Unlike any dropzone you've been to? I'm thinking you haven't been to many or maybe only spent a short time at them. DZ politics can get really ugly. I have alot more fun since I've retired to just being a paying customer and fun jumping. The "debates" on this site are one of the best things about it. If we can't state our own opinions and argue them what's the point in having one?

I see in your profile your second favorite discipline is freeflying, interesting! You also forgot to mention that while most rw people are acoholics, freefliers are just a bunch of potheads.

Where I learned to jump at (a cessna dropzone) the pilot would ask how high we were going to..... so he would know how many beers to take for the flight!!!! and no, not kidding. Opie If your not on the edge, you can't enjoy the view!

The most important thing when deciding on a suit (IMHO) is proper fit and quality construction. Most companies make good suits but getting one that fits you well is the most important (and hardest part of the process). I try to only order a custom suit if I can get measured by the company (or person) that's going to build the thing, usually at a boogie or on vacation. If you have a dealer that sells alot of suits from one company they are likely to have a good grasp on getting the right measurements also. But if you get it wrong it means sending it back and waiting even longer while it's altered. I have a space suit and it seems to be holding up well. I had problems with the leg closures at first (the don't do that style anymore) and Tony fixed it for free while I waited at his shop one rainy day. They will go out of their way to make it right! I also have a RW suit from Michigan Suits, it's the comp suit and is the most heavy duty, best built suit I've ever seen. Have a new freefly suit on order from FireFly and so far Sherry (one of the owners) has been awesome to work with. Should be getting the suit next week so we'll see how it works out. More praise for the Valentine One from me! I've had one for about six months now to help me stay out of trouble during a little "court supervision" myself and love the thing. It was also in a comparison test in Car & Driver 4 or 5 months ago and came out in first place. Opie If your not on the edge, you can't enjoy the view!

Lisa, You may want to try a suit that fits your new boobies better. We would all hate to see you have them removed before everyone gets to see them! Also I think you'll find with the new boobies you will be able to close in on the formation much quicker (especially male formations, well maybe some females too but we won't get that started) When you find yourself floating with the new boobies just remember to acrh a little more to compensate for the power of the new boobies. Yes boobies are a powerful thing and require time to learn to control. Some never appreciate the power they have while others abuse the power and use them to make others who have yet to purchase them look bad. Which will you be? Having longer risors increases the amount of range you can move the toggles. The bottom end of this range is set by the length of your arms and the top end is set by how high the toggles are when up. Longer risors=higher toggles and more range. If you have them too long you may have trouble reaching the slider. I sold a canopy once set up with alot of slack in the brakelines and he put it on very short risors. Had trouble getting a good landing out of it until he realized he wasn't getting a full flare because of the shorter risors, his shorter reach (arm length), and the loose setting on the brakelines. The different length will also change where your connector links will lay in your container. Opie If your not on the edge, you can't enjoy the view!

You've changed from a sabre that you can let go of the pilot chute and general count on a on heading opening to one that requires more input during inflation. I jump crossfires at 2.0 and love the openings. What you describe seems normal to me but you have to be willing to give it some rear risor input during that second half of inflation with the rear risors. Don't over do it as noted earlier the rear risors are very sensitve but with some practice you should be able to hold the heading to within 10 degrees or so every time. It has no legal status. You have answered your own question here. The first time we have some 16 year olds grandma sue on his behalf and bankrupt 3 or 4 of our best gear manufactures, a major dropzone, all instructors involved and the USPA for endorsing it, many of you will realize this is a bad idea for the sport. Your son will be 18 soon enough, encourage him to enjoy some other sport that can kill you until then. Opie If your not on the edge, you can't enjoy the view!
