190sq ft WL = 0.98 Jump #279 to #563 on a Sabre2 170sq ft WL = 1.10 Jump #564 to #614 on a Sabre 2 150sq ft WL = 1.24 Jump #615 to #737 on a Xfire2 129sq ft WL = 1.44 Jump #738 to #1057 on a Xfire2 119sq ft WL = 1.57 Jump #1058 to #1201 on a Xfire2 109sq ft WL = 1.71 I'll be hanging with the 109 for at least another 500 jumps. Now I'm not saying I'm right, but I changed canopy size each time with the express permission of my DZO and of course I've scared myself a few times. I made sure I could do everything on BillVon's list multiple times before downsizing each time. Just thought this may be some useful numbers for you. Cheers.
  11. When someone starts to become dangerous it is already too late.........it is at that point exactly where they could kill some poor innocent skydiver who was doing everything by the book with kids etc.........
  12. Very funny especially the part where he's talking about using the rears.......
  13. if you backfly no big deal....also helpful in rain etc.... or place your face parallel to the ground not at an angle, at an angle you get more wind in your face or at least it feels that way, looking straight down it's doable. Cheers, Coops.
  14. Tony Blair is a liar and an arrogant cheat. He'll soon be forgotten. That will be the best punishment, though I do like the idea of him rotting in a cell somewhere being someone else's bitch this time.......................................
  15. This world will be a less interesting place with his passing. This world become a much safer place with his living. Godspeed Major Winters and thank you.........
  16. I live in France and buy most of my gear and all my canopies through Chuting Star. In fact I've bought 6 Crossfire 2s from them this year. First-class efficiency & great customer service. Dave Cooper.
  17. This is the only method I use and works great - makes sense and works. Cheers, Coops
  18. I have a pal with no rides in 7000+ jumps - I have 2 reserve rides in 1000+ Cheers, Coops
  19. Just ordered mine from Mike at ChutingStar......got a second tinted visor too......thing looks awesome and will be ideal for freeflying................
  20. Just thought I'd share it with you all, I did my 1000th jump today I decided to do a tandem with a friend who will celebrate his 50th year of skydiving next year, with his 19,000 jumps I was in good hands, watching my buddies freefly around, slap my face and try and steal my sneakers............cool Life is good. Incidentally his son took me on one of his qualifying tandem jumps a couple of months back....like father like son. Cheers, Coops.
  21. At my DZ if you don't have a cutaway and want to jump a Go-Pro or any other camera/video you can't. Simple. Cheers, Coops.
  22. Bet those were the nicest openings in your life! You bet, out the door, line stretch, swing, impact
