A great effort, but is this effective? I think that this is all well and good for the people that find this site, but there are masses that won't. A lot of people in America are much more technologically advanced, but there are tons of people who are not. I study international relations and political science, and this does not seem very effective to me. By the way, what happens when a person registers? Do they investigate that person to make sure they are not a terrorist? How can they be sure that a terrorist doesn't sign up for this just to avoid being pestered by the government? That is quite a bit to think about. I realize that I am too uneducated about the sport for my own good. I finished student status when the season ended. I have not been jumping since then, and have devoted my time to doing things like this--asking questions, doing site searches, checking out products, and talking with my dz owner before any purchases. I do know the function of an aad, I was not aware that I needed to know the intricacies(spelling way off) of how it works. That will definately be something I look into. I know that it is mostly my fault for not asking questions when I had the chance, but have you ever been so overwhelmed with so much information that you decided to let it sink in first before you started asking those endless questions (which is the stage I am currently in). I do talk with people from my dz, but I did my training in basically three months. THey are a welcoming crowd, but I felt more comfortable asking the head honcho the safety questions. I didn't know the experience levels of anyone yet. And then we get back to--how will I ever find out if I don't ask. So, here I am.. I know there is a new mainstream issue that bothers experienced jumpers, but I jump because I love it, not because it is becoming popular--and (ask my whuffo's) I spend every extra minute trying to understand and learn new things about the safety precautions I must take to SAFELY enjoy this sport. I am probably making excuses here, but I felt compelled to respond. Thankyou for caring. Mary The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. JUMP.

that is the ultimate goal. In order to sustain myself financially (yah right), I must do this at a slower pace seeing how I don't want to throw away four years of a so called college education. yipee! The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. JUMP.

I am a newbie all together. 24 jumps under my jumpsuit. I pull around 4, sometimes 3,5. I am still going to have someone watch me, so I don't screw anything up- or accidentally tie a knot in my lines. don't worry, I'm kidding. I think my first jump on the canopy will be done by a packer. The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. JUMP.

sebazz, I hope that I don't lose contact with my whuffos, they are fun whuffos, but skydiving is important to me, and they REALLY cannot handle me talking about it. They will never understand-just like you said. I am thinking about moving to a place where I can jump more, and have more friends who skydive. not formally. I believe someone told me to stay away from him after I posted the first time. I'm guessing this won't be surprising to you. The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. JUMP.

Do I have that many? It sucked me in!! I have been surrounded this winter by only WHUFFOs...that can be a stress on me and them. I was quite relieved to find this place... I get to let some steam off. Now, if you don't mind I think I will go search some sites that I can buy more skydiving things on and max out my credit card (again). yay! more stuff! Thanks, I think I will definately have some supervision packing. I just hope they're patient. I have been practicing(one of the measures of sanity I have taken for the winter), but there are so many sneaky lines that I just don't want to cross over. I just learned how to pack (I just got my first rig). I am kind of nervous to jump my own packing, and haven't even gotten a chance to jump my rig yet. Am I being a wuss? I would think it would be better to have my rig packed for me the first few jumps... The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. JUMP.

I'm guessing..hmm. controversial maybe?? The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. JUMP.

I think you had a very valid point. I took a bit of heat for just asking the question in the first place. Do a lot of people jump w/out aad's? The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. JUMP.
