    and audit his taxes Nah, we will have to wait until a Republican gets the Presidency and sics the IRS on liberal groups and alphabet news organizations. Then he will get outraged. IMHO none of them, liberal, conservative, middle of the road... should be exempt from taxes. Every $ not paid by a tax exempt organization has to be covered by another taxpayer. Talk about missing the point.

As usual, the original legislation was written in such a way that it would be acceptable for the more conservative Democrats to vote for it. I am very sure that the original healthcare bill will be modified and become more and more expensive as 'mericans demand more from the government.

    Like all those fat cats in the 9th ward of New Orleans? At some point the government has to stop subsidizing every lifestyle "choice". Choosing to live in an area with a known history of hurricanes carries with it the responsibility of insuring your "lifestyle" choice. If you can't afford the insurance, then you can't afford the house.

    Never understood why the Feds are involved in the insurance business anyway. Mostly seems as a way for fat cats to build a home on the beach that no private insurance company would touch.

    The leak of classified information absolutely should have been investigated. The reporter(s) who obtained the information should absolutely not be charged with a crime. Fortunately, it appears that's exactly how the matter was handled. The leak was investigated, identifying the leaker, and the reporter was not charged with a crime. Right, they will just turn it over to the IRS and let them deal with the reporter.

Probably not. In a thread specifically started to draw attention to the tragic loss of children? Yes. ETA: I've bolded the part that should've prevented you needing to ask. Well, I asked because one of the leaders in the Democratic Party, Rahm Emmanuelle, once said "you never let a serious crisis go to waste". So, I just wondered if you supported that kind of thinking.

    Maybe not ever, but certainly in the top 10. Actually the OP was quite reasonable. Everyone else was stupid. I don't think the OP was reasonable. Anybody who read the original source that the stupid conclusion came to would realize that. Everything else was just knee jerk blather.

    Well, DUI is down significantly. And yet one can still purchase alcohol without a background check. Then why do I get carded when I buy beer at the local supermarket, despite obviously being over 21? So you think showing ID to purchase alcohol is comparable to having a background check done? Seriously?? Do you think they check to see if you have any DWI's or Public Intoxication on your record? Different way of achieving the exact same purpose - to see that I'm eligible for the purchase. And I don't get my panties in a wad over being checked for eligibility, unlike you gun enthusiasts. Should someone who has ever had a DUI or DIP be banned from purchasing alcohol in your world?
