differences between alti-2 neptune2 and l&b viso
pilot-one replied to virgin-burner's topic in Gear and Rigging
You would be even more doom jumping with polarizing sunglasses and altimeters with LCD display. It depends on the glasses. I have a pair of polarized Gatorz that I can see the display just fine. With my Oakleys however it becomes a blank screen. -
differences between alti-2 neptune2 and l&b viso
pilot-one replied to virgin-burner's topic in Gear and Rigging
I have the Neptune and the Viso. The Neither has ever let me down. I prefer the Neptune though. It is easier to read in freefall and is much easier to set up. In fact some things on the Viso cannot be set up unless you have the manual. Also the wrist strap attachmen on the Viso is less than desireable. Any body want to buy a Viso? -
chest strap under canopy?
pilot-one replied to rocketscientist's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Are you familiar with the terms "Emperor's New Clothes" and "Placebo Effect"? Oh yea...I never thought about that. You must be right. I just made it up in my mind. Now that's a good one. -
Yea, I thought I had a couple of those but then I got divorced.

chest strap under canopy?
pilot-one replied to rocketscientist's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Really? And you know this because why? Tell me again. I guess when I was jumping a Sabre 2 210 I must have been smoking crack? Eh? -
My skydiving will be unaffected by the economy good or bad. If the airplane doesn't fly I'll find one somewhere else. I will be skydiving no matter what. It doesn't really matter how much it costs or how much money I won't have. Seriously...I'm not joking.

chest strap under canopy?
pilot-one replied to rocketscientist's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
***I don't like name dropping, but I did a well known canopy course recently. I was taught that, for nearly all of us, undoing the chest strap has little effect on the shape of the canopy, which in turn has little effect on the flight performance.*** I agree. You must also bring the slider down to effectively spread the line groups apart. There is no way by doing this that it would not change the shape of the wing. The only way it wouldn't would be if the width of the canopy was the same as the distance between the 3 ring on your harness. Also, I don't put my faith into one teacher. I simply stated that one of the premeire experts teaches this method. It may be possible that with a twitchy little canopy you can't hold your toggles while reaching for the chest strap. That however is not a problem for me. I still am not convinced that poping the toggles secondly is a good idea. -
chest strap under canopy?
pilot-one replied to rocketscientist's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I don't think so. However you are entitled to your own opinion. Tell me one good reason why you should not pop your toggles first and then loosen your chest strap. It doesn't make sense. If you find you have a problem with canopy control why not cut away with a tightened chest strap? I can't think of one reason that would supercede. Not to mention coming from Brian Germain who is one of, if not the premier experts in the field I would find it difficult to believe otherwise. -

Who said any thing about letting go of the toggles? -
chest strap under canopy?
pilot-one replied to rocketscientist's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I did. Just to make it clear the suggestion is to check for and be clear of traffic, collapse and then stow the slider, release toggles and perform canopy control check and then finally loosen the chest strap. I can't see where any other way would make sense. -
chest strap under canopy?
pilot-one replied to rocketscientist's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Why would you doubt it? I was there and that is exactly what he taught. He also helped put a device on my risers to hold the canopy down. Are you suggesting I'm lying? Who would you listen to? Some guy with 1800 jumps on the internet or to an accomplished canopy designer, swooper, inventor, teacher, lecturer, rigger, pilot , etc. with over 10,000 jumps whose 2 day course you attended with major improvments in canopy flying skills? Thank you very much but I'll stick with Brian. Oh.. also I don't think loosening the chest strap and leaving the slider up is going to improve the performance that much. Leaving the slider up kind of defeats the whole purpose. -
chest strap under canopy?
pilot-one replied to rocketscientist's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I beg to differ. I took Brian Germain's canopy course when I had about 50 jumps. He advocates loosening the chest strap and lowering the slider in his course irregardless of jump numbers. At the time I was jumping a Sabre 2 210 loaded at about 1.15. The difference was tremendous. Toggle turns and the flare were noticably better. No doubt with less anhedral (flatter wing) the glide improved as well. BTW..I suggest loosening the chest strap after releasing the toggles and performing a proper canopy control check. That way if you have to cut away you don't have the issues of locating your handles. But what do I know? I'm only 43. -
Practice, practice, practice. I hate that when it seems the harder you try to hold it all together the more it all slips away.

This is what I figured would be one of the major causes and should be 100% preventable, the whole point in me making this thread. How can you misroute a bridle if you're paying attention and know what you're doing? This is another reason I posted a separate thread in the safety and training section about shouldn't we know more about our gear? I've seen this happen twice in my short skydiving career. The first time the offender changed his closing loop in the car on the way to the dropzone and somehow got the bridle under the closing flap. The worst thing on this one is he had several closing loop checks before he got on the plane because he was worried about it being too loose and a pin check just before he got out. Now when doing a pin check I always check the routing of the bridle to make sure it goes directly from the closing pin to the PC. The other time was a newbie with about 35 jumps. He had enough jumps where nobody was checking on him but not enough to know what he had done. Again, he had at least 1 pin check before boarding by an experienced skydiver. Go figure.

I qualified, wanted and then asked for a Rat number. Now I have one. Gravity Rat # 149 Too cool! Thanks Robert!
-
I didn't notice if it was mentioned yet but a mis-routed bridle will cause a PCiT as well. i.e. routed under the flap where the pilot chute won't pull the closing pin.

I don't know who you're looking for but if you don't find him I would suggest buying an Aerodyne canopy from Voodew. You can find him on DZ.com as Voodew1. Good luck

Turn around time on cypress inspection
pilot-one replied to tcoogan's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
See my thread in gear and rigging a few months back. I got my arse reamed for complaining that my turnaround time was about 4 weeks. (Cypress 2) To be safe, I would count on about 4 weeks though. Ed Actually they are saying 6 - 8 weeks right now. -
This doesn't exactly work on an older canopy. Age must also be considered. I would say this canopy is worth about 1/2 what a new one costs. So maybe $850 or so at the most.

Don't you think that big ass lens sticking out kind of defeats the purpose of the snag free design of the helmet? Or does the picture just look like the lens is sticking out but it really isn't?
-
I think you have some serious personal issues. I don't know you but my guess is you're very young with no business experience and have some growing up to do. The Orlando tunnel is just fine for most people including skydivers. Marc is a fine person operating a business like a business should be run. Apparantly you did the right thing. You didn't like it so you left. Let it be.

I think you meant to say planforms.

Ask Brian Germain. I'm sure he can answer every single question you may have about your project. Just shoot him an email. He answers all of his emails personally and promply.
-
That's kind of weird since they are located in Asunsion Paraguay. Maybe you meant South America?

Send an email to cancel the order. If they charged your credit card dispute the charges. They can't charge your card if they can't prove delivery. Contact Julio at Liquidsky to make a jumpsuit for you and I can guarantee you you'll have a new jumpsuit in less than 3 weeks. Prolly more like 1 week if you don't go crazy on the design. I'll have to say though when I ordered from Kurupee they were pretty fast and answered all of my emails promptly.
