  1. Old school style I wear a chest mount and my hook knife is tacked to the back handle down against my body. Against my sternum that doesn't bend so no issue with that, keeps my chest mount pillow from flipping up and the alt. pillow holds knife steady. Always there because I always wear my chest mount alt. And.moves from rig.to rig. The pouch that comes with some/most (especially the paragear jack the ripper pouch) of them are inadequate. A custom pouch will keep it in place on a chest strap or elsewhere. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
  2. Okay. Realize that isn't a half inch gap it was pulled through it was the width of the mud flap up behind your altimeter mount. It has that whole width under the three ring to come out. I'm trying to figure out a way that altimeter mount did something. Still thinking. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

  4. Rather than being pulled though the gap between the mud flap and the yoke it could have been pulled from the other side, pulled far enough to clear the mudflap, then rebounded, fell, was pushed, whatever back to the left and didn't reenter the mudflap. Look on top or the other side for something pulling on the housing. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
  5. Well, if you want to be a Strong Tandem Master you might have to. That's Strong's intentional cutaway rig. Has handles set up to mimic Dual Hawk Tandem rig. Fun to jump and absolutely no issue with three ring. Every jump is a cutaway! I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

  7. Need to better define what your asking. ZP IS ripstop. Ripstop is a type of weave with stronger threads woven into the material. If you mean PIA-C-44378 type IV spec 0-3 cfm material, (i.e. exacta chute or F-111) as a patch on zp you can but not much reason to not patch it with ZP. If you mean ripstop tape, which is ripstop nylon with adhesive you can try. It fell out of use by most folks, maybe because we learned how to sew a patch easier. I haven't tried it but it likely won't stick very well to th coating. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
  8. I haven't sewn with one but gets good reviews. But I'd suggest putting the money with.some.more and getting a true commercial machine on a table with knee lifter and separate motor. I just sold equivalent quality zig zag necchi on table for $250. If you look hard a tan or singer 20u can be had for $400. A Pfaff 238 for $500. And lots if newer straight stitch only like the 201 but real industrial.machines for similar prices. Also lots.of time machine at thrift shops have been donated and have function issues. 9. I can't think of ever feeling any. I've known of broken ribs, broken femurs, bused biceps and legs (of course), whiplash, even broken neck (RIP Mike), but never a broken clavicle. Whats to put stress on it? Chest strap is lower, MLW are usually outside, and load is transmitted to legs. I'm not a doctor but if you can do push ups I'd think your good to go. I'm old for my age. 11. I fully support the idea of you pulling your reserve when its time for a repack. And it's great you got it on video. But this is why you should do it in front of your rigger. You may want to have a different rigger look at it. That PC seemed to be very securely captured. Hopefully it still is. But being that solid makes me think a rigger error but I can't quite sort it out. Unless they put the PC under the first flap instead of on top. Then what Lee said about the molar bag would apply. The side flaps are not capturing the PC. Here is another example but was captured by the side flaps but for different reason. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d39xqpKPX_w This was due to the steel flingers in the side flaps of the Quasar. This was done in front of a rigger (me) and the video is the second time it did it. This resulted in the Quasar recall 6 years ago. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
  12. Read this http://www.chutingstar.com/more/skydive/expert-advice/53-russian-toggle-system-secure The Russian toggles have TWO downward facing tabs.and.an upward facing straight.pin. The one possible issue I see with these just looking at the photos is if someone set them with the cat eye or loop around the toggle BELOW the.eye.on the past in. If possible and I'm not sure it is this might make.the brake impossible to release under tension. Need to ask Mike. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
  13. (shaking head) Look in the manual! There are pictures. And again, you guys really need to do your own searching. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwoOtTTebW4 http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4582058;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread I saw one once. Was showed how it worked. And don't remember much of anything. It uses hydraulics to resist the opening of the canopy with a line wrapped around it. When forces overcome hydraulic force it releases to allow the canopy to open. And anyone can correct me. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
  14. We wear parachutes on our backs. That's our protection. I don't know of anyone who wears anything more than maybe an elastic back brace. Others may know of something. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
  15. Oh, and there are hydraulic reefing systems around. May or may not be sale. Try Jerry Baumchen on here for a lead and call Ralph at Western Parachute Sales. I know I saw one in the last year, some showed it to me.. Hmmm, actually I think.someone had it at the PIA symposium. Also contact Riggerlee on here. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
  16. People on here really need to learn how to look for themselves. http://www.ukskydiver.co.uk/cms/files/file/1977-volplane-manualpdf/ I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
  17. Find a PERSON! A lot more effective than trying to learn from a video. Unless everyone at your dropzone is less than 50 someone knows how to pack a PC. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
  18. Parachute labs (jump shack), Strong enterprises, and Aerosports USA have all made custom ripcords for me in the past. They may or may not have the specs for your rig. You may need to supply overall length, pin spacing, and handle type as well as rig.it's going into I also have a bunch of old ripcords and may have what you need. But I would need the same information. I do have a ripcord tester and could test an old one. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
  19. The appropriate response is "What parachute?" Yes it's not a PC. Who cares?
  20. And Starlight is here. One is reserve and one is main. http://www.ukskydiver.co.uk/cms/files/category/311-manuals/?sort_order=ASC&sort_key=file_name&num=20&filter_key=all&st=40 I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

  22. Okay, I thought this was a Para-Commander but hadn't looked at the parachute much. But still a very good reference for packing a round. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UqWTXeNKiyw#t=00m14s I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

  25. Remember, a senior rigger may only have 1 or 2 hours on a sewing machine. Just enough to learn how to sew a square patch on swatches of material on someone else's sewing machine. And I agree. You don't cut up your only jumpsuit because your hot. A short sleeved jumpsuit is called a t-shirt. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
