    Math help?

Hmmm. I simplified it (if my math is right) to hx=0
  2. Frosted and CHOCOLATE is the way to go. Chocolate - mmmmmmm
  3. Hey I'm winning - guess its all that CRW! - 15 in 4000 jumps W
  4. Cool! Thanks for pointing that out! I had no idea! W
  5. You should do more CRW!
  6. There's a beautiful dropzone in Locarno, Switzerland (Skydive Locarno) which is in the middle of the Swiss Alps. Its about an hour train ride north of Milan - most gorgeous place I've ever jumped. W
  7. This video was snarfed from the cfworldrecord.com homepage I think....
  8. Exactly. 7 cells are normally much more stable in turbulence than a typical 9 cell...
  9. My student logbook: http://crwdog.servebeer.com/skydive/howcrw.html I was too stubborn to quit :-) Wen
  10. Quote However the cell sometimes flies behind his body and the canopy turns sharply to the right. Is there any way to minimise this turn? Its hard to keep it there and I usually end up with my centre cell near his torso. Any one have ideas on how to prevent or stop that happening? --- The key here is to dock to the outside - I always try hard to keep my canopy outside of his body so he has to stretch his leg to catch the line. I also try to "swing" my canopy as I get there - almost sorta of doing an outside turn as I get there to lift teh inside corner of the canopy up and stop the slide to the inside. Does that make sense? ----------- 2. When actually flying the side step the bottom flyer has to trim out with opposite riser. Otherwise we are finding the canopy wants to come up over the person on top. Obviously in comp you wont be holding the point for too long but I figure the point should be able to be flown without too much tension. Any ideas? ---------- I've found that even under my small slow canopy, on a 2-way just by holding brakes as pilot I can keep even the biggest of canopies from having to hold trim. If the pilot is in full flight you'll practically always have to have trim Is your top guy in brakes - he can really control everything on a 2-way. ------------ 2.1) When releasing the sidestep the increased tension is causing me to get flung off because I am risering. ----- If you still have to riser if the pilot holds brakes, you should be able to get away with very little. The key is to be watching carefully, and as soon as the pilots leg starts to come loose, drop the riser and hit a touch of brakes to control your canopy. ------- 3. Now we have well matched canopies and im finding it a lot harder to catch him. I think I have to make the inputs closer rather than swinging out too far and then back in. Any thoughts or special techniques for moving closer/quicker. ---- The better matched you are the harder it is to dock - that is for sure. I find that the pilot holding quarter brakes makes all the difference in the world. It slows him down just enough without giving him a ton of float that he is easier to catch. On a 2-way, I never _hold_ my front risers. I might "bump" them to lose some altitude, but if I hold them, I'll go low every night. I usually switch from bumping fronts to holding rears part way through the sashay to maintain my altitude... I'm sure there are other methods as well, but these are what work for me. W
  11. Actually I agree with everything else you wrote, but not this one :-) There have been copies of OSX x86 out there for a while now (not Apple promoted but they're out there.) Several co-workers and I have been running it for a good while now, and I gotta say, it seriously smokes Linux on the Dell box. Its very nice and very fast. I have no actual need to upgrade my home Imac or my laptop iBook, but I really want to - especially now! Wen (had an apple in the house continually since '77).
  12. Here's a picture of a Woomera - couldn't make the attachment small enough to put here: http://crwdog.servebeer.com/AussieCover.jpg The picture is a little dark, but you can see yellow cutaway handle on the left (somewhat obscured by his jacket) and the blue thing just below the 3-ring on his left is his pullout handle. w
  13. A friend of mine years ago was a JM for a level 6 or level 7 AFF. He must have snagged his bag on the Cessna, cuz right after they left his bag comes out. He waves off from the student, and tosses his pc. Nothing happens. So he freefalls belly to earth watching his student (from a reasonable distance away) and then does emergency procedures after that. He said the only thing he felt was a bit of a backslide.... W
  14. I play that all the time. I think my best time was something like 2:37 - I typically score in at 3something...
  15. People have periodic beginner camps around the country, and I suspect they wouldn't mind if you sat in on the lecture part of it if you wanted to. In the meantime, I have a bunch of beginner CRW material on my website: http://crwdog.servebeer.com which might make for some reading in the meantime. CRW really isn't a big enough discipline to have anyone doing courses full-time or anything like a lot of the canopy control courses. But you should give it a try! You'll learn a lot..
  16. That's actually what I sound like :-) I know it but can't help it :-)
  17. A buddy I work with had done airborne school and they decided they wanted to freefall. They borrowed rigs from somewhere and I think jumped some sort of military aircraft. He did like 5 solo freefalls - and I know he's telling the truth cuz he describes spinning, tumbling, lines going through his legs and brutal openings :-) W
  18. He was actually wearing a camera on his foot if I remember correctly. Definitely facing forward though! He was on the 70-way record 2 years ago - we missed him being a part of it but at least he took nice pics! W
  19. Listening to myself talk I cringe and figure I should stick to writing. I'm much more articulate that way! I was at least thankful that they called me in at the last minute so that none of the Dog's had a chance to write in with questions - I figure that coulda been ugly :-) W
  20. Yah I saw her a few times - she's a Rhinestone Cowgirl... Saw the girl I dressed up as cheering on the sidelines..
  21. I am! Course I'm also looking for myself in the audience since I go to every match! Its fantastic stuff! Wen
  22. I like landing off too :-) Its fun to meet new neighbors! Heck - last time I was in Perris Valley I landed off 4 times in one day chasing gear - I became good friends with the pickup guy.... Heck - 2 of our last 3 CRW records we haven't landed anywhere near the airport :-) The world is our dropzone! W
  23. Back in '97 for the Women's CRW record, our video guy jumped with a small satellite dish on his leg and we were broadcast live setting a record on a LA morning tv show - was quite cool! W
  24. Oh yeah - there is lots of CRW happening in Florida and California - though its probably easiest to contact some of the guys ahead of time if you're looking for folks to jump with. I do a lot of CRW in central Texas, but my home dz just closed and I haven't quite figured out where I'm going to wander too yet... W
