$200 bucks ??? try $399 in Australia I conceed some DZs will give you a second on the same day ONLY for $210 (which they say is below cost price) I doubt if the cost structures are $200 per jump difference in both countries. The word profiteering comes to mind.. not much competition either. First jump AFF course $570

Is a tandem really a $440 value?
gregpso replied to skymama's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
In Australia we pay $399 for a tandem.. no extras Camera add $120 $199 for a tandem bring it on. I tend to be a bit different. enjoyed my time in the sport or is it an industry these days ?? -
Yeah I briefly went to another Victorian Drop zone (Bridgewater) and noticed a big difference. FOR THE BETTER I tend to be a bit different. enjoyed my time in the sport or is it an industry these days ??

On the contrary A Victorian drop zone I REGULARLY WENT TO drove me away from jumping cause they did not like new jumpers researching equipment. NO one ever asked me to stay around after jumping I think they were glad to see me go. I am sure their is a brotherhood AND SISTERHOOD (NOTE KGB AND GOLDEN BROWN) but I never experienced it.. in fact the reverse I tend to be a bit different. enjoyed my time in the sport or is it an industry these days ??

Its a real dilema this gun question. (In Australia no one is allowed to carry hanguns except Police/security. ) I started the post as I knew folk must have been carrying at WDW due to lack of searches I experienced there. (bag searches only) There is argument for and against! I mean if some whacko started shooting there I would be grateful if a normal citizen shot him before he could do much damage BUT if the vast majority of normal folk have guns so do the whackos. So in Aust no one has them. (sure a few crims do manage to get them but handgun crime is almost non existent very rare) However I would fell safer travelling on public transport at night "carrying" or being in the middle of no where carrying. BUT not an option here. Can see both sides of the argument. Foot note never felt unsafe at WDW as I am sure there is convert security there. In fact never saw any aggro at all except parents telling off kids. What a wonderful place and i will return. (and quite cheap really) I tend to be a bit different. enjoyed my time in the sport or is it an industry these days ??

Buying a concealed handgun for normal citizens?? In Australia we cannot even have a shotgun at home for self defence. If you belong to a clay target club etc you can get one but if you apply for a gun licence and say its for self defence. YOu are instantly told NO!! Even self defence reason for carry a knife and you are arrested. I would like a gun at home and in my car for self defence but the trouble is if every one does that the violence goes through the roof as is the USA experience. Highest gun murders per head of population . So are you really safe with you all carrying guns. Interesting !!@ I tend to be a bit different. enjoyed my time in the sport or is it an industry these days ??

Yeah us ausies know about naked woman. In the lame ole USA even at vegas they only go topless at the adul shows. At the passion pit in the casinos the dancrs are clothed. BOO !!! LAME or what. Over here in the liberated Aus we can see maps of tasmamia any time we want (hotels etc) PS maps of tasmania is slang for female pubic hair which is shaped like a one of our states (tasmania) I tend to be a bit different. enjoyed my time in the sport or is it an industry these days ??

For a dare 3 of my mates did static line in 1981 I was the most reluctant.. you guessed they left I stayed for a while did 40 jumps/ came back in 2008 did a few tandems then 5 AFFS. Now total of 66 jumps. Got banned at my drop zone from continuing aff AS THE CI thought I posted to much on the aussie forums. (safety and gear ) So spend $6000 and then stabbed in the back (banned from AFF despite no problems with my AFF) Sort of wonder why I bothered coming back really. (Yeah I am hurt by it) I tend to be a bit different. enjoyed my time in the sport or is it an industry these days ??

I agree a lot of the occuppy Wall St stuff is looney left but.. How do you good folk in the USA allow such low minimum wages. I was at Walt Disney World last year and dicovered the cleaning and service staff get around $6 per hour. How can any one live on that ? (yes I tipped everyday) Its time the rich folk there paid their fair share of income tax like 40 per cent tax after the first $120 000 . It works fine here in Aus and our budget deft/surplus is just fine by international standards Of course every employer over there pays 9 percent into workers superannuations funds every month don't they . If they do not why ?? we do we afford it (Employers complained when first came in in 1985 but its a non issue now) I love the USA and its people and love visiting but I would not want to be an average worker I see it as the haves and have nots over there and the haves do not care about the have nots !! AND THE HAVE NOTS ARE BECOMING MORE ALL THE TIME !!! The aussie dollar is around 98 cents USA at present ( and will be higher again soon when Euro debt crisis is sorted out) so we are going fine in looking after the have nots way better than you but of course thats Socialism is it not !! My 20 cents worth .. plus tax (why on earth do you not include the tax on the price of things .. plus tax give me a break !!!! ) I tend to be a bit different. enjoyed my time in the sport or is it an industry these days ??

How does your country allow such terrible wages. In socialist Australia (in your eyes) the minimum wage is around $11 per hour. Hence no tipping unless outstanding service. When i ws in vegas last year i went along with it. Arrived hotel tiped $10 for bags out of taxi then another $6 when bags delivered to room then 25 per cent of the meal and on it went I tend to be a bit different. enjoyed my time in the sport or is it an industry these days ??

finally the USA gets health care for all.. hopefully
gregpso replied to gregpso's topic in Speakers Corner
The aussie dollar is now worth $1.07 US and we still have health cover for all !!!! Great place to visit for a holiday (USA) and lovely people but would hate to live there unless I was rich. No compulsory Superannuation... (employer pays 9 per cent of your salary into super) no long service leave (thats 3 months leave after 10 years service) and I would not get my 9 weeks annual leave and $68 000 per year for a 38 hour week.(looking at security cameras for Govt buildings mainly) How do you folk put with such an imbalance of wealth (the haves have 90 per cent and the other 90 per cent have wants left. Socialism I hear you say !!! well if thats Socialism get it to me. PS I do like the USA and the people really!!! However do not get me started on the gratutity thing (very annoying as a tourist) I tend to be a bit different. enjoyed my time in the sport or is it an industry these days ?? -
Prob buget at least another $500 for 2 repeats. (may not be needed but better to have just in case) What I have gathered is not too many go thru without at least one repeat (repeats $250 or $195 if only need one aff instructor) then there is the 5 to 7 thousand for a rig once you get the A licence (they encourage you to get your own if you can) Anyway many fun times ahead for you. Enjoy I tend to be a bit different. enjoyed my time in the sport or is it an industry these days ??

Plus the money for repeats and a few dvds of the jumps. You got to have a dvd of your first solo !! I tend to be a bit different. enjoyed my time in the sport or is it an industry these days ??

Sorry cannot recognise the TM (who is it ??) I have jumped with WOKKA numerous times.. Barts Tibbets. The AFF course is great there you will have a ball.(I did) My only claim to fame is I think I hold the record there for the most tandem passenger jumps pretty pathetic really... but for reasons best kept secret I am doomed to only do tandooms. Anyway I love seeing and meeting new jumpers at naggas as it takes them a while to work out that I am an idiot !! (thats my reputation in the Ausssie skydiving forum skysurfer.com.au) Enjoy your jumps may see you there. I am the bloke who looks likes like Tom Cruise (NOT!!) I am the 53 year old bald bloke putting on the tandem harness AGAIN!!! HAVE A BLAST !!! keep posting updates!!!! Looks like skydive Nagambie to me. I have done 19 tandems there (also did 3 AFFs but thats another story) I do the odd tandem (usually every 3 months) Yeah its pricey all right but fun. do your A as soon as you can (not like me) At 19 tandems I am a laughing stock but I do not care. Its fun. I may see you at Nagambie some time good luck with it all Greg W Quote I tend to be a bit different. enjoyed my time in the sport or is it an industry these days ??
