  2. After I'm done with my 8mo cruise next year on the USS Harry S. Truman, I don't think I'll ever see a cruise ship as a vacation. Skydiving: You either learn from other's mistakes, or they'll learn from yours.

  6. A few weeks ago at morning PT, one of our senior chiefs let a huge one rip. Nobody laughed at first, until the 2nd class chick next to him just calmly asked, "Are you serious?" We had to pause the exercises for a bit because everybody was laughing. Skydiving: You either learn from other's mistakes, or they'll learn from yours.
  7. I'm still active duty Navy with 3 1/2 years in. Right now I'm a rescue swimmer/aircrewman based on the SH-60F and HH-60H helicopters. If your son is pursuing a path of work related to maintenance, then chances are he has a lot of options when he decides to get out. There's options for almost everybody, some just don't look very openly at them. The military is a stress though. My job requires us to be in good shape, know A LOT about the aircraft, and a whole butt-load of information and tactics. Seriously I cannot see any college classes giving me trouble in the future because the stuff we learn is COMPLICATED, to say the least. A lot of my friends thought I would be a changed man after boot camp. Not so. Boot camp will help someone adjust to the military lifestyle, but in all honestly, it's the constant stress for years on end that changes a person. There's some great ups, and there's some very big downs. Stress comes and goes in waves based on training commands, the people around you, and your supervisors. For some people, these emotional roller coasters break them down. I've seen 3-4 good guys do some stupid things because they couldn't handle the lifestyle. DUI's, underage drinking, going UA, etc. If your son carries himself professionally already, then he'll probably do well. Sorry I can't answer any questions about the AF, but if you want to, feel free to ask me about the Navy, preferably in a private message. 10. I personally have no hurt feelings about the times I've been chewed out after landing, for dumb mistakes on my part. At the time, I may have been thinking, "Wow, this guy is a total dick!" but looking back on it, the mistakes they've made clear to me I've never done again. However, on the other side, a passive, or friendly adviser is likely to get his point across on a few, but not the ego-intensive types. It's just like a kid growing up. I'm glad for the times my parents have been very stern, because unlike the times they were passive with me, I actually listened. It also depends on the situation. If a newer jumper is attempting to swoop, and ends up almost colliding with somebody, or the ground, then that person needs a very stern, military-style chewing out. On the opposite side of the spectrum, if somebody is constantly landing out, and/or botching their own pattern, then they probably just need some friendly advice to help them with their problem. 12. I'm currently in Florida. Is there an opposite side of winter depression? I miss having all 4 seasons. I miss the nights warmed by the fireplace, drinking hot apple cider with cinnamon, and breathing in the crisp, fresh air. Down here it's still hot and muggy, I'm covered in bug bites, and thermals are still ****ing my world up when landing. Skydiving: You either learn from other's mistakes, or they'll learn from yours.

    Is it possible?

I definitely feel the same way. Way too much to drink Saturday night. Threw up multiple times, passed out on the sidewalk outside in hot & humid Florida, in which I am now covered head to toe in bug bites, and unable to sleep at night. Woke up Sunday morning still drunk, spent 2 hours looking for my shoes, and either washed or buried the 4 or 5 spots I threw up at. How was your weekend? movie quotes

"In her home country of Romanovia, Dodgeball is the national sport, and her nuclear power plant's team has won the championship 4 years running, which makes her, the deadliest woman on Earth...with a dodgeball... . . . 20. Coke is much worse. If you take into account each sugar packet contains about 3-5g of carbs, you'd really need a lot of sugar packets to catch up with the 39g of carbs in a typical soda. Coffee also contains more caffeine, and when drank slowly, it can give you a very nice feeling, compared to the, "My heart is about to explode," feeling when you down 3 cups within an hour. I'll admit, it looked like it had potential from the trailer, and I consider myself to have a decent taste in movies. This one looked like a promising action movie, not groundbreaking, but at least enjoyable. Boy was I wrong. I don't remember who the director is, but he really needs to retire immediately. First off, with my biggest annoyance. The movie literally was giving me a slight headache. The action scenes are so chaotic, and fast paced, that you very rarely can keep track on where the character is going. On top of that, the screen was constantly becoming distorted, skipping, and other editing nuances that I was certain I will soon have a seizure. To put it in perspective, Cloverfield seems relatively calm regarding it's camera effects compared to this movie. Second motion is that it was incredibly disturbing. I'm sure the director could have gotten the same point across without having to constantly resort to showing a sweating, obese, fat guy that is constantly touching himself, and either having an orgasm or going into a heart attack. Then there's the rave. I know there's certain people who do it and all, but what kind of rave has girls hanging themselves from hooks, and tons of other crazy masochistic shit. Then towards the end, with the bad guy singing the jazzy tune. No idea what the director was aiming for, but I'm pretty sure it was an attempt at ingenuity that failed at epic proportions. So, with all that said, I give the movie a 4/10. I went in, already expecting a trite, subpar action flick, and left disappointed. I do not recommend this movie. 22. Hard to say on their behalf. So far women: 1. ...don't lose their minds when talking to us. Well, at least not ways related to the study 2. ...live longer than us. 3. ...who smoke, live longer than male smokers. 4. ...have more powerful orgasms. 5. ...can have multiple orgasms. 6. ...don't usually have to be the ones asking for a first date. 7. ...don't typically have to pay anything on said date. Anybody else want to add something? I'm trying to think of a weakness for them, but alas, I cannot. Skydiving: You either learn from other's mistakes, or they'll learn from yours.
  23. Last week I went to a bachelor party for a coworker on a Wednesday night (I know, horrible day to do one). I ended up getting smashed, along with everybody else. Funny thing is, half the guys were able to get special liberty the next day, and the other half, including myself, could not. I ended up going to bed around 3:30AM, and then woke up at 6:00AM to go to work. Thank god nothing was going on that day. All of us at work were hurting. 25. It's pretty hard for me to get angry, and I don't really hold grudges. Sometimes every now and then someone will cross the line, and I'll snap, either verbally, or trying to tackle them. For an example, I was driving a group of us around base. I normally drive a Honda Civic, and was not used to driving a huge full-sized duty van. I took corners a little fast, but otherwise didn't do anything reckless. One of my fellow co-workers decided to express his distaste in my driving, by opening my door, and throwing all the water from his water bottle in my face. There's only been 3 or 4 times in my life I've been pissed off enough to charge at someone. That was one of those times. Completely uncalled for on both our parts.
