thought i'd bump this thread. because i just bought a quasar II rig. when was the " problem" with the reserve " flinger" I ask cause the rig is a 1997 manf. last repacked in 2003? 2004? it sat in a closet for 4 + years. I'm not sure since I've bought the rig but haven't yet touched it. one of my early memories is watching my dad do military static line jumps. fast fwd to when i was 9 or 10 dad's stationed in germany we are watching a demo dad's like an e-7 or e-8 so we got to stand on the OTHER side of the caution tape about 20 ft. from the x. this guy comes in under a paracommander with the belly wart slung to the side. STOMPS the x stands it up hits the chest release the harness falls off of him. and he steps away. One other note folks. Reserve repacks I think mine is due this weekend....just make sure! just checked mine last packed 10/10/08 so I should be good thru april 10th right? I also just called today and reserved an rv slot so there are still slots left for sure i have on occasion been accused of pulling low . My response. I have lost goggles in freefall a couple of times. and yes i didn't just abort and pull I went ahead and turned the points that we had dirt dived. but under canopy and after landing I remember everything being hazy as if there was a light fog in the air. it took several minutes for my vision to clear up. it's not fun thinking damn have I permently damaged my vision i have on occasion been accused of pulling low . have they started making the optimum in larger sizes? I thought 143 was the biggest size you could get that reserve in. I WISH pd would think about us man sized jumpers and make it in a full range of sizes. I'd love to have one in the 218 size i have on occasion been accused of pulling low . My response.
