  1. Enrico Fermi designed guns as well as the world's first nuclear reactor? Wow, I didn't know that. I hate posting with an IPhone. I can't get used to these little keyboards and the auto-correct feature.
  2. Okay, but AK47's are called assault weapons, and someone here is saying that assault weapons are full-automatic, and the "A" in "AK47" stands for automatic. So an automatic AK47 is not the same as a semi-auto hunting rifle. Therefore, banning them as "too dangerous" can still be justifed based upon that difference. Do hunting rifles have 30-round magazines for sustained fire? I thought most states limit hunting magazine capacity to just 5 rounds? I don't know how many times we are going to have to tell gun-o-phobes that fully automatic weapons are mostly illegal. That means most of them are semi-automatic. Do you understand the differences? If not, I would suggest some education before continuing to embarrass yourself. In addition, guns are like cars, everybody has their favorites. I have an AK. It's ok, but its certainly not my favorite weapon. I prefer an AR-15. I also have a Glock 23. Again, not my favorite. What part of the 2nd Amendment do you need explained to you? How about the part that says the people's right to own and bear arms shall not be infringed? What part of that are you having the biggest challenge with?
  3. I haven't defended Akin. I think he's an ass. There a few others I have the same opinion on. Oh, that's right, I forgot the template that all conservatives believe ( fill in blank).
  4. Shelia Jackson Lee: But, she does have a 100% perfect pro-choice voting record. We have ours, but you have yours.
  5. I give Obama lots of credit for taking it to Al Qaeda. It's one of the few things he's done well.
  6. Or they are further left than he is which is more likely given the extremism in the Democrat Party these days. Ted Kennedy looks conservative by comparison.
  7. Hopefully they are representing the views of their constituents. Ignorance is not measured that way. If a majority said that the world is flat, would that make it flat? Walsh, Akin, and indeed Ryan, are scientifically illiterate. A trait that seems to be shared by some of the conservative posters on here. You asked which party most of it comes from. Apparently living and working in a big city has the effect of giving a distorted view of "those people". The cure would be to get ones head out of the clouds and drive down a few baskstreets. One might discover a world they never knew existed. It seems that you can't tell the difference between gross ignorance of science/medicine and having an opinion on social policy. Not surprising that you are conservative, you fit right in. And it seems you are incapable of seeing that they are tied together. Not surprising you are a liberal, you fit right in.

  9. Pretty sure the term originates with Nazis in WWII. This is not me calling you a Nazi, just being factual. Sure it is. Either that or you were just hard-pressed to find another way to say the first thing that popped into your head. No worries, I've been called worse. It's the etymology of the phrase. Simple fact. I can't help that. Godwin would be pleased.

  12. So, then . . . "Assault Weapons" . . . are in fact different than hunting rifles. And since they are -specifically- designed for the purpose of killing human combatants they have no business in the hands of the vast majority of people. Thanks. Assault Weapons as gun-o-phobes like to call them are very good"tool for personal protection. If the threats of violence and rioting coming from the left wingers if Obama loses are carried out, an "assault weapon" could be a very valuable tool.
  13. In the south we use them to hunt hogs. Couldn't you use something else to hunt hogs instead? I don't think you understand the hog infestation or the people that hunt them. Out in Texas they use helicopters with virtual target sighting and remote control firing mechanisms. That is sort of like a gunship. Careful, you will send the anti-gun nuts into cardiac arrest.
  14. If they're prohibited then there's nothing to regulate. If they're regulated, that implies that you can own them, but they're just tightly controlled. So those two things sound a bit contradictory. Which is it? I see people on TV shows shooting machine guns, so they must not be prohibited completely... You do realize the guns they use on TV aren't real guns, don't you?
  15. So maybe then we should ban small handguns. According to the FBI, violent crime went up 18% last year. Seems like a good time to do it. Yeah, that will solve the problem. Lets make crack cocaine illegal too. Oh, wait !!
  16. How many kids successfully defend themselves from a bad guy with a gun, compared to how many kids are accidentally shot and killed with guns each year? The Brady campaign says that 2,200 children are accidentally injured or killed by a handgun each year. They couldn't do that if adults would lock up their guns. Does the Brady Campaign say how many times a child pulled the trigger?
  17. This is just more of the "lets force everyone to live in a Police State so we can micro manage every aspect of everyone's life" bullshit. People, especially children have accidents and sometimes die. It's always been like that and it always will be. The more people depend on government to regulate their lives, the more irresponsible they will get.
  18. Of course I'm glad the girl is alive, but your argument is based on emotion. Damn, my comments have been short enough thus far--the least you could do is read them before replying. What part of saying that parents are capable of teaching and kids are capable of learning proper handling of firearms is emotional? Even before I was 12 I knew where my dad kept the 1911 and I knew how to use it. You know what happened? Nothing. So whose argument gets shot to shit just by that example? Not mine. I think the greater good is that no child should ever be left alone with a loaded gun. Viva la difference. Why not? My dad taught me to shoot when I was 8 years old. I had my first rifle when I was. 10. I've never shot anyone. Never had an accident either. If parents would take the time to teach their children about gun safety before buying a gun, there would be fewer problems.
  19. The fact is that the next few years will bring a lot of changes. Many unpopular but necessary. You of all people know full we'll what is coming.
  20. Now I get it, you're a parody! It all makes sense now. There may be hope for you, yet.
  21. DOn't bother trying to point out that Mussolini, Franco, Hitler, Mao, Stalin, etc., all had "strong central government" at the root of their power and a whole lot of "we'll punish the wealthy and give it to the people whom we find worthy and exterminate the rest" philosophy. But, but it would be different if implemented in the US. Something like that couldn't happen here.
  22. I think a FEMA re-education camp would be cheaper. Yeah, but then we would need to create a brand new government agency to "oversee" the operation. Probably could start out with a budget of $100 million with increases as they stepped up enforcement.
  23. Depends on the kid and depends on the parent. What would you have liked to see happen in this case? You wont get an answer but, Isn't it obvious? They are happy she was able to defend herself but now they want her parents jailed for teaching her how to do it. That means she would spend her teen years in a foster home where she will likely be molested. Typical nutty left wing ideology.
  24. Of course Romney isn't working on the economy. He hasn't been elected yet. Wow, talk about starting up already........sheeeeeesh!!!!
