  1. Hey, thanks everybody for the input. It was very informative and I can't wait to try out some of all of your techniques. I am pretty sure that this info will put a stop to the madness!! Thanks again. Hey Steve, how the freakin' hell are ya? No, I have not ventured into the tiny Xaos's recently, but would love to do it again, what a trip. Thanks to you again, as well. How is the weather there? "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"
  2. Ok, I know that the questions for canopies is getting well used, but I feel this is THE place to receive any help with this. Here is my question. I have recently decided to go back to my "trusty Spinetto" for BM jumps. I have just got it back from PD with a new line set and Slider so it is opening beautifully. So, my question is to all of those utilizing Stiletto's at a wing loading of 2.0:1. Is there anything that I can do short of perfecting my body position on deployment to avoid spinners. My only two mal's in over 1300 jumps have been line twist on ellipticals, one Cobalt and the other Stiletto w/ BM suit on. So, if there is anything that any of you are doing extra to avoid this problem, I would appreciate any advise! I know that this may be a stupid question, but I want to be sure and avoid having to climb up a freakin' tree to recover my Main or Freebag again. (*Don't mind the Mals, they are kinda fun. Ha Ha) Oh, and if it any difference at all, I psycho pack the Stiletto now and it is treating me ok, but I have yet to get on the BM due to excessively cold weather, I'm a wuss, I know!! 3. As luck would have it, they have cancelled the Cessna-way, so being the poor, unfortunate person that I am, I will not be able to make my way down there now. Thanks for all that have responded and maybe I can make it down there soon to do some flocking. Of course, you guys are more than welcome up here though. Cold weather be damned!!! "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"
  4. Excellent, thanks! Can't wait, I'm "Jonesin' " bigtime! "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"
  5. Hey guys, our dz is supplying one of the cessna's for the 50-100 ways in Zhills january 19-21. Are any of you guys/gals going to be there for the event and not participating, I am flying down with the plane and would like to get some flockin' done while I am there. I am not going to be in the RW-ways and thought since I am heading to some warm weather, I would do some flockin'. If anybody will be there, please let me know so I can look them up when I arrive! "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"
  6. I was one of the "Horribly Unfortunate" ones to have purchased one of the "Bad" Cobalts that Kevin Speaks of. it was a Cobalt 95 and it started out ok, but then turned nightmarish after about 70 jumps, I then went to Spinetto, I mean, Stiletto, had my first Birdman Mal, now I jump a Safire 99 loaded at 2.0:1 and it is awesome. Line twist don't matter, still straight and true. Soft every time once I figured out the Psycho pack. I would definitely place that canopy on your "Demo" list. Hope this helps. "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"
  7. I'd be interested in purchasing one when the time comes! Let me know. "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"
  8. Yeah, what Tom said. Cazer has the best ones! Get it to you really quick too. "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"
  9. I am currently jumping a Safire loaded at 2.0:1 and have the best openings. I have jumped the Stiletto and the Cobalt with great success as well, but as you know, the Stiletto's are known to "twist up" on ya and it did just that for my first BM Mal. And as far as the Cobalt, well, I have had some bad luck with hard openings on those that Atair could not explain and I couldn't remedy so I no longer utilize the Cobalt, but everyone has different opinions on those anyway. As long as you are opening at a good alti, you have plenty of time to deal with the problems. I honestly believe that the spinner on the Stiletto was due to not having the Mod's on the container like I should have had. BUT, going with what Chuck said is never a bad idea! Wanted to include my experiences anyway! Mine are blue and long, how are yours? "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"
  10. Jumper03, sorry dude, didn't know that you used tweek also. let me know if it is a problem. LOL. Tweek on!!! "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"
  11. I, too, have some shouilder problems, but I have started working at the gym just on my shoulders and chest, (*follow the excersise program on www.flybirdman.com, and it will help considerably) and it has really made a difference. like someone has said earlier in the post, that 5 is about the limit for me in a day. When I get under canopy, I am breathing heavy but it is all worth it. Flock long, my brother! "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"
  12. That is why they have banks, Yard Sales and child labor for, dude. I have found that an 8 year old brings a fair price these days. At least enough for the GTi model. (*My 5 year old is just hoping that I don't get an itch for an S-3) "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"
  13. Damn, Superwoman, you beat me to it. Still to this day, it is THE BEST video I have ever seen. Rock on man, you have bigger "mommy-Daddy buttons" than I will ever have!!! "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"
  14. That picture is deceiving because he has one leg folded back slightly. However, the SF leg wing is substantially smaller stance(width) wise than the SF3. Length on the SF3 leg wing is only slightly longer than the SF. Enjoy the cough syrup Yeah, that is what I figured out after a short spell of stupidity. Sorry about that. I know, I'm a moron. "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"
  15. Ok, I kinda feel stupid now, I went back and looked at the pics, and I see where it is the "STITCHING" that he wanted us to look at. I think if the suit was laid out differently you could see that the wing is a little bigger than first noticed! Correct me if I am wrong. Sorry dudes, I'm a little messed up on Cough Syrup right now! "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"
  16. I have an S-1, and there is no way that my leg wing is that small. I did place it up to a new S-3 and it was not that drastic, maybe it was the pic that deceives this or maybe it wasn't what we were supposed to be looking at, but the big difference in mine and the S-3 is that the leg wing is "Longer" and maybe a scotche wider. Hmm, am curious to know what is going on with that. Like I have said in the previous posts, I have the Yellow and white Skyflyer that is pictured on the Birdman website labeled "Skyflyer in flight". Can anyone explain this ? "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"
  17. Umm, basically what he said! 1. I've got mine down to the low to mid 50mph range. 2. Not sure how fast, but, A long freakin' way now that I have figured out my Skyflyer! 3. Best one to date from 13,000 down to 5,000---2 min, 48 secs 4. YOU CAN FALL STRAIGHT DOWN WITH THESE THINGS? 5. YOU CAN FALL STRAIGHT DOWN WITH THESE THINGS? 6. bird-man.com and flybirdman.com 7. Ain't no tellin', hell, I didn't ever think I would be able to fly like I am with my Wingsuit, so I really couldn't say where they are going next!!! 8. What is RW? Umm, I would say a tad bit more dangerous than FF, but like my predecessor says, depends on the suit you choose! 9. Don't BASE jump, so I cannot comment on that! 10. Hmm, any information that you have failed to mention, well, lets just say that if you have ever dreamed of flying when you were a kid, (*Or a big kid like most of us) then this is the shit. Nothing compares to it. And as the "Warning" label on the suit says, It is very addicting. Probably more addicting than, umm, well, you know. "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"
  18. I started out with about 30 jumps on a GTi, then went to an originaly Skyflyer. I had someone tell me recently that flying the S-3 was easier than the Skyflyer, something about the leg wings on the S-3 were bigger, in effect causing more stability. Am anxious to see if that is true. But it took several jumps on the Skyflyer to get used to it after feeling pretty confident on the GTi. "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"
  19. Hmm, lets see, my first BM jump came at jump #860, A friend that owned a GTi approached me as I was leaving the DZ and asked me if I wanted to try it out and I graciously accepted. I had no instruction aside from him saying "When you are ready to pull, just go into a really fast track and dump pulling both arms in." As I was going up to altitude, you couldn't have pulled a needle out of my ass with a tractor, the pucker factor was huge. The exit went well, the flght went well, but the deployment, surprisingly enough, wasn't bad at all. So when I got down to the ground, (*After breakin' his arm zipper) I was pretty much hooked, so the next day, I ordered my very own GTi. I put about 30 or so jumps on it and began having canopy issues so I sold it. But it didn't take long to crave the feeling of flight again, so I traded a dude out in California a canopy for a Skyflyer, and the rest is history. I am not very proud of how I came across this new addiction. I strongly urge people to get proper instruction before attempting a WS jump. It could have been a lot worse than it was, but thankfully, I made it out ok. Once I talked to someone about how to actually handle these suits, it went a lot better for me. "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"
  20. Not being an ass or anything, but if you are working on getting to 500 jumps, you really haven't experienced everything there is to experience anyway. I have done an equal amount of RW, Freefly, Video, and freestyle jumps, and nothing compares to the experience of "Actual Unassisted Human Flight" that you get from a Wingsuit. Trust me, once you get "of age" to try the wingsuit, there will be no turning back, there wasn't for me. It is all I can think of. You have not lived until you have exited a plane, and "LOOKED DOWN AT THE TAIL" of the very aircraft that you just exited! It is truly "Airgasmic"... Peace, Out! "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"
  21. Oh sure, you'll go down there, but you won't come see us!!!! I'm jealous!!! "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"
  22. Well, I guess I will wear my helmet from now on. You guys brought up some really good points. Thanks. "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"
  23. I personally wear a helmet only in the winter for obvious reasons. And to think that I was on a dive 2 years ago where our videoman crashed down on us and his hip bone went right in the back of my head. Not sure if I was completely out or not, but there is about 4,000 feet of that dive that I don't remember, didn't have a Cypres either. But you can bet that I ordered one the next day. Had it for about 6 months then sold it to jump more. (*Might want to refer back to the "Shallow end of the Gene Pool" comment) So, with that said, In the summer, I jump without a helmet, cypres and RSL. But I have a good feeling that is going to change this year. Going to wear a helmet anyway! I'm not sure if this helped anyone or not, but felt like I should let others know that there are stupid people like me out there, so every safety precaution should be taken!!! Cheers! "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"
  24. absolutely, my quest involves getting the most Birdpeople I can at our DZ, Tired of fallin' fast and straight, who wants to soar? "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"
  25. That is a very valid point, DaMan! Never would have thought of that! But, who am I to say anything, I come from the shallow end of the Gene Pool. "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"
